This attack always bothered me because why doesn’t he just do this first. Like I get why from a gameplay standpoint, but from a narrative one he’s trying to get you to quit. He has an attack that literally never ends, but he doesn’t use this instant death attack in every situation.
I guess Toby just couldn't think of a better way to portray Frisk letting down their guard for Sans to kill them without the player suddenly dodging the attack. I don't think the bone attack is literal, it's just showing how Frisk made themselves vulnerable by laying down their weapon or getting on their knees or something lol.
It's not portrayed very well or if at all, but I'm guessing what happens when you spare sans when he asks to, they put down or drop their weapon, and when sans says "c'mere, pal," he's hugging Frisk but then he also does a bone attack, and it's all over the battlefield and not dodgeable because he's holding you down hugging you
Killing Flowey does not affect pacifist route. I did it and the pacifist route goes on like normal. When I reset the game Flowey did not show up in the beginning, but he shows up in the ending.

He kills you after you spare him, so you are off-guard and one hit. Like if you spare a monster and then kill them, they die in one hit.
