a sprinkle of cornstarch will make that tube slip in and seat easy. Hmm, after inserting the valve stem, why not put a ziptie around the tire and rim to hold the tire in place at the valve stem? And then as you go around, add more ties as you go and clip the first ones. Also, I think that if you run a long 1/2" bolt through the bench top, and then put the wheel over the bolt, you'll have a way to stabilize the wheel so you can use both hands. That's what workbenches with vises and dogs are - your third hand.
HA HAAA!!! AWESOME...or should I say TOTALLY TUBULAR!!! Worked perfectly.. tire went on in about 10-15 mins, roughly the time it took to write this. The trick is ABSOLUTELY the zip ties closing off the tire over the inner tube which also narrows the tire cross section to wedge over the rim. I used 4 (four), 14.5 inch Zip ties at the 10, 2, 5, and 7 o'clock positions around the tire/tube, valve stem at 6 o'clock, and misted a good amount of 303 UV Protectant Spray (seriously good stuff) on the tire sides. Tire started / went over the rim with ease, pushed it down onto the rim by hand much as possible, and from the left and right worked the remaining 5-6 inches over / onto the rim (it does get tight) with a little urging of 2 tire irons and 2 elbows and...BOOP...landed on the rim like hot buttered pancakes on a warm plate 🥞 Thanks for sharing!!!
@@nastynatesscooters9896 if you have new tubes coming, then I would wait for those. you just need to file a bit at the goofy bend at the top on the front stays only.
Detroit Moped Works put one on the front and kept the fender. See - detroitmopedworks.com/product/1981-red-honda-express-ii/ They put a similar size tire on the back and did not put on the rear fender. I once took a qt50 rear fender and made it a rear fender for an NC50 qt50.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/IMG_0134-768x574.jpg - it should give you a little more room than the stock nc50 fender.
THX a lot for making and sharing this knowledge in video tutorial, I was lost during my first try, was afraid to puncture the tube, got lucky to find this video, helped me to get it done after i let the tire on the sun for hour, lubed it liquid wash gel and got it done in few min.
@@jackrutherford-1 I have installed tires on a 1980 Indian moped and a 78 Peugeot 103 i deflated the inner tube and but first i installed the tire using those tire levers/spoons and applied silicone lubricant to the bead it was a little dificult like all tires but it worked. The problem i have is that the tires will not sit properly and when the wheel turns it looks like its out of round so i deflated the tire and reinflated it and it helped but i still have the same problem. I also bounced the tire to help it seat but no luck. Did you have this problem? Do you have any suggestions as to how to fix the problem? The tutorial was excellent. Good tips. Thank you
Honestly the trick with the zip ties didnt help you. Ive done it many times with out them and it took about the same or more amount of time as mine did with out soap and ties. But if you added more ties it may help. Ima try it later today with more ties.
It's really hard to generalize. So much depends on the tire in question, the size of the rim, size of the tire, the ambient temperature, maybe even the rubber compounds in the tire. Some are easy; some are hard; some do better with zip ties; some don't.

Both my irc tire say front tires with an arrow does it matter or did they give me 2 front tires?
Nastynates garage Fine yep. No worries.
Ok will the stock qt50 tubes work in them? I got the2.75 3s coming but if I can reuse tubes i will
And how much do I have to take off the fender stays so they fit just a little? And on front only? I been filing on the bends up top

Ok cool. Yea imma wait I just get excited and wanna put them on lol
Do you know if these would work on a 1980 Honda nc50 and clear the fenders?

sweet! I've got a couple more to do myself.
@@jackrutherford-1 Silicone grease works and does not harm rubber. Also brake fluid works because it will not damage rubber.
Cheers

Look in treatland, lucky strokes or moped division.
Good luck on your resto.
I got a brand new tube and tire but won't hold air
you probably pinched the tube. Patch and redo.

the trick is to straddle it with your knees while using the irons in pairs.

Doing the rear with the 2.50 size. complete BITCH to put on. Gonna buy longer tire tools, hopefully that will ease the process.
warm the tires up some beforehand. That might help. Dawn dishwashing liquid is good too.
I've been though this, it's painful to watch.
