    A great review, but I do have two slight complaints;
    1) Waternoose felt bad about banishing Sully because Sully was his friend and former student, and he didn't like abandoning the methods that his family built the company on, but felt he had to do it to keep the company alive.
    2) Mike and Sulley's falling out was resolved. Mike came back to apologize to Sulley, and Mike didn't just come out of nowhere, it is implied that he came through a child's door in the Himilayas, just as Sully did, as he is still holding a snowball.

    I think Mikey's acceptance and willingness to help get Boo home speaks for the resolution of sully's and mike's argument and overall relationship. The supporting cast aren't the best ever, but I don't think it really matters as much, because they aren't as important or prominent as other supporting characters have been in other pixar movies. The film knows that the focus should just be on the 3 main characters, and it does that very well. I see some of your points, but I still enjoy this movie

    Randall? Not a threat? He almost made Sulley fall hundreds of feet to his death.

      You know who else said that Randall Boggs is not a strong villain???? Doug Walker! He perhaps just wants to state that he does not like Monsters' Inc, Hercules, Big Hero 6, Howl's Moving Castle, The Jungle Book (2016) and many other amazing, mindful Disney movies just because many other people like these films. >8(

    Monsters University is surprisingly a huge improvement on Monsters Inc. (and I really liked that film!) Very funny yet also a really sweet story, quite honestly one of my favourite Disney Pixar movies (along with Toy Story 3 and The Incredibles).

    Trilbee, there was a deleted scene when Sulley is running to find Boo when he stumbles onto a room with kid sized cages, implying that they were kidnapping children to make the scream extractor work. They were testing the extractor on Boo to see if it would work.

    Another great review Trilbee, While I disagree in some aspects, I can definitely see why you gave it the final score you did. I also wanted to ask as I saw it on Wednesday and heard you would possibly be doing a review on it, are you going to be doing a review on 'Now You See Me'? As an aspiring critic myself, I'd like to see what you thought of the movie :)

    The part between Sully and Boo i completely agree with straight off the bat, that emotional scene should have definitely gone somewhere instead of just being left alone.
    I love movies that pull on the heart strings then give it that extra oomph to make it hurt.
    Does that make sense? Ahaha.

    It's one of my favorite movies, but then again I have loads of nostalgia for this film, I first saw it when I was 6 or 7 years old so watching it again brings back some nostalgia. But I think almost every character is great (not including Randall) and I think the animation, premise and music is absolutely brilliant! Out of ten I would give it a nine!

  • @Thelna1
    @Thelna1 10 років тому +6

    The movie is very good, because it keeps things very simple. Even 3 and 4 year old kids tend to not get too bored watching this. Remember 3 year old kids have almost no ability to pay attention to a plot that lasts longer than 3 minutes.
    this movie gets a lot right as far as keeping it simple. believe me, too many interesting characters would have made this movie too deep for a little child.
    plan makes no sense to us adults, 3 year old kids have no idea about a plan deeper then walking to a table, getting a cookie and eating it.

    • @willier47
      @willier47 10 років тому +5

      This plot makes sense for adults who think.
      TrilbeeReviews The reason why they are going after this particular child is because she is Randall's scare assignment. He was using the door after hours. Until sully let Boo out on accident. Now how do you think that would look if your assignment is missing, and there's a child running around?
      They were going to test the machine on Boo in the first. Randall claims he was going to run the company, cause he is a snake in the grass obviously. Unless he means the way Sullivan is top scarer and is "The man."
      If the machine works of course they're not going public. Why do you think the CDF was investigating them. They are trying to get as much energy as possible. Plus this is why they say children are toxic to prevent things like this. Monsters inc will need scarers so they can probably scare kids while they' re in that machine. I don't think they'll do it by themselves.
      We already saw what the machine does. It sucks the scream out by force demonstrated on Mike's captor with his lips turned out.

    Yeah the Mike Sully fallout could've really have been more forced, why is Mike even mad at Sully? Them being banished wasn't really his fault.

    I haven't seen Monsters Inc since I was a Kid & I loved it! However, looking back on the film after watching your review, I've got to say that you've made some really good points, & from I remembe of the film, I'd say that for the most part, I agree completely!

  • @bigfatcarp93
    @bigfatcarp93 11 років тому +1

    (continued) criticized for being uninteresting, but I honestly think that all three get a passing grade just by being awesome or scary. Randall, especially, is a villain in a kid's movie. He doesn't need deep motivations, he just needs to be chilling. And he is that in spades.

    You already have a decent looking, brown picture frame around the clips that you're showing. If you keep the frame and expand the clips to fill the size, would that not be enough to stop copyright issues?

    The spark didn't run out really. They only really had one big spark. Most of their good movies where planned right after Toy Story if I recall, Up being the only movie that wasn't in the bin and that one while good ripped off what every Pixar Movie is:
    Two unlikely characters become close friends set to an originalish setting.
    An old jaded man and a happy little kid
    A trash robot and a new life explorer
    a Mid-life crisis between a Married couple with the kids along for the ride
    etc.

    Dude screw you! 3/5? When I was growing up this was one of my favorite movies! And in my favorite Pixar movies its only topped be Toy Story 1 and 3! And you say its "emotionally lacking"! When I was like 5-6 and watched this movie I cried And when I talk to anyone who has seen it. They all say its one of the best Pixar films... And finally....SCREW YOU! SCREW YOU for saying this is a average film SCREW!!!!!!!YOU!!!!!!!

    1 it rode the coattails of great pixar movies and rode on the wave as more came out.
    2 it came out after 911 and some changes (namely the "isolation bubble around the sushi bar) had to be made last minite
    3 it also was the movie that tought children its ok not to be afaraid.
    4 I to was in the conundrum of why did I like this movie and believe it came down to a "pixar can do no wrong" (except for cars 2) mentality

    While I don't think you're entirely wrong here, I do have one point of contention: you seem to have this recurring idea in your reviews that a villain is only good if they are a complex, multi-layered character, with a complex motivation. And while that's certainly a good way to do a villain, I think you sometimes miss the idea that a bad guy can be good on intimidation factor alone.
    I'm mainly thinking of characters like Randall, Red Skull, and Dr. Simeon, all of whom you (continued)

    I'm quite surprised how much I agree with you that I remember liking the film ten years ago but can't actually remember what happened. I think your review was very well argued except for it being Pixar's worst. I found the world of Monsters Inc far more interesting and easier to lose myself in than A Bug's Life or Cars. But it is quite far off the emotional impact of WALL-E, Up or Toy Story 3.
