Hi my name is Mike and I'm a Posa-holic, seriously I've watched over 70 hours of your excellent videos (only subscribed about a month ago). Wanted to see the one that started it all, A+ then and A+ now. Keep doing what your doing, loving it. I live on the West shore of Lake Michigan and we never see anything like that. P.S. Give Monty and Rueger a hug from me.
Thanks for the fascinating vid. I lived in Michigan most of my life and spent every available moment camping up in the UP. Superior was always my favorite of the lakes but I have to admit I only went out on her once and she scared the hell out of me. I miss those days but now live at the bottom of the country instead of the top so all I have are the memories of that beautiful place.
Wow! I hadn't viewed this video until today, that was scary impressive. I also realized when I saw the branch slap where part of your intro came from. Really cool vid!
I too was born and raised and spent most of my life in Michigan. I miss the lakes, they were beautiful, awe inspiring and at times like this damned frightening.
@@MatthewPosa What other Countries have you visited ? Michigan looks incredibly beautiful & have everything a person could need but are there any other places/countries you are curious to visit ? 😘😘😘
Loved the slow mo parts Mathew. You have captured those shots very well. Including the sound of Mr Grizzly Posa Bear . lol. Looked an exciting adventure as always .
Beautiful place. That aside, there is a weather phenomena that creates the big waves this time of year. It has to do with the air temperature becoming equal to the water temperature. I'm not sure if there is a name for this but I studied it in college; been too long ago for me to recall the details. This event creates "The Gales of November", caused the sinking of The Edmund Fitzgerald, and is creating the beautiful sight you have captured in this video.
Wow the raw power of LS! I’m a new subscriber to your channel and I’m loving your style! I lived in MI most of my life and moved to North Carolina 5 years ago. Thank you for posting this video it made me smile!
I'm about 200 hundred miles northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Superior has always intrigued me, a big part of it because of the Edmund Fitzgerald and of it's rugged shoreline.
Holey Moley. I've never seen Lake Ontario like that my whole life. That is so mean looking. Lucky it didn't sweet you off your feet, as rock is slippery as wet wood. Yet so beautiful!!! Awesome footage. Drone footage would have been awesome to see you guys below on the rocks. You should have sent that footage into the weather men on tv.
Just re-watching some of your older videos, this one is breathtaking, the slow motion part is so cool. That " Fresh Water Sea" has some awesome power 😳😮. This is an incredible start to an amazing UA-cam channel 😃👍❤️. You've mentioned you were born & raised in Michigan, a beautiful place with everything a person could need, the most stunning scenery with colours you don't see anywhere else & beautiful endless lakes.🐟🎏🚣🌲 🌲🏞️ Are there any other Countries or places you have visited or would like to visit one day ❓❓ Thank you for all the beautiful, interesting & funny videos, I keep sharing them to friends & recommend them to everyone I meet. Keep safe & well, love to yourself, Funk, Monty & Rueger 😘😘😘
Omg astonishing mesmerizing breathtaking! u so lucky to be present in that moment; thank you for posting- I truly wish I had a pic enlarged of it somehow 🤩
This whole video is amazing! Glad you captured the wrath of Gitche Gumee! 5:58 is my favorite part though, lol my mom and I rewatched that part over and over!
Am currently resting after a double shift, brain won't switch off so decided to watch some Matt Posa Adventures I haven't seen in a while. Still can't get over how wild & stunning this is💦💨💨
Fantastic Footage, you gotta love a good storm. genuine LOL when the branch got you. i'd have posted that as' Pacific storm off the coast of Washington state'. see who spots the real location. i spent a bit of time near the lakes back in 1994, Niagara falls obviously, then down past lake Eirie as i recall. didn't see Superior, as we were on our way west.
After watching today's video, I decided to take it all the wayyyy back to the VERY BEGINNING!!! I'll be hanging out with Posa & the Puppers for the rest of the day!!!
I laughed so hard when the branch hit you but also because you laughed too lol that was incredible, the slow motion at the end was magnificent, I am wondering if you are or were already in school for outdoor film and photography, you seem to have an extraordinary skill with capturing moments, even in your newer videos you have the camera set up in so many different fun ways, especially the waking up parts with Monty🙂 I love watching your videos so much, You and Monty are the BEST!!! 💗
This is absolutely beautiful. I'm looking at going to college in Duluth and If the lake is as beautiful there as it is in the video that may be my tipping point.
It sure can be. I will say that Duluth is kind of the Armpit on Lake Superior but with that said, you have some beautiful country all around. If you want nature and forest, you will be close to one of my favorite places to camp, the Boundary Waters.
Wow so many ships have been lost in Lake Superior. The Edmond Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior on November 10, 1975. I was 28 years old on the day it happened. I live in Southern WI what a terrible day.
Ouch! (I watched vid to the end.) Do you live close enough to revisit this site, to compare what the view looks like under normal conditions. Very good quality production, and editing. The slow motion audio was a little eerie. :-) Ted
Ted D. Thanks! I do live close enough but you can see them pretty good in this video: ua-cam.com/video/y6mGu3CtUIo/v-deo.html the blackrocks are shown at 45 seconds in.
I've been to the UP a zillion times, well maybe not that many, but lots, seen some storms, this was impressive!! I went up when the lakes froze over nearly 100%, walked a long way out, huge ice push ups all over, very cool!
Oh, I love the big lakes as much as I fear them. Lake Michigan gets big and angry like that sometimes, and people line up their cars on the roads along the shore to get a natural car wash. Lol!
"Matt", if you had not labeled--and documented this--as you did, well, with the somewhat similar vegetation, I'd had been fooled that I was on the Maine coast, peering out over the Atlantic.
There were definitely people surfing but not at this location. They were 3-4 miles away on a beach. It would be pretty dangerous to surf here cause it gets so deep so fast.
I wonder if the CoastGuard have reconsidered the decision they made when they blew up Marquette's Fog Horn many years ago? I miss it along with the train which ran on tracks behind our house. they won't be blowing up Lake Superior, it's one sound of my childhood I can rely upon always to be there. MOTHER NATURE RULES🙆🌎🎼🐯
It's hard to say exactly what time, I released the video a few hours after I recorded it. I want to say around 11 or noonish maybe. I know that it was before the island was shut down and before the tragic accident happened.
Well I'm one of your newest of course you know this subscribers and now watching your first video that I know of that's some crazy s*** . We live in Michigan about 30 minutes from Lake Michigan I have never seen it that bad pretty bad but I don't think that bad great video great footage take care. Don

I love him and his beautiful dog Monty!😃😍👍👍👍🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

@@MatthewPosa Natures fury started Posa's journeys. Love it!
Blimey that's a lake? Looks like the sea so rough!
I constantly refer to it as the fresh water sea. She can be rough.
2nd largest lake in the world.
2nd Largest fresh water lake by volume. But Largest fresh water lake in the world by surface area! (I always like stickin' to surface area! ;)
