The stuff that Shane did truly shocked me. Not because of who he is but because my mind would never even think to go to such dark and disgusting places so I guess it's just extremely shocking to hear people's disturbing thoughts. Like who would think to do that to a cat? It's so sad and weird. Every time I hear the voice recordings of Shane saying those things it just leaves me feeling hopelessly disgusting and uncomfortable.

7:32 For what it's worth, Markiplier actually went through a similar run of grooming/pedo allegations back in 2015 due to how overly friendly he is with his fandom, as well as how young his community generally is.
Obviously these accusations were debunked and/or recanted, but it bears pointing out that 3 false allegations in a year isn't the craziest thing a creator of Dream's influence has dealt with
Yeah I don’t even like Dream, his content is boring to me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if all of it was fake. The internet was dunking on him after his face reveal, and you know when the internet hates you, allegations will come left and right.

What happened to Dream is honestly scary. Like, imagine obsessing over someone so much you make false allegations WITH screenshots and a fake snap. After watching his video, I can't imagine how this man can still be on the internet having fun; I would die inside. People are just horrible.

My opinion as someone who got really into Shane Dawson at 13: I don't really care if he's changed because enough damage has already been done. He made content directed at teenagers that contained some of the worst stuff I've ever seen/heard, and he always had an excuse. Being a kid at the time, I trusted him and thought the things he did were ok because he said they were. But as an adult, I look back and realize how much his content messed me up. Those videos were aimed at people whose brains were nowhere near finished developing, and he played up all of his sympathetic traits and his tragic backstory to manipulate us into thinking he was a good person. I think one of the main ways that manifested was desensitizing teenagers to p-filia jokes. Looking back, that desensitization had a huge impact on me. It feels like some mass form of grooming. There's so much more I could say, I feel like I could write a book about it.
I could not agree more. I also started watching him when I was around 13 back around 2009. I never came forward about my abuser when I was young because Shane’s grooming content made me think no one would take it seriously or care.
Honestly after I saw him hump that puppy and then made out with it I was done.
I only watched him during the makeup drama era, where he was getting familiar with Jeffree Starr and making pretty much useless clickbait “documentaries”. Even then his content was lazy, and the kinds of jokes he makes in his old videos are not appropriate, he knows/knew what the age of his audience is/was.
i completely agree. i started watching him at around 11-12, and now that i'm almost an adult, i cant believe that i was exposed to that humor. and i still have some of his merch and books which honestly makes me want to vomit

The situation of Dream and the multiple "allegations" against him were mainly due to it being easy to make him respond paragraphs on a false allegation. Once people found out, thats when more allegations came out.
Its crazy, I could make fake allegations against dream right now if I wanted to.
that doesn't change that hes a piece of garbage who indirectly parasocially grooms his fanbase and gets people constantly harassed off the internet for hating on him and also used to take pride in it with situations like him ironically endangering a young black person's life over exposing his racist past to the point they were begging people to stop leaking their and their families address.

Honestly Dreams biggest flaw is his rash responses, he made multiple paragraphs of texts that only fed into the crazy Twitter accusers and made it easy for them to rally people to laugh at him along with ridicule him.
Kwite another youtuber that recently had been falsely accused had to tell him to focus on the response video and stay off Twitter.
Once he did and made a more clean solid response in the UA-cam video all those accounts that accused him turned tail and ran.
Showing that they were only banking on Dream not thinking clearly and having nothing of substance.
He got famous way too quickly where he struggles to handle such pressure and the parasocial community that he quickly built up started to turn on him, one of the main accusers called Amanda was just a crazed stan that got mad that he wasn't giving her that much attention therefore started grooming allegations. The accusations of racism partly came from his fanbase with someone saying how the battle scream was racist to Native Americans.
I feel alot of the haters are ex dream stans that would chastise him for not being perfect.

Creepshow Art is by far my favorite example of a self-sabotage online. I was going "wtf?" when she was exposed for being a lunatic on lolcow but when Emily joined the conversation... holy f*ck! The true cherry on top was her long awaited response only proving her guilt accidentally. I really wonder what Shannon is doing now.

1. A faceless creator with an attractive voice, this led people to believe that he's a very attractive guy, unfortunately for them he was an average looking guy.
2. His friend group is very loved, namely people like Tommyinnit, Ranboo, Fundy, George, Techno (rest his soul) and i can't be bothered to search the rest. Said people were also very sexualized by some unhinged Twitter users.
3. Twitter, i don't have to explain this.
4. LGBTQ-friendly attitude, this might be a somewhat weird theory, but Dream and co is very LGBT friendly and whatnot. In my experience creators who are openly and overly friendly/"accepting" (pandering) to LGBT audiences also get the most unhinged of the bunch, as well as "safe spaces" which is a very sneaky term for echo chambers. Also, male audience who also happen to be gay or bisexual see this as a way to be more openly attracted to Dream.
5. Minecraft, very accesible game, girls and boys alike play it a lot. In my experience the most unhinged people in Dream's fanbase happen to be straight girls or gay guys i.e the ones that are most likely to fall for someone like Dream.
6. People establish fandoms for things like DreamSMP and stuff.
7. Fostering parasocial relationships, bro calls his fans "kittens" and does not take accountability for his fans' unhinged actions.
However, i do not think that Dream's unhinged fanbase is that big, just that they have the loudest voice.
Now for why he is hated:
1. Unhinged fanbase, i will say, Dream's fanbase can be very unhinged and annoying. Which leads people to hate him because he's the root of it. Especially if Dream does not care wtf his audience does.
2. Annoying pandering to LGBT, safe space bullshit leads to echochamber leads to very strong takes regarding LGBT. I mention LGBT a lot because i recognize most of his unhinged fans are LGBT, but i think this goes for a lot of fandoms.
3. See Dream as a boogeyman for all these problems.
4. Ride on the bandwagon because they want to belong to the crowd.
It's all speculation though lol, it's just based off of what i see.

about the editing in dreams video, i initially thought it was weird to do so much editing for a response video.
however, when you think about it, it makes sense. you dont want people to look away from a video youre trying to debunk SERIOUS allegations against you in. to make a long format video have a bunch going on will allow people w even the shortest attention spans actually pay attention. its smart in the end
Fr in this day and age an hour long video of a single guy in front of a camera won’t enough to persuade anyone especially if your fanbase is mostly under 18.

Boogie is not on the verge of homelessness. He lives in a very expensive house that he could sell, and he bought it when it was very cheap so he would be making a profit on it. But he refuses to give up that house specifically even though he could downsize and be fine.

The problem with the dream allegations is people go at others that they hate with no evidence or faked evidence I’m not one of the meat riding dream fans but I don’t think it’s okay to accuse someone of grooming minors because you dislike them it’s become a common occurrence

Gotta call you out on Boogie not always being a pity party, the man's content has ALWAYS been an enormous pity party, same now as a decade ago but back then people sympathised with him and were supportive of him, treating him with kid gloves all the time and insisting he was just so lovely.

False allegations are becoming more of a problem. People should remember the case with the ghost cosplayer guy that offed himself because he was falsely accused by a girl that was underage that even admited on falsely acussing him. So sad for the real victims because they are getting less credibility because of these false acteurs i honestly think legal repercusions and laws should be implemented for falsely acussing online, special laws with harsh sentences. It feels like false acussations have an huge impact on the victims even if the allegations are disproven. It is not okay
To answer your "why come back?" question, I see it in a few ways:
1. Their channel isn't terminated
2. Staying offline would be letting the haters win
3. It proves to yourself and those watching the kind of dedication you have to your channel and career that you'll bounce back. "What won't kill me will make me stronger", sort of thing.
Not to say I respect these creators or what led to their downfall but I do begrudgingly respect their commitment to their channels

On a real note I feel like Dream gets alot more allegations due to him being a "Minecraft UA-camr" rather than any other CC of any other niche on the platform but those are just my thoughts.
I remember my first time hearing about Dream. It was when it was announced he was planning to reveal his face. My reaction was... "Who...?" I had to look up what was his niche and time of airing and it turns out I was one of the few slipping in the cracks where he didn't register on my algorithm. It was because of my interests on UA-cam, the time of my job, and the special days I work causing it.
The content speaks for itself. I just wanted to comment to show some love to tuv himself. This is the first video I’ve watched from you and it’s very well made, professional and entertaining. Will definitely stick around to watch more! ❤

The Dream situation feels like a "He said, She said" thing. Nothing can really be believed, but I can see kids getting upset that their favorite youtuber wouldn't reply to them and then doing something insane because they don't understand how serious it is. No one has shown bad images that dream was said to have sent them, and there are no videos of him harassing anyone. Its all just texts that are the easiest things to fake.

Alright, this is important to say. On the first example in the dream segment, I cannot get behind that being some devious cancellable action. I do believe famous people should have clear boundaries with fans, it's never a good idea to get that close. However, why are we saying this girl was "only 17!" or calling her a victim? He was 20, which imo is barely a full adult anyway.
as someone who was once a 17 year old girl, I believe we absolutely have the agency at that point in our lives to start something with a 20 year old, accept or reject their advances, and initiate a relationship ourselves.
It's above the age of consent where I'm from. at 17 many girls are in college, living independently from parents or decreasing their reliance on them, getting jobs, etc. You still have a lot of growing to do, but you're not a baby, you're a young woman advancing herself in this world, why are we taking away agency from them??

the complicated thing about dream is that he is HATED because of his fandom. whenever a content creator has a female-majority community, they become extremely hated. I don’t even care for dream, but it makes it hard to figure out which allegations are valid and which stem just because he’s so hated. Again, he could be guilty or not, I don’t care, but him being so hated makes it hard to tell what’s true or not.
So personally, I'm not in the business of making fun of children but when dream kids would make their way into the spaces I was a part of, they would always really annoy me just because of how much a lot of them placed their identity around dream universe shit. It is extremely common for kids to have crushes on someone too old for them. It is something kids need to be warned against acting on, in case it is a creep they like, but they aren't asking to be groomed.
The older teens/adults shouldn't be bothered necessarily, but recognize it as something that the kid will grow of. The crush should be either ignored, or the kid gently explained to that it would be inappropriate for anything to happen.
This can start very young. One of the most common first crushes for children(we're talking as early as kindergarten) is their teachers. Of course at that age it's very different from a teenage crush.

I'm a very, VERY firm believer in believing the victim (like most people are), but people have begun to abuse that power. It's extremely easy to forge screenshots and honestly I would not believe just a few text messages. At the same time, there should NOT be this many allegations.
