Maybe for the hex instead of summoning one undead ally, they could make some special moon creature that drops down with real AI and attacks that are good at crowd control. It's just weird having a hex and a duo boon doing essentially the same thing
yeahh i was thinking along the same lines, the hexes could be used to modify that golem/ solider like upgrading defenses, changing attributes like water, ice, rock, fire etc... or changing the form from 1 summon to multiple smaller, quicker ones with bigger range.
I got 6-digit damage with Dark Side on my first successful 32-Fear Surface run. The problem with a lot of Hexes is that you need to go really deep into the Path of Stars for them to feel strong.
There's also that Hexes and their trees can't be rerolled- it's rng on top of rng to get those specific heavy hitter combinations like Dark Side (pseudo-Omega) Cast spam, when the "good" 3-4 Hexes don't have/need their basic functionality drastically altered by upgrades
@@vaibhavdesai7001 Sure! I was running Aspect of Moros (although the build probably works just as well with Aspect of Mel) with Born Gain and Blood Lines. Lets me charge up Hexes *extremely* quickly, so i had around 75% uptime on Dark Side. The main struggle is making sure you never run out of Magick. You can get literally anything else.
Now that you've used the Hex on Scylla/Sirens, the very next time you reach them, Scylla will comment on how you made the band have a "public argument" 🙂 Love the attention to detail the Devs have put in.
24:45 4590 damage = 900 damage explosion for summon timing out, times 1.7, times 3 for critting (First Blood). I'm not exactly sure on the math behind the 1.7: you had +40% servant damage from Path of Stars, +40% from Shameless attitude, +25% from Strength. No status curses were on the moneybag that took the damage. No combination of those numbers adds up to +70%, nor is it clear what should boost the explosion damage.
necromancy hex needs a blue upgrade that causes your projectiles to duplicate (similar to torches split spark hammer), so instead of them eating your shots they duplicate them
I was honestly bit surprised when Hades , a game so focused on death , god of death etc didn't have any aspect of necromancy mentioned in Hades1. Turning the hidden aspect of staff or daggers to necromancer weapon would be kinda cool ig with abilities similar to that class and the hex can act similar to Paragon system games like Diablo immortal... ( i think they already do but can be better)
22:41 nah the tomato throwers and the boxers just do stupid amounts of damage, that isn't the vengeance boons. This path of stars was really bad luck, the => branch pattern sucks as it only offers 2 bright upgrades while night bloom has 5 total, 3 of which are really good (indefinite instead of 12 seconds, 63% faster attack speed, and the retaliation one), and only 1 sublime upgrade while there are 2 total, and the other sublime upgrade (servant's strikes gain your special's boon) is by far the better of the two since the servants are actually quite tanky and don't die often. So worth noting that this could have been 63% faster *and* your tomato thrower could have had say freeze/blitz/poseidon splash per their hits. The only thing to remember with night bloom is that the summon is not random, it is the last killed enemy so you'd typically run this with a less indiscriminate weapon, kill the best enemy (like the harpoon guys in oceanus or an automaton in olympus) and *then* pop the hex. Is it too much work for high fear and kinda pointless for no fear? Yes! But it's very fun lmao
Absolutely agree with all of this. Really can't understate just how much uptime and damage the speed upgrade adds. And this hex path needs to be changed, badly, as it's so wildly, disproportionately weaker than any other; I just give up the run if I get it on Aspect of Selene and don't see Prism, for example. Not only do you lose a bright node and a sublime node compared to every other path, you also have your bright nodes four spaces in instead of three for some reason, and with no path overlap.
@LoudmouthedCrow oooh interesting, because I actually like cascade over prism but if I don't get ferocity (attack boon on skyfall) then the run's over and even with the > shaped branch, which is also *really* bad since although it has 3 bright upgrades, 2 are like 5 nodes in and it still has 1 sublime node; you're guaranteed to see ferocity but with => it's ggs. I really don't get why we have to face 3 tiers of randomness here because you can only get 3 hexes offered per run, the base number of path of stars is random, and then the hex path is also random and *none of this can be rolled!* I have to say, I REALLY like all hexes in the game, whether it be twilight curse or total eclipse, but the 3 degrees of non-rollable randomness is a tad much
@@theformation3781 I should clarify, I'm playing 50 fear and just kept timing out in the first region if I took Selene's keepsake and didn't roll Prism. Which is possibly a skill issue, but getting Prism definitely saves like an entire minute over Cascade in the first region. Ferocity is good (and really spikes in power with Hera or Aphrodite attack), but since I would often not get an attack boon for the entire first region when starting Selene's keepsake, I was fine taking the also-strong Scorn instead if I could reach it with the 1 spare point after Prism.
@LoudmouthedCrow ohhh, probably coz prism has way more room clearing potential right?, gotcha. I need to reevaluate aspect of selene then, it is probably the most complex aspect yet I feel
@@theformation3781 Yeah, Prism doing literally triple damage for purpose of roomclearing (or even better than triple with Hitch) is just a huge difference. Prism with a couple extra ticks basically just autokills an entire wave in the first two regions in all but the largest rooms. Staggering three enemies instead of one is also a huge help.
I don’t understand the dislike of the morph hex. It is so helpful, you stop damage from 5 enemies at a time, which can be huge. I think it’s honestly one of the most useful hexes in the game.
Honestly summoning the rats might be the most effective use of Night Bloom given the Sublime you got. It's basically a better version of Total Eclipse lmao
for the record there is a blue upgrade that allows your summons to use your attack boon. but there's also the same boon for the beam. so just use the beam.
Sun Worshiper is fine if you just get it offered as you don't really have to think about it and sometimes you get some big hitter (with the duo buff!). But the Hex requires too much investment, and Obsession is just ass...
Question for both Haelian and the community: if there was a keepsake with the effect: "You are joined by another familiar for {1/2/3} regions." Would you ever find yourself taking it?
If you get to choose, meh, still mid (unless we get many more upgrade levels for our familiars first). If you don't get to choose, FUCK no- Toula can turn off Strength. And the sad thing is given what we've seen so far out of Keepsakes, it'll probably be the latter.
Soooo... What if I tell you that you can have a 6hammers build? How? With a lot of luck. You get one Hammer at the begging. Then, in the fields, you need to artifice ashes, bones or something into a hammer, but it need to be done in a zone that already has a hammer as a reward and you have to take it only after. Then you "just" need to find Echo, using the keepsake for another one and being lucky enough to get the anvil at the end. Et voilà, 6 hammers build for you. I can assure you that it's possible, because it almost happened to me (no Echo)
Really think you shouldn't be able to hit your friends. They take drastically reduced damage from you anyway so why not just go all the way with it and make it so we can't freeze them and stuff
Honestly can’t stand this hex. Any other would be better. But interesting to see you build around it. I definitely prefer the polymorph. Being able to control 6 mobs and have them take extra damage is very useful especially on the surface where you’re on the ship and it’s a very confined space with lots of environmental hazards. Honestly underground feels incredibly easy compared to surface now.
So. Do you guys think Zagreus' other weapons will cameo the same way the Blade and the Rail do? Since Nem has the Blade (2nd aspect of Zag sword was Nemesis) and Eris has the Rail... I wonder how we would see the Spear, Bow, Shield and Fists manifest. That would be dope.
Maybe for the hex instead of summoning one undead ally, they could make some special moon creature that drops down with real AI and attacks that are good at crowd control. It's just weird having a hex and a duo boon doing essentially the same thing
That would be way better, that way it's more flavorful too.
Maybe like a spirit version of Selenes' steeds? They could trample enemies and shove them around
yeahh i was thinking along the same lines, the hexes could be used to modify that golem/ solider like upgrading defenses, changing attributes like water, ice, rock, fire etc... or changing the form from 1 summon to multiple smaller, quicker ones with bigger range.
