@@Darkuni do you know of anyway to get them to work? I’ve seen a few videos about adding batteries but all the ones I’ve seen have different pcb layouts
@@wesmagyar there are some bootleg save extractors/injectors around on the project pokemon forum. i have had only a couple of times succes with putting the edited rom back on the cartridge, not sure why :/
Why wouldn’t they just sell the 8MB version so you can write any game you want all the time? The 2MB and 4MB seems kind of a waste as you won’t have full access to the entire library of Gameboy games to write with. Do they even sell an 8MB flash cart or is it impossible to make and that’s why they have these 2-4MB carts?
So I copied my fire red version and I tried to boot it in the virtual boy, and the game boots into a white screen… any experience with that sort of thing?
Would you be able to take a game save from raspberry pi and put it onto a cartridge? I play Pokemon with my raspberry pi and would love to put the save on a cart.
I bought a GB operator and it does not effectively detect counterfeit cartridges idt. I have a 100% fake copy of sapphire that literally won’t even boot past the main screen, and it confirms it as genuine. An actual shame considering this was a massive selling point for a collector.
Hmmm... You're talking about battery-backed up saves on the cart? That kind of save? I've really only used the carts I bought to do these videos. I'm not 100% sure how long those work/last. Perhaps a battery replacement is needed?
For some reason, one of my viewers posted and it isn't showing up. Here is a copy. I tried it and it did work. The image itself causes an "integrity check" failure, but the game still runs. JWG . LLC I made a Demake of friday the 13th the game. It plays on any gameboy or gameboy color emulator. It also runs on real hardware in an everdrive of burned cart. 2021 archive.org/details/friday-the-13th-the-gameboy-game
I don't THINK so. There are certainly no provisions for it in the software. However, nothing is stopping you from dumping the game/saves and opening them up in a pair of emulators that can communicate with each other (does such a thing exist?) and then re-up the saves back to the carts. A lot of work though ...
Wow, you should report this to the Epilogue people. To my knowledge, the polling of data from the cart to make that determination is non-destructive and is "read only". They would want to know about this.
An official cart isn't "reflashable". So when you buy a "flash cart" it is "false". You can write SAVE data to an official cart though - if it is volatile RAM.
got a bootleg cart on aliexpress. It does not operate with GB operator, hopefully software update will add it to their list. ps, do you know where to check their list of compatible gb carts?
I have a question as I don't have legit cartridges... Can legit cartridges be re-written? E.g. Add Danny-E33's overworld and sprite update to Pokemon Red and Blue (to match with Gold and Silver)...
Exactly the video I needed, thank you for all the information presented here!
Thank you so much! I'm glad this helped you out!
my issue is i accidentially bought a few Repro carts thinking they were legit. and the Operator wont read the Save Games from them :(
That sucks...

I'm guessing it is price prohibitive ... I dunno. How many 8mb games are there? Maybe it is more of a demand thing? Dunno.
@@Darkuni I think the only 8mb game is Densha De Go 2
Plot twist - the GB Operator itself is bootlegged.
Disclaimer: Joking! Just got one of these myself.

That's pretty cool! I wouldn't mind having one.
i have a unofficial cartridge...but everytime i try to flash a game on it with GB Operator it fails. its a Pokemon yellow repro cartridge
Yeah, it doesn't work with EVERY rewriteable cartridge. I had to order one from the UK to make sure I abided by the recommended list.

That is very sad to hear. Did you report it to the team? Perhaps they need to add additional checks ...
can this do GBA ? would be better than buying 4 of each game for 4 player link cable games
I don't THINK so. But I do not know what GBA re-writeable carts are supported (if any). If you end up trying it out, get back to us!
Hey every game I flash onto any repo cart won't save anymore, even when I put the original games back on, do you have any solution for this?

You can…. Ive done it with a different program tho. Not GB operator.
Can you try an ezflash omega?
Only Flash memory based carts will work - not "SD card" based cards.
If you got a fan game and it was on a cartridge would it work on the gb operator ??
I have no reason to believe it wouldn't.

All legit carts I've put in there are shown as "read only". So I assume the answer is no..
