i actually am trying this without the paint and just the pencil because it looks good without the paint! I'm a first time reborn artist and I'm making my first doll this week! I'm so excited! This was so helpful!
Kawaii Panda did you try it? I’m making my first doll now. He’s turning out great but I’m trying to decide what to do with the hair.
i'm gonna do the same i think
Very nice job on the hair , i,m not confident to paint hair yet but the pencil version i would like to have a go at until i, get better at it, i shall watch your tutorial and see what i can pick up, thanks so much Jackie.
That looks gorgeous even without paint!
wow I loved every minute of that video 💕💕💕
I wish I could like this video a thousand times!! I have paid for hair panting tutorials and still I couldn't see exactly how they did it. This video is clear and you explains thing well!! Thank you Jackie for all of your wonderful videos. They have helped me so much!
que bebê
YAY YAY YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jackie so much for making this video!!!! I love how you paint your reborn hair!
Wow that looks so good Jackie I’m gonna try making my first doll you inspire me
Wow Jackie! Thank you thank you thank you for sharing. I've been reborning for 5 years and have been too scared to try painted hair. I'm donating some dolls to a nursing home my mum works at and need to paint the hair instead of root it. I feel I can give this a good go now thanks to you. A prototype artist sharing, sharing for free, you have a heart of gold ❤
Thank you for your tutorial on how to paint on hair. You make it look so easy to do.
This helped me alot. Im about to buy my first kit. ❤
Very nice job Jackie
Arrasou! Perfeito!
I really love your work. You are a fantastic artist.
Amazing work !! Thanx Jackie ❤️
This video was so informative and helpful! I'm definitely going to try using pencil first when I do painted hair. Thank you for sharing!
this is super helpful, thank you so much!
Wow thats so cool Jackie thanks for sharing😉
OMG Jackie!!!!! THANK YOU!!! You are THE BEST!!!
Beautiful work Jackie!
The penciled in hair alone looks incredible!!! I purchased a used Ashton Drake "Josh" who has lost his wig that I'd like to replace with painted hair. I'm only just beginning the hobby of reborning and I've really enjoyed your tutorials thus far, your work is beautiful!
Wow, Love the look. Thanks!
Thanks Jackie for your tutorial, I look forward to always learning from you.
you are the BEST at rooting hair. Ive looked at many videos ... You do an Awesome Job! Hope to find you and Stephanie doing well....
Wow, this is so neat to see how you do this! I think both you and Stephanie are awesome artists!!!
Wow!!! love

You do such beautiful work.

Thanks so much Jackie, keep em commin!!
Awesome !
Your video is an excellent tutorial. I’m getting ready to paint a head and this really helped. Thank you.
Beautiful and you make it look so easy
Hi Jackie! I love your work and your videos! Question...I am using a prisma pencil and it will not mark on my doll. Have you ever had this happen, if so, how do I fix this? I am so happy with how my first baby has turned out after painting and I am anxious to get her hair done. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and talent with us!
Use soft wax prisma pencils. There are two different varieties.
thanks for sharing this it was really helpful! xx
You are awesome!!!
I love your technique! And I want to try it too...but idk why, my prisma color pencils don't want to draw on any of the vinyl dolls I have... is there a trick to it? Thanks!
If you rub the end of the pencil with your fingernail, it usually start marking.
Aloha Baby Dolls mine won’t show up either! Any help?
I adore your nails,my nails break every two seconds.i think it must be more difficult to paint the hair than rooting, you are very talented and seem like you really enjoy what you do,xxhugs
Great video. as much as i want to start reborning, i have no talent whatsoever! lol you are great at what you do!
Interesting... thank you. Does the pencil stay on under the varnish? Is it ordinary pencil?
Thanks so much for these videos. i think i actually may be able to paint hair at some point. I love rooting hair but it isn't always practical. I want to give some dolls away to kids and they need a little less artsy and more sturdy bodies. i remember cutting hair on my barbies so i am sure someone who got a rooted hair doll might wish to do some styling *s*
it will have to be on someone else's doll!
thanks again.
Thank you so much Jackie!!
Oh my Lord you are so amazingly talented. I can't even draw stick figures let alone draw/sketch.paint a full head of hair on a kit. Bless you. I am blown away. Besides reborns what other outlets do you have or use to be artistic?
Thanks Karen
Oh i see now why my hairs paint was looking horrible. I haved using the same technic with prismacolor and seal them the same way with thinning med.. The difference was that i haved apply my thinning with a brush 😳😳😳 believe me i will never do it again after seeing you use a simple sponge.. Thank you for this video its always constructive. 👍🏼😘 also sorry for last post i haved listen it without volume :( thanks for that share Jackie
It's a lil' scarlett😍
super!
I also use the Prisma Pencils and I use matte varnish and bake it on the sculpt and it helps the pencil to be applied.
Deborah Guerrera my prisma pencils won’t show up on my dolls head! Any help with how to make them glide on ??
Beautiful work, Jackie! I've done one doll with rooted hair and one with painted hair. They both look cute, but the painted hair is my favorite. Do you have a favorite way to do your doll's hair, Jackie?
hi from switzerland jacky i love you work you do better and better
cool
you are so encouraging Jackie! Thank You!!!! i purchased the 42G forked needles and made my own clay handle like in your tutorial, now I'm just waiting for my Delta Dawn hair and i will be rooting for the first time. AHHHHHHH!!!!! this video helps because like you said in your previous tutorial, this is an easy way to map when you root as well!
i just want to say, you have given me so much confidence. when i first started my reborn i felt like i already knew what to do and it ended up coming so natural for me. hopefully one day i will be able to paint hair.
I habe a question about the magnets you use for the pacifiers and to put in the heads. do you order them online or is there a certain store you pick them up from? i went to walmart and hobby lobby and both didn't have ones even similar to yours. walmart was out of almost all of their different magnets but the employee said he's not sure if they even carry them.
I'm sorry this is so long but i have ONE MORE QUESTION lol! could you give me advice on where to start selling my reborns? i know there are a lot of fakes out there and i want people to know that they can trust me. i plan on starting a Facebook page with my nursery name and putting a stamp on all of my pictures so that they know they are mine but is there something else i can do so that people know that i am legit? thanks again Jackie!!! :)
Thank you this was super helpful .
Ola esse é o melhor video que vi sobre pintura de cabelo...
Thanks Jackie!
very helpfull!
Thank you, do you put a texture on the painted hair when finished to give a 3D effect and if so what do you recommend.
Wowww.how can I take care the paint on my doll head.will it wear and tear.
Can it air dry or do you have to bake it and can you used a regular oven
rhank you for this, i got my first kit ,does this work the same when you use air dry paints?
Thank you so. You helping me out
How do you get the pencil to "draw" consistently? I tend to have large spots where I do the pencil but it simply doesn't show up. I've tried doing matte sealing layers but it doesn't always help. Any advice?
What sort of primsa color pencil would you use for auburn hair?
Hi Jackie. What would it look like if you penciled the hair then rooted a little tufts of hair like in the top and or sides? Have you ever done that?
You stamped on thinning medium at the end, but then you said you had varnished the head. Do you add varnish after you bake it the first time?
If ur painting hair on a doll that’s already finished, what do you do before, during, and after painting? Product wise?
I hope I am answering your question correctly. If you're using strictly paint, you don't have to do anything in particular to the doll before and during painting. I would just recommend sealing your work when you're done painting the hair. For sealing, I either use Genesis thinning medium or matte varnish. I hope that helps.
I'm trying so hard to learn how to do painted hair and the issues I'm having is more with the pencil or paint flowing and sticking to the surface of the vinyl...is there something you do to prepare the vinyl before you use the pencils or paint that will make it glide across the surface better?
I have a question. I'm reborning to first baby soo and I am going to do painted hair on her. What if I make a little mistake on the pencil sketch? how do I get rid of it? do I erase it or do I use paint thinner to get it off? Also where do I get the thinning medium paint? would bountiful baby work?
I recently purchase an Antonio Sanchis reborn, Sarah doll. She came with beautifully painted hair, that was finished with a texture sheen. It is now developing white cloudy patches on the sides of her head. Do you know why this is happening and if its fixable?
Does the prisma pencil rub off easily if you make a mistake?
How long do you bake it and what temperature pls and thank you!
Question for you. I thought you were supposed to seal with a varnish, and thinning medium is just a thinner.
I tried to do my dolls hair today and it came out so bad lol I just had to pounce it off. I guess I can’t figure out the right paint to water and finisher ratio
Is this a special prismacolor pencil, or just their typical art pencills?
what type of Prisma color pencil do you use ?
Hi!! Do you use water for painting? I tried to use a pencil but it didn't mark!
Que color usas y de q marca, me encanta tu trabajo
Do u seal the doll before painting hair???
I have a brown pencil for brows, I am not good in browd do mostly I leave it out or do the area slightly darker when I do the majer paint, I think I need a testhead to learn them (or mor for three years ;)) But can you show how to make it with a pencil to? I prefer Brush für veins than pencil, but may for the brows to start with it is easier. And do you sometimes root the brows? I made that but it is also not very good, i have not made many Babys, I do it only for myself. so the practise is not there
And what do you mean about baking twice? do you mean, do the pencil sketch, varnish it, bake it, let it cool, bake it again and repeat? and do you bake at 265 for about 9 minutes or so
Could you draw your hair and just matte varnish over it and not paint over it? I like the way the veining shows thru plus for a newborn with thin hair the pencil drawn looks just right-have you ever done that in the past?
ok i have issues because either im too scared and not drawing hard enough or my pencil is old cus it dont show up. is there something i need to do?
your just using thinning medium and not matte varnish?
Hi Jackie I'm trying to get up the nerve to paint hair on one of my reborns I have purchased every thing I need ,have my baby all painted but so scared I'm going to ruin my doll head I was just wondering did it take practice or did it come natural to you ,your a awesome artist thanks
Debbie Taulbee Practice makes perfect! I'd suggest buying a cheap baby doll and practicing on them first if you're scared of ruining your doll's head :)
You know what, i'm getting a reborn kit and supplies, but i totally agree with you. Only thing is that i think you should just go for it! Because the sooner you start, the quicker of a great reborn artist you will become! P.S sorry i'm like ten months late
Hey Jackie, what’s the cheapest you can send a baby or toddler to NB Canada?
Where do you get the gennises thinking med ?
This is what my real babies hair looked like when they were born!
Jackie, do you do custom orders?
My pencil will not mark on my baby. If I push hard enough to leave a mark, the tip breaks off. I don't know if I missed something? Help, please!
could I use like a crayons pencil?
I can't get my prisma pencils to work on my dolls.
Make sure you add a type of varnish on the doll first. It never works without it. I usually use GHSP matte varnish or thinning medium. Make sure your layer is thin for the best results
Why do you need to bake it?
hi how much will you charge to paint hair on my reborn toddler head
When I use my prisma pencil it won’t show up? No matter how much I sharpen the pencil it won’t glide like this and doesn’t show the color. Help? :(
Please, where I can bye the pencil? Please 😊
Es en pintura genesis.
