Thanks a lot -- this was a lifesaver! It took me only 20 mins to change the belt, but without your help I never would have got that damn thing out of limp mode.
I'm not a mechanic but I do all my own work, learned most of what I know from my father and the rest from my time in the garage. I took the side cover off and inspected the belt... everything looked fine, just a lot bigger than the CVT on my 50cc scooter, lol. Your video helped me tremendously, I couldn't figure the blinking light thing out to save my butt. Thanks for the Vid brother... worked like a charm 👍👍
Thanks so much for this video. It has been very helpful. We really appreciate the clear visual picture and the clear speech. This video was really a life saver.. Please offer more if possible.
THANKS..a lot sir...Your video is very useful to me.I am not much of a mechanic, and our 360 belt light is on.I will try this excactly as you show it.And I'll let you know how it worked. Thanks for posting.
@400EX99N I got the valve adjustment done and now I have a new bike!...Now,all I need is for spring to come and I'll be all set. Also,I got a really nice Kodiak winch and it is on my bike now.It powers in and out...excellent! Thanks again;and I know where to find you if I have any more questions.
Thanks Mark i have took this dam thing to dealer about 4 or 5 times for this...... I tried your video and it worked for me :) thanks again !!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks for comments man found out clutch was shot. It was ten years old so guess it done good for being ten years old. then i broke clutch puller off inside primary sheave so now have to buy new clutch and clutch puller. thanks for the advice man
I know it's been 10 years since you posted this video about the Kawasaki prairie 360, but I was wondering if you knew how to reset the 4x4 light it is flashing. I appreciate any help, you make great videos, thank you.
4X4 Light If something wrong, it will flash. If you are engaged in 4x4, it will stay on. Basically there are 3 types of failure modes when 4x4 is "flashing". You need to measure the flashing time interval (1, 2 or 4 seconds). For example, how much time it would make a complete flashing cycle 2WD->4WD->2WD. In any case, you should get a factory service manual and start reading if you want to do the work by yourself. If not, leave it to a competent dealer mechanic.
@JBodine67 i would do a valve adjustment, and i would not play with the air screw.i think the valves are most of your problem.if its still a little hard to start after you adjust the valves you can go i size bigger on your pilot jet or run i size hotter plug in the winter. hope it helps
I like the way you explain things.I found the 360 belt light video was very helpful. Would you show us how to inspect the belt and clutch?..That would be really good.
My light just went on today , while i was plowing . Thanks for making this video . Wondering if you made a video to replace the belt , in case i have to do so . Thanks again
the actuator should make some kind of noise, if yours doesn't check you connectors that they are plugged is all the way. also check the fuse. in my services book 6 and 6 means memory reading failure which means may be a broken led light. also try resetting the lite manually by taking the belt cover off and flipping the switch. hope this helps ya
I did all you said, and it worked!...Thank you man.Very useful info... Cold weather starting and idling is becoming a problem.Maybe a valve adjustment will help?...Also,I was wondering,is there an adjustment screw on the carb for the air/fuel mix?I thought it might need a little tuning for cold weather?..What do you think might help our cold-blooded Kawie?...It's great to talk to a mechanic who knows all about this machine...Thanks again.
Polaris makes good quads, they do have some issues as other brand do.the only thing I don't like about Polaris is there 4wd system, they use a plastic roller cage in the front diff. I have replaced a few of them. but they were older ones iam not quite sure about the newer ones they may have changed that now. try talking to people who have them and find out how they like them. I hope this helps
yes you would know. your quad would not run to good like it wouldn't get up to speed, the quad wouldn't stat moving until 1/2 throttle. the belt is under that black cover on the right side.the belt needs replacing when it get beyond the specs for your quad. you should check your belt at least once a year or if you ride a lot twice a year
I did exactly what the video said and now the light is blinking and it won't rap up. When I put the throttle in it sounds exactly like when you try to go fast in reverse without the over ride
it could be the actuator going, but I would check the plugs make sure they are pluged in all the way. if that does not work take the belt cover off and check out the actuator arm , may be dirty or jamed
Hi Sir:I've got a 2010 Kawasaki Kvf 360 4x4...The belt reset worked fine. That was a few months ago. I have a question regarding the 4x4 light blinking on and off in long intervals, like about 5 seconds apart...I thought it might be the actuator acting-up,because it sounds funny whe it resets and it is hard to get from hi to neutral when the light is blinking. Maybe you would know about this machine?I need to get a repair manual. The dealer here is a goof.Do you have some ideas?...Thanks.
Going to try this on my KVF700 (2004 Prairie 700)....I'll let you know. It should work. My light is solid, not blinking. Has been on for like a year now and I've noticed no difference in power.
Hi 400ex...well I checked all connections and they are good.I read some of the repair manual and I have to say that some of it was way over my head.Wiring diagrams and minute details, man, what ever happened to a simple set-up?Why would they build a bike with so much electrical components?IAnyway,I had the clutches cleaned and a new belt installed. Sometimes the engine brake actuator acts up and the 4x4 light will blink.I turn the key off,and it seems to reset itself...New actuator maybe?..thanks
thanks for the prompt reply. Do you mean to check all plugs and connections?I will check them all. How is the actuator reset? I will try the link for the manual. I need a good mechanic for this bike.I am so damned stupid when it comes to working on bikes.I really appreciate your helpful advise.
Just wondering. Is it possible to do this proceedure to re-set the clock to zero before the belt light is triggered? If you were headed out for the day, it would be nice to know that you wouldn't have to deal with limp mode 20 miles back in the bush.
hey man my belt actuator is acting bad. I think its finally gone it has 9400kms on it. We checked the conections and all that there all good. But when you turn the key on it doesnt buzz it just goes zip short and the light is still blinking before you even start it. I think it is time for a new one. Are they hard to install? does it just sit on top on the belt or before u put it on do you have to reset anything? Thanks for your time and talk to you soon.
thanks man will try any way i can get ahold of you if i does not work ? sounds like you know what you are talking about and would like more advice if you dont mind
how does the actuator work in any of the bikes, what are its functions and how we can use it in other machines specially in the fast and loose pulley systems,,,,used normally in workshops?
Whats that little part you rested your hand on towards the end of the video? mine makes make like a little noise when your slowly causing through the woods or whatever or maybe that when I can hear it.
IF YOUR BELT IS SQUEALING I WOULD CHECK IT. YOU MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE IT. THAT SWITCH IS PART OF THE BLACK BELT COVER. THERE IS A LINK TO A SERVICE MANUAL UNDER THE TITLE OF THE VIDEO, THAT WILL SHOW HOW TO DO THAT.
I have done to my Kawasaki prairie 360 cc 2 times and it works fine. my actuator does not make the noes like it should when key is off. Does this mean that someting could b going wrong ?? please and thanks !!
i dont know if you can reset it before it actually trips the light. i never tried it. i have done a reset in the wood before. maybe you can make a cheat sheet to keep in your quad to do it in the field. thanks for watching
Quick question, will it be obvious when you actually need to replace the belt? Are there any adjustments that can be made to tighten the belt rather than fully replace it? Thanks
I WOULD START WITH CHECKING THE PLUG CONNECTORS TO SEE IF ONE CAME LOOSE. OR IT MIGHT BE THE ACTUATOR MAY NEED TO BE RESET.I PUT A LINK IN THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION SO YOU CAN GET A SERVICES MANUAL TO DOWNLOAD AND PRINT YOU MAY HAVE TO CUT AND PASTE IT TO YOUR BROWSER. HOPE THIS HELPS
Hey brother.. having issues, need help.. I have a serious annoying rattling sound coming from what seems to be the left side- loud as hell- soon as you press the gas, it rattles until you reach a decent speed and it quits... seriously annoying... new to the ATV world.. any ideas? Diagnosis? Anything..
Hi 400EX99N...thanks for all the great info posted here. I have my eye on a new 2013 Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O. Classic. Although I have heard of some reliability issues with these bikes,I have done quite a bit of comparative research.Since you have worked on many different atvs,I would like to know your opinion on the Polaris Sportsman 500. YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE OFF YOUR CARB AND GIVE IT A GOOD CLEANING IT SOUNDS TO ME THAT THE PILOT SYSTEM IS CLOGED HOPE THIS HELPS AND THANKS FOR WATCHING
my belt light is still flashing 7 times fast and 5 slow flashes and looked in my manual and it says to check my led indicator but it works in neutral and for reverse but the oil light has not come on cents light started blinking. someone said it could be my reflector but i dont that thats it its charging but my battery is junk and going to get new 1 monday and try to fix. any tips u might know ? thanks for comments !!
IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS DONE ITS NOT THAT HARD TO CHANGE A MANUAL WILL A BIG HELP, YOU MAY HAVE TO RESET THE BELT LIGHT AGAIN AFTER THE INSTALL OF THE NEW ONE. THERE IS A LINK FOR A MANUAL IN THE VIDEO DISCRIPTION FOR A 360. I WOULD TAKE OFF THE ACTUATOR AND TEST IT TO MAKE SURE ITS DEAD LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT OR NEED ANY MORE HELP

YES CHECK ALL THE PLUGS AND DOWLOAD THAT MANUAL AND READ UP ON THE ACTUATOR, IF I REMENBER RIGHT THE ACTUATOR HAS TO COME OUT.IF THIS STARTED AFTER YOU RESET THE BELT I WOULD THINK IT IS A PLUG CONNECTOR. ANY MORE HELP JUST LET ME KNOW
I have a 2007, and this procedure does not work. You do not swap the grey/black connectors, you only put the grey male into the black female, and everything else is the same. I got this info from the dealer after many failed attempts of doing it the way you are showing.
hey man got new clutch and its blinking still and 6 fast blinks and 6 short blinks i have try to reset but it will not work. i got new belt and cleaned actuator but it doesn't make the noise your does on the video?
@400EX99N The only time the Belt light comes on is when the clutch does not want to disengage. This only happens intermittently which has the added effect that I have a hard time trying to shift gears when stopped. Is there a simple fix for this? When this happens when I'm at a stop, I have to add gas and break at the same time so the motor does not stall.
it sound like your clutches are not working. you should pull the cover off and see if the clutches are moving in and out when you give it gas. one may be stuck
9 years later and this video still helped! Thanks man 🤙🏻
12 yrs later and you just saved my azzz thanks buddy 😊
