You knew we weren't gonna miss this.
Thanks for watching! Hope the new year has been good so far.
I would never miss a grown man playing with McDonald's toys
😀👍️
@@MBZ901 - Especially Peebs!
👍
As soon as i saw the ad on twitter i said to myself Peebs is gonna grab these and do a video thanks for liking the tweet about it
These mario movie toys share illumination's philosophy of being well-designed visually to sell well but lack any bit of substance, it's wild how consistent they are about that
I just hope the movie is ACTUALLY better than the Illuminations standard
The Sonic movies lack any bit of substance. I’m sorry for saying the truth. Despicable me is better than both movies.
That's what I got out of the trailer tbh. Looks like 90 or so minutes of references with little substance.
@@crashban4t.f.s.b783 Nice bait
@@timm5362 I feel like the movie will have substance, Bowser seems like an intimidating opposing treat, Mario will go through a predictable but cool character ark, and I feel like they’ll blow our minds in one way or another. But that just me
For anyone confused about the level of marketing this early for the movie (ie: toys, several trailers) it's a result of the movie being delayed but being unable to change the launch of these products.
Ohhh yeah I wondered why these toys were out months before the movie
And that’s why Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is 2 seperate games.
As someone who works at McDonald’s and was waiting for these toys (because I was gonna take them lol) I was very disappointed
These are absolutely incredible compared to the paper toys we get in the uk lol
Meh. Mcdonald's employee here too. They're definitely some of the better toys we've had in a while. At least they actually do stuff.
Why do y’all expect so much from fast food toys?
@@Rediscool9 They used to be kinda cool back in the day when I was a kid. Some even had some extra thing when put together. The one collection I remember very well was some Looney Tunes. It was 4 of them and each were in like a parade vehicle. They had wheels and attached to those wheels the character also did a thing when the wheels spun. At the front and at the end they had little hooks so that you could attach each other to kinda have a full set of parade vehicles going on at the same time. Bugs Bunny didn't have the hook in the front because he was supposed to be in front. This was over 25 years ago btw.
@@AndresLionheart One of my favorite sets was when McDonald’s did a Mario toy line back in 2006 or so. There was a Donkey Kong one that launched these flying discs and my sisters and I would play with it for hours on end laughing our asses off. The Nintendo toys Burger King had in like 2007 or so were great too. Peebs did a video on those ones
Honestly, McDonald's toy quality has been in the gutter for a good while now.
I have two Pokemon toys, one from Black and White and the other from when ORAS was coming out.
The earlier one (Dewott) was made with solid plastic, and is honestly still a cool figure!
The second one (Primal Groudon) has kinda flat, hollowed out limbs and is just...worse quality overall.
I get that it's cheaper, but I still miss ye olden days
And considering they’re planning on switching to cardboard toys in 2025, nobody is going to want their toys anymore
@@Mooms - You’re kidding, right?
@@Mooms the ones in Europe are already carboard
Yeah I got one of those cactus buddy toys from their adult McDonald's happy meal and it felt kinda hollow... I thought it was going to be a stuffed doll or something like that
@@Mooms Proof?
These toys seem to work better as display figurines than actual toys
That’s the point unfortunately. The Mario 3 toys from 1990 were cool since they each had fun play features like a jumping Mario or a jumping Paratroopa
@@trentoninnewjersey It would have been marketing GENIUS if they retooled those toys with the movie aesthetics. I mean, the retro style buckets sold out in the first week where I live because of the nostalgia factor, nostalgic retro style Mario Movie toys would have sold out in two days!
@@Dargonhuman not really..... Those old Mario toys were okay, I have them...... They're just as special as any fast food toy set for the past 20 years....... The only fast food toy set that stands out in my memory were the 1999 Pokemon release, Bionicles and the 2017 hello kitty tea cup set....... There is only so much you can do to a fast food toy........ I think nostalgia is playing in your bias.........

@@Dargonhuman maybe..... I don't think many folks give a shit if they did some reissue of a okay Mario bros 3 toy release for expect maybe radical Mario fans and hipsters......... If it was something like if they reissued the 1999 Pokemon BK promotion then yes I see the hype in that.
Idk if it’s just me getting older and seeing these things for what they really are but I remember fast food toys being so much more exciting and cool when I was a kid.
Because that's pretty much the case.
Back then when I was a kid too, they had toys that would even recquire batteries. I remember that they had some Crash Bandicoot toys, where you could play small video games on them.
Now it's just a bunch of figures who are all barely creatively made or put barely any effort into them. I mean, a bowser who has a spinning flame? Back then toys like these would have shot those fires.
@@JokukranTheileochyI vaguely remember getting a Patrick with the Krabby Patty car that you can actually turn on and off for it to go and it was the coolest thing to have at that time.
@@artagle_14 I had that same toy. It was so cool. Burger King always had the best toys
It's definitely not you. Modern fast food toys have gone stupidly cheap. They were so much better back then
Definitely not just you - someone in another comment compared these "toys" to the Mario 3 toys that McDs made in the 90s and said those actually had fun and interesting play features.
I get happy meals for my nephew a lot and it has been really disappointing to see these toys turn into simple and lazy marketing towards kids instead being at least somewhat functional and entertaining toys like how I remember them being when I was a kid. I know I’m older now and some of that magic is lost with age, but I remember at least being able to do SOMETHING enjoyable with the toys instead of just slowly moving a joint around or whatever else is shown here. It really is sad:(
Agreed! Most of the recent ones we’ve done have been really bad.
Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!$!!$$$$$)!!!!
A 90s-00s Luigi would’ve had a working flashlight 🫠
Back when Mattel did the toys for the 2002 He-Man reboot, McDonald's had the show for their toys that month, and they were simply generic figures. They didn't have much articulation (arms up and down and some could turn their waist) and He-Man's sword was huge, but they were still decent figures overall, especially for kids who couldn't afford the big boy figures. I wish fast food places had more toys like those.
Gotta admit that Luma toy is very cute though~
EDIT: Peebs go to bed you look exhausted!
I know. :(
This was right after I stayed up all night finishing the Sellout Games PBG video, but wanted to get this up asap.
@@Peebs yeah cause you went down that pipe into super Nintendo world and met Mario , Chris Pratt and Miyamoto and went to the toad bar and drinked beers all night and had a great time and forgot you were recording a video of McDonald's toys.
I’m honestly alright with that, I’d probably use them as a nice display on my shelf .
You think the US toys are bad? Ours over here in the UK are made of literal *cardboard*
LOL, yeah I saw that...
@@Peebs Would be cool if you could secure a set of the UK toys to show what a load of rubbish they are!
Unfortunately, due to the environmental reasons you guys have all of these cardboard ones (also there's spoilers in these.)
Get used to it, Murica is following suit in a couple of years. For good reason too.
Cardboard ain't even an excuse for them being as bad as they are there's a lot more you can do with cardboard :( they could at least make proper buildable models than the absolute shit theyve been doing currently. The sonic movie was one of the worst man. Waste of cardboard.
I think the reason the Mario Kart toy has a single wheel at the bottom is to give it a sort of illusion that Mario is drifting like how he does in the trailer. I mean he does kinda turn when you launch him, he turned right around to look at Peebs after he tried to launch him off the other desk.
Any time Peebs uploads a McDonald's Happy Meal Toys video, it'll be a good time and a good day
And it'll have some great taste 😀
Ok, so to get this joke, you need to watch his McDonald's commercials video
I imagine the reason Mario Kart has a ball instead of actual wheels is because of how they can hide a simpler method of the toy driving around instead of putting in the effort to make actual spinning wheels on the toy.
Toad, on the other hand, can’t really do this considering the size of the wheels and the elevation of the kart body. So the expected approach of spinning wheels was done as this cheaper alternative couldn’t be pulled off and hidden well with that toy.
I would like to think the ball is so that it can drift, but that only counts if it can actually roll properly.
The saddest thing is that the McDonald’s toys in the 2010s were actually pretty good and had cool gimmicks
I just checked the UK McDonalds website and yes, we also have "Super Mario Bros. Movie" Happy Meal stuff going on right now. But those "toys" are literally cardboard cutout pieces that require assembley. I mean, on an environmental standpoint, I can understand why they'd do that so that when the novelty's gone, they can get recycled so there's less plastic waste around but...I mean, if you design something for the sake of making it a better thing to throw away, what's even the goddamn point? xD McDonalds fell the hell off with stuff for kids since after the 90's, haha.
To be fair, actually building something can be fun in of itself.
Yeah where I am in Australia we have these cardboard cutouts. I was a bit disappointed but I understand the environmental stuff.
What I find extremely funny is how all these nostalgia based claims always contradict each other. A bunch of people in the comments caim the 90s were the last decade where they had good toys, other say they were best in the 2000s and only fell of by 2010.... it's almost like wherever your childhood decade was is the one you think is the best.
What's the point of having cardboard in your happy meal if you're just gonna throw it away after a week?
@@SWithR The point is that it can be recycled easily, unlike the plastic toys your throw away after a week.
It’s funny that mcdonalds just leaked that rosalina’s gonna be in the movie, or referenced with the luma toy
I don't know how to say this but your content and energy hasn't really changed for a number of years. But I think that's the best thing ever as I can actually get reliable good content that brings nostalgia (even though it's new episodes) and comfort at the same time.
Exactly how I feel. Never change PBG.
I clicked immediately when i saw Super Mario Bros. Movie McDonald toys. Peebs and Toasty thank you guys for making awesome content!!!!
In denmark the toys for this movie at mcdonalds are literally cardboard cutouts
I was dumbfounded when i saw it
In France too but I kinda like my Skelerex carboard cutouts
Wow. 😮
Lumalee luma-BOP welcome to McLuma's Shop!
(Seriously though Lumalee is such a specific character it's kind of shocking they're in the movie and also got a toy??)
Mcdonalds toy videos are my favorite! My Mom use to work at Mcdonalds
so I spent a lot of time hanging out at the Mcdonalds Play Ground. I use to
bring my Gameboy and my Pokemon cards and made a lot of friends there.
I was really shy as a kid (still am) but I never felt awkward when I was there! =]
Oooh man that throwback to the Wind Waker corruption video
Good stuff as always
Love every single one of these videos to bits
My daughter really loves her Toad Car. Most likely because of the GIANT wheels but I think it's also because it has some strength to it. A lot of the other Mario Kart toys that you can get from game centers are all softer plastic that easily breaks.
you randomly popped up on my suggested videos, and you had me laughing the whole time. thanks!
And to think that Europe just gets freakin' cardboard cutouts as "toys"... man, i was born in 1999, and i still remember back in my days that the Happy Meal toys were much better back then, like those electronic LCD games
When I was a kid I loved the toys that were more like statues with limited articulation, but expressive poses with the arms and legs out. I probably would have loved the DK, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser toys because they're more like that. Made it easier to play with them as action figures and gave them more replayability as apposed to toys that have a single gimmick that a child would be bored with in the first ten minutes..
Its funny how ever since Rosalina debut in Mario Galaxy in 2007 she's been in nearly every Mario game since and now it looks like she'll be in the new Mario Bros Movie because of the Luma toy, yet Waluigi who been around since 2000 has only been in Mario Sports games and thats it.
I love Rosalina but justice for waluigi!
Super weird that there's a Luma. Probably something that hasn't been revealed yet.
I like to believe theres some person somewhere in the world that displays all of their collectibles facing backwards.
12:32 Did anyone else notice that Luigi's holding the flashlight with a hand that has SIX fingers?? I can't unsee this now...
Edit: And neither can you... you're welcome.😁
Can't make me not unsee it if I don't ever see it again. >:O
@@sinteleon It's embedded itself into your mind already. Your sins and Luigi's sixth finger are inescapable...
@@Br35eakingBa56dYea, I kinda figured that as well. Still pretty funny tho. Used to like finding little mess ups like that on my toys as a kid...
They could've had Bowser just launch the fire out like a projectile, how did they screw this up?!?
They miss that opportunity
Maybe because it would be very obvious about it
2:10 Toasty, what an edit. So simple yet so satisfying (if that's the right word).
Also: 11:41 gotta love the Rhythm Heaven / Karate Man edit too.
Lumalee is from mario galaxy. He's the salesman that gives you the different mushrooms in certain levels
I ordered a happy meal earlier not knowing these were even a thing, and I was overly disappointed when I realized Toad wasn’t a wind-up car. 😂😅
Yeah the wheels look like they would be a wind up
At least you got the best one of the bunch.
Please make a video about the movie!
10:30 has me crying i love PBG singing this so much
I lauged so hard at Lumalee flying into the atmosphere and being bonked down to earth.
top tier editing in this one! fantastic job!
Those edits are amazing good job toasty
I enjoyed that Luma edit in the beginning
edit: And later in the video. Thank you for your work Toasty.
That rhythm heaven reference caught me off guard
Same
I didn't think these fast food toys could get anymore bland
In the UK they are literally made of cardboard
Man me and my brother have been watching since you did the Wind waker glitches and he stopped watching you but me never have ever stopped watching your dumb silliness I love u Peebs and happy new years
Glad I'm not the only one who thought Peach looked like a Shrek character
I love Luma noises to an almost unhealthy degree
Not even a minute in and I already send this to my likes list; good job, Peebs ❤️
I really enjoy when Peebs uses his old songs in his videos. Loved hearing "Ridin Dirty" again
I was in mcds today in the uk and the toys were super Mario movie but they were all cardboard cut outs which seems to be the norm for mcds toys these days
1:58 that's how I felt when they cast Seth Rogan as DK. (Oh God he's gonna be annoying isn't he?)
Fun fact : in france they have CARDBOARD TOYS instead of the plastic one
You're Amazing! I've been watching your UA-cam channel (s) since I started highschool that was like 4 years ago. Thanks for shaping the way I look at video games
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment. Much love!
*Does anyone remember the mario galaxy 1 and 2 toys from Mc Donald's and burger King?!* the light up Luma and light up boo
Even if these toys have less action, they are still fun to collect them due to their nice designs and appearances.
Idk... you can tell how cheap they feel through the camera. Thin, non-detailed, blobby paint, and the plastic sounds from just him holding it.
You can tell they were designed to avoid lawsuits and overall fun.
The only reason I can think of for Mario’s Kart not having actually wheels is because they were trying to emulate when the wheels go side ways and the karts hover in the game. If that’s the case, it was still very poorly done though
The kart still has the normal wheels on the toy and I don't think they would do that anyway since the kart in the movie had the normal wheels (there may be a point where the wheels turn sideways in the movie outside of the trailers, however, like how we haven't seen Lumalee in any trailers yet). Interestingly enough, there were Mario Kart 8 toys (of which I have) that emulate the wheels going sideways much better since they put wheels at the bottom and actually properly roll.
@@matthewberry2144 That doesn't matter. Mario karts could drift/powerslide long before hover wheels was a thing, and we do see it drift in the trailer without hover wheels. (does the hop that initiates a powerslide right before the title screen in the second trailer)
@@sinteleon Um... I never said that it couldn't drift without hover wheels? I was just saying the toy doesn't have the hover wheels and it didn't have it shown in the movie either
I suspect Mario’s cart is so a kid can pretend to “drift” with it. So instead of wheels that don’t turn, they gave an omnidirectional ball.
16:03 Mario's new pipe bounce power up
My guess as to why the Mario Kart toy has a ball is so that you can make it look like he's drifting around like in the trailer.
The Luma is adorable
I hope rosalina would be in the movie if thats the case.
the mario cart toy is actually a big brain idea....executed wrong. i think they wanted it to go in all directions so you can mimic drift from the games and movie.
my favorite Mario toy from McDonald’s was the toad Mario kart one. Man, that was iconic.
As someone that works at mcd's at the moment(and am upset about casting famous actors as voice actors instead of, you'know, Voice. Actors. but oh well i fkin guess)I'm very excited to see what this video has instore
edit: ...fast food toys are just getting sadder and sadder -_-
0/10 Mario in a kart did not roll off table
Love the vid , these fast food toy reviews always put a smile on my face~
I appreciate you for making my childhood it’s comforting to watch u again pbg
As a McDonald’s Happy Meal Employee, give and pile all Mario Toys while packaged in Happy Meal Box Cartons.
You would think McDonald's would try a bit harder for such a big release
Worst part is that they're out 4 months before the movie even enters theaters
So what?
@@Rediscool9 they are already trying to milk the movie for money… 4 months before the product releases
@@sethblevins8044 So you’re mad just because they’re promoting their fucking movie? The film was originally going to come out in December so that’s why the Happy Meal toys came out in December. You people really are desperate to bitch about things you know that?

you do realize the movie was supposed to release on December 2022 and they already scheduled the Mario Movie McDonald’s toys before they delayed the movie
Love your McDonalds Happy meal reviews!
The editing is always great! Keep up the good work@
I think the reason why the toys are so lazy is because the toys were leaked before they even came out with the first trailer to the movie and McDonald's rushed them into production.
My niece got the pipe one in her happy meal, and showed me because she knows I like Nintendo. My first thought was wow, this is lazy. I can't to see what Peebs has to say about these.
They could have provided stickers for the cars and loosened these wheel gimmicks a bit. Still your getting these for the characters and they look recognizable.
I'd say at the very least it's still cool that the US side of McDonald's are still producing toys for their Happy Meals. Over here in the UK, we just got a bunch of cardboard model kits instead.
I would get the toad one for my kids, if I had kids. It's all because cars *with wheels* are much better than an arm spinning. Something that I think kids would actually do with these, is play with them like action figures. You have no idea what kids are capable of with their imagination.
"I know you designed those personally, Chris" got me dying
Ah yes I'm taking spinning peach to all my bayblade matches
I love that intro where luma goes to space and then gets from back down-to-earth
Love the Peebs version of Ridin Dirty 🤣🤣🤣 10:28
Same 😂
The Bowser on the scooter, Toad's riding dirty kart, and Luigi's facial expression was the best parts.😂
This promotion spoiling a still unseen character that's apparently important enough to get its own toy is pretty funny, all thanks to the movie being delayed.
Yeah, I didn't recall seeing the luma character in the trailers. That is pretty funny.
2:10 Toasty is a legend of editing
Toad is so derpy looking and I love it. I have that toy, and it’s so fun looking at him.
Excited for another great toys video!😆💕
the creators of these toys: “you know what people love these days? Spinning!”
the Happy Meal toys from like the 2010's (for the US) were actually great, it seems they put some effort onto some details, but now there is less effort placed, just to get their grubby hands on that green sheet of paper
The fact that Charlie is gonna be Luigi is a must see for me yo.
So glad to hear Regular Dirty again
In the 90s, Bowser’s fire would’ve shot, Luigi’s flashlight would light up, and Peach would be a real spinning top.
How is it that if those toys are expensive to make, why make them that good back then if it cost a lot to do them?
This def feels like they made some really good molds that needed to stay on model and then to make them interactable it was like "UHHHH...it can move?"
I'd guess the mario mart has the track-ball for that signature mario kart drifting action, where plastic wheels would just lock it into forward movement
Please Toasty, can you just make a video of you creating all the fun sound edits! They are brilliant!!
I think the reason for the Kart Mario one having the ball-bearing instead of wheels is to make it easier to have him drift, like he did in the trailer.
They feel a bit like Kinder Surprise toys. Those are usually just figurines or collectibles, which makes them still relevant to kids, just not as toys.
Literally got the luigi mcdonalds toy the other day and was laughing about how they tried to make the instructions on the package look complex when it only moves like a centimeter
The figures are cool sculpts, its def basic action features but still pretty cool figs
“They see me rollin and they are hating me”
This is pretty cool to watch!
I just checked out what toys we're getting over here in the UK and well… since the removal of plastic toys we've got a bunch of toys made of 2D parts…
