    That little Kill Em All section was fire! Nice playing! And of course the Jem's a beauty. Crossing my fingers and hoping the stars align for me to grab one someday, definitely one of my favorite guitars. Wish Ibanez would add a premium line option of these 777 variants, I think they would sell like crazy! Doesn't get better than these color combos and the pyramid inlays.

    super cool review..relaxed! cheers and nice playing! I am looking for a Jem 777 myself...not sure yet if to buy new or used...but, from what I can see, they sure age nicely

      I love the old necks, so definitely check the old ones. 😍 ✌

    Nice story and great playing. Jem 777dy is my dream guitar, but I'm thinking about buying a cheaper option, jem junior. At least until I save enough money for 777dy. Even anniversary model is hard to find on the market, not to mention originals from 80's and 90's. Viel Spaß mit deinem Jem!

      Thanks man! I couldn't get my hands on a JEM junior yet, but I guess you will get a good guitar for a reasonable price. I wouldn't spend 3k on an anniversary model, but I keep my fingers crossed for you that you maybe find a used one for an ok price. They are an absolute dream to play. ✌🥰

      JEM Jr has a weak tremolo. I’d save up for a real JEM.

    just saw your RG Genesis video...and wanted to have a look at th neck joint...so as it appears..they are different, with the Genesis being bulkier than the JEM...

    • @schorschharrison
      @schorschharrison  2 роки тому

      Oh, good point. I haven't compared the neck joints from the RG Genesis with the JEM. It will feel alien to you if you come from an AANJ to a Genesis or JEM. ✌❤

      @@schorschharrison yeah, had an Ibanez with the AANJ..a prestige a while back. My Jackson DK2M Japan has the same neck joint type as the JEM...more cut into the body than the RG550...

    My understanding is that Ibanez didn't introduce the 2 digit year at the beginning of the serial number until the end of the 1st decade of production (which for the Jem would have been 1997/8). Your guitar starts with a '9' and is more likely a 1989 model.
    To confuse matters further, some Jems had a number on the neck plate and another on the headstock (often a sticker) and these numbers didn't match. In these cases the headstock number was the actual serial number. There are also a batch of Jems with neckplate numbers starting with 25's & 26's which give no indication of actual year.
    As you say, Ibanez were not the most 'transparent' with their serial numbers..

      Thank you so much for your reply and explanation! Yeah, pretty confusing to determine the actual production year. After checking various websites, they state "some" had an additional sticker on the headstock. As I bought mine second hand, I am not going to find out if this was the case here. Acc to ibanezrules.com, they indeed had the 2 digit year system back in the 80's. I guess, we'll never know for sure :-) Cheers!

      @@schorschharrison who am I to claim to know better than Rich @ IbanezRules? I queried the age of a Jem77FP on sellmyjem.com which I thought was a '90 and that was the explanantion I was given for it being an '89. In reality, who cares! - it's only a year difference.
      I'm impressed by the fab condition of your 777DY. You have clearly looked after it. I have a DY 30th Anniversary and it's pretty epic but I'd love to try an original. Rock on Dude!!

      @schorschharrison  4 роки тому

      @@ThePedroDB Haha, yes who cares?! :-) Thanks, well I try my best to keep it in the best condition possible. It lives in a case, not on a wall to prevent the colour from further fading. If you take a closer look, you can definitely see its age. I guess that's mojo :-) The 30th Anniversary model is an awesome piece of gear, have fun with it! Plays as good as the old ones.

      @@schorschharrison Just spotted this RG550 on Reverb. Note the Serial Number starts with Zero and it's claimed to be a 1990 model. Who knows..

      @@ThePedroDB Definitely! F stands for the Fujigen factory and according to the production number, you can even determine that this is guitar number 515 produced in November 1990.
