- The Boeing 747 is known as the "Queen of the Skies". The Boeing 747-8 is the newest variant of the jumbo jet. This film shows many aircraft landings and takeoff's filmed between 2012 and 2020. During the current health lock-down pretty much the only aircraft flying overhead are cargo planes and having seen a number of Boeing 747-8's I decided to make a more ambitious 'film-like' aviation video featuring Boeing 747-8 (B747) that I have filmed between 2012 and 2020. With Atlas Air, Air Bridge Cargo, Qatar Amiri Flight, Government of Brunei, Turkish Government, Cargolux, Silkway, Panalpina, UPS and beginning with Global Supply Systems/ British Airways World Cargo.
I trawled through a lot of footage and found what became my opening scene, from a flight over the top of Stansted Airport, with a BA World Cargo 747-8 pushed back, it cuts to the aircraft on the ground, into a small 'arty' title sequence and then scenes of the many liveries of the "Queen of the Skies"
I've tried something a little different, to present the video with brighter, richer colours, increased sharpness and letterbox bars. I've also included some fairly 'artistic' looking shots. Bearing in mind that this is a compilation of footage over many years, I never set out with this editing style in mind, so adding it 'post production' took some time. Anyway, it allowed me to be a bit more creative.
I hope you enjoy the film and thank you for watching and supporting my channel. These are very difficult and challenging times for everyone, not least in the two areas that occupy much of my world, health and aviation. Let us all hope for better times ahead.

Feel blessed to have flown in a 747 transatlantic the last couple of summers. The airline industry will never be the same again. I fear I won't be able to afford another Orlando holiday in the future 😢
Hi David Thomas, thank you for your comments in the live chat earlier, much appreciated. It seems that more and more 747's are being parked up now, what with Virgin and KLM being the most recent. Times change, for good and bad. We have to hold on to the good.

Yes, I miss the BA World Cargo by Global Supply Systems, they used to have 3 aircraft based at Stansted, the 747-400's were G-GSSA,B,C then upgraded to the 747-8, GSSD,E,F. It' great you got to catch one in Chicago whilst they were flying. BA transferred their cargo ops to Qatar airways and Global Supply Systems ceased to be.

Interesting that on the cargo versions, the upstairs hump does not extend down the fuselage like the passenger version. But it is understandable because that upstairs space doesn't carry cargo
