As a huge Ford fan the Capri hurt me on a spiritual level, every time they claimed "the legend is back" I died a little. I am excited for the smaller cars coming, after all not everyone needs a 2 ton SUV.
I've seen the advert for it now and it sums up the situation nicely. It starts off with an actual (or re-created) old Capri advert talking about the sporty looks and so on and then blends seamlessly into the new SUV and the only thing it can say positively about it is that it is spacious. When the company itself is stuck for positives, you know it's not good. I think Ford got away with the Puma and Mustang better because they were good cars. They weren't what a Puma or Mustang buyer would want, but they were good. From all the reviews I've seen, the Capri is very ordinary and not worthy of the Ford name let alone its model name.
The Renault indicator sound is great and lets you change the volume 🥳 brill video again guys and girls, loved watching it while scoffing quality street 🤤
Always love Nicola's openness and honesty and please don't change Nic, those prudish people with closed minds and think it's still 1890's can get stuffed. Agree with Mike on Jag though, mind you until it's pre-prod at minimum and driveable will wait and see what Jag do. Hopefully next year you cover some more of these new Chinese EV brands, assuming you get them in the UK of course would like to know your thoughts on them such as the Xpeng G6(Model Y competitor) as one example.
constructive criticism.... need better sound quality from mic's and/or subtitles, goes from too quiet to loud when speaking normally then objecting to a point
Yes, love the show but this is the second video I’ve seen recorded at this location and the sound is very, very poor. Muffled most of the time then suddenly over loud whilst still sounding muffled! 😢
@@dismasx5855 Came here to say this, a lot of variation in sound levels, Ginny is too quiet to hear then Mike is screaming in your ear....! Get some microphones!
Please fix the sound on the pods when you’re all in one location, it’s so erratic it’s virtually unlistenable, one minute it’s fine, then goes super quiet so I turn up the volume, then suddenly the sound goes loud and it hurts my ears. It’s a shame because I like listening to what you all have to say.
Joined the channel this year from sunny South Africa, we are far behind the rest of the world with EVs, but I enjoy your channel and learning about what is happening in this fast developing space. Love the channel, keep up the great work.
Always useful to look back and was amused to see how Nicola woke up the dog with the indicator impression, thank you. A high for me occurred this month when I finally “got” Nio’s battery swap idea when it was pointed out to me that you could lease a small battery for most the year but a larger capacity battery (but same physical form) when you need something for a longer range. Also when battery technology changes the new technology can be retrofitted into the same form factor to work in your now old car. The low was the Capri because my family had a couple of the original 1970s Capris. No need to say more.
Thank you for all your 2024 content. Looking forward to an even more electrifying 2025. The volume was very low on this episode, nearly every advert made me jump out of my seat, not that I was sleeping of course.
Love the show and really like this relaxed format but the episode was totally ruined for me because the sound was so terrible. Turning up the volume just makes it loud but still indistinct. ☹️ please fix the audio.
Hello team! My highlight of 2024 was definitely driving my Polestar 2 on a complete lap of Australia becoming the 41st driver to have ever done it, according to the official pure EV lap register. It took me 33 days to do the 15,000km, and I backed that up with a trip down to Tasmania. Ps I’m with Manos on the Polestar 3 as that I hope will be my next car in a couple of years. I’ll get the RWD version and do another lap!
I'm looking forward to 2025 to see what comes out of Toyota and Honda EV-wise. They're my favourite brands and I'm hanging on before my next EV purchase to see what they come up with! I wish the improvement you talked about in EV charging infrastructure would come to the southern half of East Sussex, pathetic is the only word to describe my area, no new chargers I know of in 2024! Thanks for the great weekly show!
Something for next year could be an explainer on WLTP, what's involved in the test and why it produces results that are unreliable at best. An extension could be investigating ways to make it more reliable while retaining the repeatability that such testing requires. For me my EV driving highlight would be doing 240 miles in a day in my Soul without needing to add any electricity and getting home with over 40 miles of range showing. My lowlight is probably sitting in the EV3 as I find the cabin really isn't to my taste, the Soul feels a nicer place to be with everything visible and air vents positioned in a way you can direct air to your face. At some point towards the end of 2025 I'll be changing the car and will look at the EV3, but it's certainly not a done deal.
Thanks for everything in 2024 👍 Shocking audio on this clip, but hey, it's listenable enough, so moving on... My key highlight from 2024 is that there are a lot of old salary sacrifice cars now coming off lease and thus EV's are now becoming more affordable on the second hand market, that's helping drive mass adoption and counter the daily mail sentiment around them all being overpriced rubbish! For the whole twin motor thing, my vote goes to the EV9. I personally like/prefer the Air, but there are so many more units that have been sold that are twin motor. Also, we still know nothing more about when V2X will be available (despite the car supporting it) and the full fat GT is on the way next year! Can't wait to see your review of that, albeit it seems like too much power for such a massive car, let's see 😁
My high point of 24 is a car driver found the indicator stalks on their car , my low point is the rest can’t find their indicators 😂😂😂😂 but it’s normal Happy 25 all at Electryfying 👍👍👍
Great to hear from Nicki, more from her in 2025 please. I do think Ford have become lazy when it comes to its designing and naming of their cars. Happy New Year and look forward to what 2025 will bring ...
Thanks for your years work❤ Silly question, why don’t manufactures consult reviews, like yourselves, to make sure their cars tick all the right boxes to get rid of the wrong boxes.
I love your channel and I really enjoy your Kilowatt Half Hour podcast, but could you please try to keep the audio levels for each speaker on the podcast the same, otherwise it is really difficult to listen to. Keep up the great work 👍🏻
Thanks for your great podcasts throughout 2024 - helped by a prolifera of new models albeit we are still waiting for a number of models that have whetted our appetites (Renault 5, Alpine A290, Skoda Elroq, Audi A6). I’m not sure what is on the horizon for 2025 but for the sake of the British motor industry I am looking forward to the new Nissan Leaf and I am hoping we learn that Toyota has plans to convert Burnaston to produce a Corolla EV.
My word, how hard is it to sort your audio out. So many videos this year have had really poor sound quality. Either different volumes, muffled or echoey. It's so hard for us with hearing loss to follow along. I love your output and want to support all you do, but it's not always a pleasure to do so.
Go on, I’ll be first. I agree with Mike, I think Jaguar are on their way to an early bankruptcy. I think they’ve completely missed the market and will be one of the last to the EV party. Unless their products are ground breaking then they’ll be just a footnote in vehicle history. As A Jaguar fan, that’s a sad thought.
Jaguar were already on their way to an early grave. Their petrol car sales were not sustainable and the ex CEO's decision to cancel their almost finished EV lineup put them 5 years behind
Electrifying team amazing job whole year bringing us great videos and podcasts. Can't wait to see more from you in 2025, and really can't wait to see what 2025 bring us in the EV world. Keep up with great work and greetings from sLOVEnia 😁
Thanks for an interesting and entertaining year of EV reviews and features. 2025 is going to be very different, who knows what brands will exist by this time next year. Best wishes for a successful year for all the team.
The Capri was just lazy. It was cookie cutter re-use of uninspiring parts to produce the most beige experience possible. It does not distinguish itself or claim any particular segment to define. It could be completely missing from the lineup and nobody would notice. Ford really missed the mark here. The sneaky Mondeo rebadging was the best part, honestly. +5 points for puckish good humor. As for sounds, I'd love a quick commentary on which ones irritate or charm you. Who is tuned in on their sound game? (And for that part, have you heard the Rivian sounds?) Someone needs a little 3D printed Skoda Enyaq Christmas tree ornament with a strategically placed reviewer behind the wheel.
You should talk more about Chinese EV’s and most importantly the current and future battery technology what will radically change the EV and just wipe ICE cars away. Battery company CTL, Zeekr , geely that owns Volvo.and how de EU EV makers are going to make their batteries for future solid state technology
Forget the cars, that is a lovely living room! 5 points! Someone has done well! Test driving trucks was a fun one! More of that please! Maybe send Nicola over to Sweden to test electric diggers, wheel loaders and some more trucks. See if she can reverse in a 34 meter road train 🙂
Great podcast as usual but do you think that in 1969 when the Capri mk1 came out people were moanng it did not look like a proper Capri, ie the Consul Capri from 1961?
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
I think public charging has come a long way, however it seems to be focused in the the more central areas. I live in Milton Keynes and the charging options are great , but visiting places like north Norfolk you will finding charging to be utterly shocking.
Didn't get past the first minute due to the sound quality, this is the 2nd one recently with bad sound issues, is the usual sound guy off for Christmas?
Re comments about improvement in charging infrastructure….try North Norfolk for a Christmas visit. A desert of Council and Supermarket car parks with feeble, ill-maintained GeniePoint and Podpoint chargers. So frustrating that they’re so keen to declare their’green credentials’ followed by nothing……
You shouldn’t bother bringing your EV to the west coast of Scotland then. The very few chargers around are awful and mostly broken CPS 7 or 22kW units asking wallet melting prices to use them if they are working.
If they had called it the Mondeo, it would be the expected modern day bloat If you look at the dodge charger, looks like someone thinks a 2 door coupe has legs. Ford should have called it the Fordstar 2 or the Mondeo and it might still sell.
The Capri... at the very least they could have done one in Signal Orange with a chocolate brown checked interior and side speed bar graphics. It's just so bland and unremarkable. Such a shame, I bet it would be a great car to own too.
Glad to see Diggy there again! But I think Nicola scared him with that indicator imitation. I just really hope that in 2025 all the highlighted EVs definitively leapfrog Tesla. I was so glad to relinquish mine, with its awful Tourette Syndrome, and get a more comfortable, more practical, much better EV.
The Capri is a gorgeous car and very good of Ford that they made an electric one, you live in the past and don't know what you're talking about or you're old, the Capri is a car for the future - OMG
I wonder with the push and promotion for clean motoring through this channel what your carbon footprint was for 2024 with you all scattered across the globe to do road tests on zero emission cars and what mitigation was put in place? It would be an interesting comparison against not doing it at all but consistently testing in the UK to reduce that CF number. A bit like Formula E in the way they mitigate the footprint from start to finish of a season.
Low point of the year, driving a EX30, who decided to release a car with so many faults? Highlight of the year, despite being partially disabled at the time, easily climbing into a F-150 Lightning after previously failing to be able to get in a Rivian, just goes to show how 100+ years of building cars means you can sometimes get it right whilst the newbies favour style over ease of use.
I'm afraid another thumbs down for the sound today (but a comment should help the algorithm)! & off the back of that, out of interest what was the car that you said was better in the twin engined version (the transcript was no help in deciphering)?
Not really my preferred format and clearly not important enough to get everyone in person. Fortunately there are a number of decent EV coming in 2025 that might sway IC car owners to try out if only because of the design effort employed. Agree on the Capri wasted opportunity its more suited to the cortina name, SUVs are the laziest product line overpriced oversized and driven by people who just want to be envied driving their latest possesion. Hope JLR get their act together as the quality and reliability have been a bit of a running joke for ages. Fords report card for the year reads 3/10 must do better or stick to the US market.
I love this channel, but this video left me empty. Not bc of the audio. You spent a lot of time talking about things that had no relevence, and if you are going to talk about the best and worst of 2024 then you cant spend as much time as you did on the Jag launch, which is something thst is put on for motor journalists. Anyway have a great 2025!
30 seconds in, had to go elsewhere - sound volume utterly hopeless (about 1/10th of what it should be) ... oh, and this keeps happening almost every episode of Electrifying ... way to lose viewers!
But the Mondeo isn't an SUV either! Grrgrrrgararararararar!!! Bad Electrifying! Ford, just stop it. Stop putting famous badges on SUVs of classic things that aren't SUVs. You can't call a blobby a Mustang and you can't call it a Capri. The SUV bubble is bursting. The market is beyond generic. There are no more SUV corners to explore.
As a huge Ford fan the Capri hurt me on a spiritual level, every time they claimed "the legend is back" I died a little.

Is it just me or does anybody else find Nicola so annoying!!!!! 🤭🤭
It’s just you!! Happy New Year!!
Downs like depreciation and complete mess of the EV market.....
FFS.....you guys are desperate.🙄
Another load of dribble, that tells me nothing.
