Hello dear viewers! Two updates/clarifications! 1) Yes, at 1:02 we made a mistake. It should definitely be A350-1000 and not the A350-900. Thanks to everyone who pointed it out! 2) Since this video was produced, Etihad has announced that it will bring back the A380! From Summer 2023, the iconic A380s will make their return with 4x super-jumbos launched for service to London. More information can be found here: simpleflying.com/etihad-announces-the-return-of-airbus-a380/
I flew Etihad in May on a 787-9 from Chicago to Abu Dhabi and again on a Dreamliner to Kochi, India. Then on the return to Abu Dhabi I flew an a321 and another 787-9 Dreamliner back to Chicago. If I had taken my trip even a month later, Etihad would have used the a350-1000 on the Chicago-Abu Dhabi route.
I think my brother flew on one of their A380s when he went to Australia in 2013. I noticed formula one logos on some of the planes. When McLaren tweeted a photo of the plane they were flying home from Abu Dhabi on recently, it was an Ethihad Boeing 787.
You need to update this video already, 4x A380 jets are returning to passenger service from Summer 2023 to service the AUH to LHR route. You welcome 🙏🏻
I’ve been a regular EY flyer since 2012, so I’ve sampled every passenger type they have. It pains me to say since I work on Boeing aircraft that I prefer the A350 over the 787. Two words, window shades. I recently did their daytime AUH-JFK flight. Everyone in the biz cabin had their window shades down. It was dark as a cave for the majority of the flight. Wouldn’t get that in a 787.
Hey, I’m part of the crew. Some crew lock the windows on dark (which I disagree with, u should always let the pax decide).. in that case you can ask the crew to unlock 😊 hope this helps! Otherwise, maximizing pax rest time is the reason on ULR flights they usually dim the cabin. Cheers
I really don't matter for the 787 window, In fact if that happens, I will still be happy and enjoy the Dreamliner. Also, Remember Boeing did for the good porpoise to dimmed the window when is need it, for example sleep. If that happens, if explain how the Crew is( I always sai it, if all depends of the airline)
Etihad Airways Fleet is one of most interesting airline fleets that i've ever read in my internet. While their A380s remains grounded, i am sure they would considered of bringing back their Superjumbos if travel demand suddenly rise up quick than later.
Not because im a member of the star alliance group but personally for me and have in mind i always fly economy. Hands down the best airline to go to the middle east is turkish airlines. Dont mind the stop at Istanbul. Best airline hands down. Turkish airlines
@@qasimasharfi9527 oh really? So that is why there are far more Dreamliners than A350 flying long haul? More operators flying the Dreamliner than A350. Ahhh so you say A350s are more efficient? You make me laugh dude.
@@potxiusupfotalongkorn3237 Bruh,You're hilarious. You know nothing about aviation.Go do some research.More 787 operators doesn't mean anything and doesn't mean that it's better. Also 787 launched in 2009 while A350 in 2014.Before spitting random shit, think again or do some research.Let's talk about the issues that B787 faced:Battery issues, engine issues, paint peeling issues.Boeing can do only bragging rather than fixing it's problems

Wait until you see the new economy of Etihad launching soon. I don't understand the metrics on how people compare Etihad and Emirates economy. EY economy products are way better than EK. For example, Emirates only offer 1 brand of beer wherein Etihad has 2 brands. they have more hard drink choices even as they have scotch, vodka, rum & gin. Emirates doens't have rum....a lot of things.....now Etihad wil start serving champagne and cappuccino in economy.....It's incomparable to my humble opinion
Honestly I don’t like etihads fleet. I feel like the A380 should be returned. Etihad has cut its routes, now there aren’t even any routes to Brisbane anymore… It makes sense they’ve phased out old planes like a340’s but personally I loved the A330’s and A340’s and of course the A380… Which is sad those jets are now either obsolete or phasing out.
retiring the A380-800 fleet & B777-300 ER is a big mistake, inspite of Etihad's dire financial position . . . other aspiring full service carriers could acquire the 13 ex-Etihad A380-800 & 11 B777-300 ER airframes . . . acquiring the B777-200 LR could be beneficial for any full service carrier because it has the range & capability to operate on ultra long haul routes . . . for e.g. Mumbai (BOM) - Sao Paulo (GRU) or Delhi (DEL) - Sydney (SYD) non-stop . . . the only other wide body jet that can match it's range is the A350-900 ULR & A340-500 HGW (back during it's heydays) . . . Boeing's B777-8 & B777-9 could seriously do without the folding wing tips . . .
Well! Delhi-Sydney route doesn't need a 777-200LR. Air India is doing with 787-8 already. Delhi-Dallas / Delhi-Houston would be the possible potential routes which require the LR or ULR aircraft. Air India may consider taking the ex-Etihad planes just like they've been getting the ex-Delta 777-200LR aircraft to increase capacity on the routes to North America.
@@hjr0021 Dallas is highly unlikely. They don't have a connecting partner there that would be required to support that route. Even IAH is unlikely since the partnership with UA isn't very strong. I wouldn't fly Etihad again for now. Its Dreamliner is very uncomfortable in economy, food onflight is deplorable and the transit at AUH is harrendous; super packed, no place to sit and chaotic flight operations. The a380 is coming back in May for etihad and there are only 10 grounded aircrafts as of this moment, glad to see etihad gradually recovering.
