    Going to clarify something on the chance that it wasn't clear. My unit charges at a sustained 3W without games running. It will occasionally shoot up to a normal charging speed, but it will sustain at 3W. Again, this is with nothing running.
    I'll keep this updated with any other points.

      I heard this is just to help the battery health and it was advertised as that. There may be a setting to turn it off.( and the games withdraw more power resulting in less charging power .) correct me if I’m r

      In the video, you have displayed the charge rate at well above 3W without a game running. It's only when the game IS running that it drops to around 3 and as everyone else has pointed out, that's as intended to help reduce battery degradation.
      Seems like you have been corrected on this but can't come to terms with that so you're just lying in your comment here... Or am I missing something?

      I believe they said that it will not charge the battery while plugged in and on. That the unit has to be off to charge, which i agree is dumb.

      Try disconnecting the battery manually. Then plugging it back in and starting it. I doubt it has any other form of RTC battery. That may flush out those electric demons. If you do let me know if the SSD is easy to get to. I'll be swapping mine Tuesday.

      It does, but its dumb. Its a handheld. You want to only be plugged in while gaming for a short while and unplug and go back to playing without a plug. You cant do that if it wont charge while the device is on. Then again, this is basically a bad laptop being it isnt portable in anyway.

      @@Sanchase I mean its portability is trash. It is more inconvenient to carry the go in a backpack with its case then a laptop. A laptop fits perfectly in a laptop compartment taking up no room. The go in its case will take up 25% of your backpacks main compartment.

    • @nathanmead140
      @nathanmead140 7 місяців тому

      @@creaturecore13depends on the laptop and bag, for me it would be more portable because I use a school backpack when I go somewhere to stay for a day or a few, when I take my gaming laptop with me to my stepdad and moms house I can barely fit a change of clothes with it because the laptop is very large and the charger is big I also take a white Xbox one S controller a braided 10 foot type A to micro B cable and a over ear headset plus my phone and watch chargers which I take with me every time I go out there, now that it's almost winter in Wisconsin the sun sets earlier so I take a 4 slot battery charger and the light for my bicycle with me too, I have a dell venue 11 pro and a latitude E6510 which have better portability but I don't take those if I am going to be playing Forza motorsport 8 or Forza horizon 5 on Xbox cloud gaming because they are very laggy from having too low a thermal limit on the venue 11 and no graphics drivers on the latitude E6510.

    I don't know if you'll see this, but the charging is meant to be that way... The Lenovo Legion Go also has support for Super Rapid Charge2, allowing the battery to recharge up to 70% in just half an hour. When gaming while plugged in, The Lenovo Legion Go includes a power bypass mode that protects the battery from extra degradation while also eliminating heat normally produced while charging.

    When you plug in the charger and are playing the legion go, you're using the straight power going into the device and not charging as you play. This is apparently intentional to not wear out the battery. There's a separation.

    The charging was kind of random for me as I have one of the USB cables that has a display on it. I think when you go into a game, it goes into like a maintain mode to control heat. So that way when you're playing you're not losing any battery but you're also not really gaining any. This should be fixable with like a bios update or something

      VRR has nothing to do with allowing smoother high FPS gaming. It makes lower FPS gaming smooth and eliminates tearing which shows up at anything but native refresh rates.
      120hz might be fast enough to not notice tearing, but this is a handheld. It'll be doing 60 on the go to save battery life. And when you're deliberately saving the battery by playing at lower framerates, you need VRR to eliminate the tearing and to improve input lag.

One other thing I would like coming from steam deck is to have a custom refresh rate. Some games would work great locked at 50 but I can’t choose. If you can, let me know! Man, I am just torn between getting this or the Ally. I think the Go's bigger screen, 800p interger scaling, trackpad, apparently better performance, FPS mode and detachable controllers are super cool... but Ally is more portable, has better speakers, quieter fans, VRR, more mature software and a landscape screen (I heard the Go's portrait display is problematic for older games, which I plan on playing a lot). I've heard mixed things about ergonomics, build quality, controls and battery though. I think I might be leaning towards the Ally, especially since I can find it second hand for about 3/4 of the price of a new Go. Any suggestions?

The only cpu temp indicator I get is from the integrated legion space hud but I think the cpu temp monitor is broken because it never fluctuates. It gets stuck on one temp, it only ticks up in weird intervals of 53c, 60c, 68c, and it'll stay stuck reading a high temp even after I'm done gaming and it goes back to idle in desktop.
