I’ve got the older model with rich lite and the laminate neck that he slams. Love it - especially at $599. All made in Mexico. You have to buy in at the model 16’s for a Martin to be made in the USA. I end up playing my cheaper one more often. Just plain love it.
I had the richlite version of X series as well. Richlite doesn't bother me at all, in fact I think it's easier to clean instead of wood. BUT, the stratabond neck makes the neck kinda heavy, causing the guitar to be neck heavy. Mahogany necks should be lighter. That said, stratabond neck are stable/strong as heck. My guitar stayed in tune for months. It's crazy.
Amazing guitar for a super affordable price. And that makes me think: honestly I don't understand why most American guitar makers built their overseas guitars literally overseas when they could do it in Mexico, like Martin and Taylor, and have their factories 1 or 2 hours drive distance from the USA. For example Fender is taking a huge advantage of their facility in Ensenada, Mexico and how close it is from Corona, California, contrary to all those who have their factories all the way in China or Indonesia.
Coming back to guitar after being away from in for a couple decades, I wanted something better than a complete cheapo, but wasn't ready to drop 1000+ for an instrument just now. I found one of these used, in practically new condition, for $450. I may want to go higher down the line but for now, it's a really comfortable guitar to play, with good volume and depth, and a very satisfying.
This guitar looks and sounds great! I’m loving the updates and thinking of calling in to order one. Question: Do you think the body is likely too large/uncomfortable for an intermediate female who’s 5’6 to play? I’ve always played a Martin 000 and the PRS p20e parlor. But, I’d love for a little more “bass boom”. That nice tight waist makes it look like it’d be fine, but I figure you’d know better based on experience and seeing customers check it out. I play mostly fingerstyle and folksy stuff. Lots of alternating bass and roots blues.
I bought one and no I think it would fit you just fine. But mine flexed for no reason. It was sitting between other guitars that were just fine. But this one won't even ring the strings out when strumming it open. So even though its only 3 months old it needs serious adjustment.
@@watchingthecrazyworld7761 Oh no! That's awful. Wonder if it's covered by manufacturer's warranty? I've never needed to look at Martin's before, but may be worth a shot. I decided against this model and ended up trading my 000X1AE for the 000-12e Koa. Felt more comfortable playing the smaller body. I think the koa and it just being a road series rather than X series gave me that richer sound I was looking for. Hope you get this flexing situation worked out! Bummer.
@@amitasaini310 It is great to hear that you bought a guitar that you are happy with. The manufacturer does not understand the situation. I will take it to a guitar technician for help. Good luck to you.
That sounds splendid! An ideal instrument. I am more into finger style and lead. How is the action? I know, Martins are ruthlessly expensive. Nevertheless, how much would it cost? I am from Calcutta, India. Please advise if you are able to ship. Thanks

I think Asia is still much cheaper than Mexico for labor.
I actually think the Stratabond necks are both beautiful and unique.

Just ordered one 👍🏼👍🏼 left handed!
...Looks big....almost bordering a jumbo size....which is good for me I like both the booming sound and feel of a larger guitar....
I have a DX1RAE and I love it
Would this be a good choice for using as a high strung guitar (Nashville tuning)?
