La retrospettiva presso Pirelli HangarBicocca raccoglie per la prima volta una selezione di opere che indaga la ricerca di Nari Ward con la performatività e i progetti incentrati sulla collaborazione. Con un focus specifico su opere basate sull’idea di tempo, che comprendono video, lavori sonori, sculture performati­ve e installazioni, la mostra esplora a fondo la pratica trentennale dell’artista, presentando sia opere storiche e seminali sia nuove produzioni. La narrazione si snoda attraverso le installazioni di grande formato che Ward realizza tra il 1996 e il 2000 per la coreografia Geography Trilogy di Ralph Lemon, e che per la prima volta da allora vengono qui presentate in un contesto espositivo. Le tre opere creeranno una nuova coreografia insieme ad altre sculture, video, in­stallazioni e al corpo stesso dei visitatori.

The retrospective at Pirelli HangarBicocca presents, for the first time, a com­bination of works that interweaves Ward’s exploration of performativity and collaborative projects. With a particular focus on time-based media works, in­cluding video, sound, performative sculptures, and installations, the exhibition delves into over thirty years of practice, presenting early seminal and historical works as well as new productions. The narrative unfolds through the seminal large-scale installations, originally realized by Ward between 1996 and 2000 for Ralph Lemon’s choreography Geography Trilogy, presented here in an ex­hibition setting for the first time since then. The three works will create a new choreography together with other sculptures, videos, installations, and the bodies of the visitors.
