What’s absolutely incredible is how simple the questions are here, but yet so incredibly incisive and radical-*ESPECIALLY* if you’re familiar with the history of the Labor Movement.
I also love “A Working Man’s Hand is the Hardest Card in the Whole Damn Deck to Play.”
You have so many double and even triple meanings in that sentence and it’s both acknowledging a self-effacing reality and also hinting at the fact that *IF* you play that card right, you win.
this new ablum is so great a beautiful tribute to Woody Guthrie and a timely set of songs. We need music like this inspiring and caring working class people as we organize. Woody Guthrie lives on and Dropkick Murphys cares the torch of the rebel for another generation.

I came to this song from Turnpike, my 25 year old son came to it from Dropkick. We both thoroughly enjoyed this collaboration. The comment about being a collaboration I didn’t know I needed is dead on. More of this, please. Nice job!
Took a few minutes to show my respect to the boys and say thank you for their amazing music and years of devotion and always standing up for what's right. Back to using my working hands for another 18 hr day bringing in the harvest.

I always loved Woody Guthrie since my grandmother turned me onto him. It’s terrific to hear the Dropkick Murphys put a modern take on some of his previously unknown work. Today I found out that Shipping up to Boston was also a Woody Song.

That's what the lyrics are telling me, are they telling you something different?
@@jakefrost7404 They are telling me that no matter what the people try they are getting screwed. It is the repeated theme we try and rich and powerful screw us every time. Not exactly what I would consider a hopeful uplifting message.
@schrodingers cat In at least some of the subjects that the song mentions, I believe we agree, things could definitely be better. In the lyrics themselves, however, especially in the clincher, "We might lose many a fight, but we'll damn sure win the Last One," for which the song itself is named, I find them to be encouraging.
"Times are hard, they're wrong, we're not alone, we'll persevere, and we'll win," that's what the song tells me, at least. ;)
@@FakeSchrodingersCat Excuse me, but you get it all wrong. Woody was not a pessimist and not in his songs. The song is telling you that despite losing some battles if you unite with the rest of the working class and fight as one the last and final battle will be ours.
In a world that is going back rapidly back in 1930 with the rise of the fascists all over the world, we must do something fast and from their "banker" dropkick are doing an amazing job!
