Just wanted to say, Seth, this is the best MtG channel on youtube. Everybody else has devolved into political bait-y bullshit and you just wanna play magic and have a good time and I appreciate the hell out of you for that.
I watch this channel as my main, TCC and Mana Source just under it. Seth is just so good at being a content creator, and his energy is infectious! Definitely one of the best channels on UA-cam in general. I feel like he could get people to watch who don't even /play/ magic.
35:15 - Grafdigger's Cage does not prevent you from doing Saheeli/Sun Titan loops, since it only prevents spells being cast or creatures entering from the graveyard or library, and as you're not *casting* Saheeli from your graveyard/library and she's not a creature the loop is valid.
I think you found the balance for against the odds with this one. The deck doesn't really qualify as a true powerhouse, but it worked as intended consistently enough to be enjoyable to watch. This is my favorite Against the Odds in a long while.
At 7:13 you correctly say that you can do some serious dmgs with Ghost Quarter bu then you did nothing and risked to lose to an untapped land, why? You didn't need the other land you got back from the GY.
Yeah i also would have gqed the shit out of way more opponents with this deck, there are other points where he can do this as well and neglects to. I am starting to think its intentional, the love hate relation we have for his content is addictive :)
I was thinking the same thing but he also said "I wonder how many basics they play in this deck. Maybe two?", so maybe he didn't want to use 3 triggers before actually having an effect on the opponent's mana.
On that game against ad-nauseum, why didnt you just ghost quarter their entire land base? I think it would've locked them out of the game 2 turns earlier.
yeah, seth never goes for the ghost quarter plan. Look at it like this, he does this to entertain people, winning by killing all their lands is not that entertaining. (well, except to certain people) Also, he could have probably done the same to U tron, could have killed their lands, 3 a turn til they had no more basics to fetch, they don't run that many to begin with iirc.
I played value Saheeli in a UR standard burn deck for a bit. Copying a stormchaser mage or thermo-alchemist then playing two burn spells was pretty powerful
This deck might have been sweet(er?) with a Sundial. Keep the token Saheeli tokens. Keep stuff exiled by flickerwisp exiled forever. If you sun titan back a hussar, then you can put the sac trigger on the bottom and end the turn before you have to sac it. Of course if the sun titan was attacking, then you don't hit with the titan and you don't have an Anticipate engine.
I heard that people remember bad things easier than good things. This could explain why your opponents always blind flip a delver. They don't, but you only remember the times that they do.
I'm aware of confirmation bias and I meant what I said. I don't remember how reliable the source of where I heard I was talking about was though, let alone specifically where I heard it. Confirmation bias doesn't explain where the initial belief that the delver always flips for his opponents comes from (although it does offer an explanation for why that belief persists after it is acquired) But I think what I was talking about makes sense from an evolutionary perspective. Something that hurt you is probably a lot more important than something that didn't.
hey seth, I really loved your "GP approach" to the deck building. It is really funny to see the weird interactions work, but once the deck is too much below the average power level of the format, the fun drops for me, as it simply does not seem to work out. I'd really apreciate if you kept doing this. Thanks for all the content, btw. You're awesome
I played this deck after saheeli was released but I ran oath of Jace to discard saheeli and also to dig for answers. Flickerwisps + oath of Jace is also really solid value.
Andy Walser Frankly, that's a terrible idea. There's no realistic chance that he'd find others playing with frontier decks when playing freeform unless he got someone else from MTGGoldfish, which wouldn't lead to true games of Frontier. Until it gets added to MTGO, it's just too difficult to play.
Is there a reason why you didn't ghost quarter multiple times vs ad nasuem g1? Seems better than getting back fetches on that last turn, and would make it almost impossible for them to win.
16:22 Why didn't he get the Saheeli? It seems like if you can get Saheeli with Sun Titan, you always do. You can then copy Sun Titan and get back whatever else you would have wanted.
Huh...I might just already own (almost) all cards in this deck incidentally (at least I'm pretty sure I have the expensive ones, minus PTE). I don't have a modern deck yet and this looks sweet.
If it makes you feel any better about losing to three Bolts, I beat my brother once with five: four normally and one with Eternal Witness. Gotta love the Bolt
Points out that ghost quarter is good against ad nauseam, yet doesn't ghost quarter them to death with all those sun Titan copies. Could have easily lost the game to a spirit guide
I would have played Crucible of Worlds and Felidar Guardian Crucible for the Ghost Quarter Lock and Felidar for another infinete combo i would also try some number of Thought Scour that way it is gives the deck a shot of milling some of Saheeli Rai`s And if that happens that makes the Sun Titan combo more consistent
Don't really play modern, but I loved this deck! Question. Do you need the Emeria part of it? What would the deck be like if you cut that, changed up the mana base (making it cheaper if possible) and focusing more on the etb synergies. Just wondering. Great video!
This set had reverse problem of the leagues. Missing all of the turn 3(ish) decks and ran into some tier 2 and 3. I guess it's more representative of what people play against (FNM) then what you test for GP, PPTQ or PT
Stupid question, but when you faced the ad nauseam deck, you flickered the phyrexian unlife... why didn't the opponent lose right there? He was sitting at -8 life.
Hey Saffron, what about hiding your matchup until Game 1 is done? I am peeking at the top right corner of the vid every Game 1...love your channel though.
You are probably correct. On another note, you played a version of Emeria with a clue subtheme and I was wondering what you think of running that version with some Shape Anew for Blightsteel so that Saheeli's ult isn't useless.
If you ever want to beat mill, Elixir of Immortality is a good start. I would depend on your meta though. I won't change anything, mostly likely, because it's very rare I actually play against mill.
Against Ur Delver, why wouldn't you sun Titan back saheeli?!?! It's the first target every time with this deck bc you just tick down on sun Titan for a hasty one get back 2 more targets!!
MTGGoldfish grafdiggers doesn't stop saheeli from creating a token either since it's not entering from the graveyard or being cast. Saheelis ability creates a copy, doesn't actually cause the creature in the yard to enter the battlefield. 😆
What decks ARE a good matchup against mill? Dredge? Really it seems like such a frustrating deck. On a side note, I want to build mill and slip in labratory maniac, mill yourself and the opponent will have no clue what the hell's going on till it's too late.
Big Bear Any kind of aggro deck or faster combo deck is usually good. Mill isn't particularly quick and you have to play a bunch of cards that don't affect the board until you win.
Big Bear quick decks try to rush mill, dredge might do well against mill if the mill player doesn't remove your wincons. Control can counter the important mill spells and burn can just blaze through mill's slow game. The trick, as a mill player, is to play the control game against decks susceptible to control and playing turbo mill against decks that become stronger in the late game.
*"the nice thing about our deck is most of our cards feel so bad people don't want to counter them."* 12:25
this is my kind of deck.
Obviously the only deck you want to play!
Apart from Sun Titan though
Just wanted to say, Seth, this is the best MtG channel on youtube. Everybody else has devolved into political bait-y bullshit and you just wanna play magic and have a good time and I appreciate the hell out of you for that.
totally agree man, just 100% good content with fun magic decks and a good commentator, we are lucky to have him!
I watch this channel as my main, TCC and Mana Source just under it.
Seth is just so good at being a content creator, and his energy is infectious!
Definitely one of the best channels on UA-cam in general. I feel like he could get people to watch who don't even /play/ magic.
You're welcome :)
MTGGoldfish i
Armazillo jolt359 is a good channel and so is Frank lepore
35:15 - Grafdigger's Cage does not prevent you from doing Saheeli/Sun Titan loops, since it only prevents spells being cast or creatures entering from the graveyard or library, and as you're not *casting* Saheeli from your graveyard/library and she's not a creature the loop is valid.
Oh, sweet info!
0:23 that moment of realization was the funniest sound I've ever heard
"Blind Delver flip? Oh yeah!"
As a Grixis Delver player, I can confirm we never miss the blind flip. :P
They should have just printed it as a 3/2 flier :)
at 00:16 that "whoooo is mill...". was priceless
thx for playing a deck that actually had a chance of winning! it was fun!
I think you found the balance for against the odds with this one. The deck doesn't really qualify as a true powerhouse, but it worked as intended consistently enough to be enjoyable to watch. This is my favorite Against the Odds in a long while.
Ian Lide I watched niv-infinite before this... I can only say "damn"
Funny how the much abrew deck feels more like the against the odds deck and vice versa.
Wow, you got really unlucky with those Delver flips. Whenever I see someone else playing against Delver, they never get the flip, lol.
35:30
The cage only stops creatures from comming in from the graveyard. Other permanent types are fine, you can still get Saheeli Rai with the titan.
came here to say this lol
Against the Odds: Delver Flips
This is the new modern meta
Play shitty cards so people feel bad about countering them. Perfect against control decks
It's new age Splinter Twin! :D
The first mill deck you played against looks sweet!
I love your ridiculous deck names, Seth!
really enjoyed this one. much more compared to the last ones.
Good job Seth and awesome deck!
Sweet against the odds, love to see you stream this because the deck seems sweet
At 7:13 you correctly say that you can do some serious dmgs with Ghost Quarter bu then you did nothing and risked to lose to an untapped land, why? You didn't need the other land you got back from the GY.
Zumbo "We can do some serious damage with Ghost quarter" *only uses it to tap for mana* Seth why do you do this to us
hobitfromhell yeah I would have taken the chance and tried to ghost quarter my oponent 4 times
Like just because of that sound at 00:16. That made me laugh so much. Thank you, Seth.
On that game against ad-nauseum, why didnt you just ghost quarter their entire land base? I think it would've locked them out of the game 2 turns earlier.
blahblah14 I was thinking the exact same thing.
yeah, seth never goes for the ghost quarter plan. Look at it like this, he does this to entertain people, winning by killing all their lands is not that entertaining. Sounds nice in theory, but the decklist Seth has seems pretty tight.
I said sweeter, not more viable.
Thought it was a legit suggestion for him to play, sorry.
I heard that people remember bad things easier than good things. This could explain why your opponents always blind flip a delver. They don't, but you only remember the times that they do.

This is in my opinion, the best against the odds in a while. The competitive jank is real!
When will you guys do an Exploring the Frontier show? Also, Against the Odds is the best!
Nice to meet a fellow Frontier fan!
Andy Walser He won't play it unless it's a format on MTGO.
Emrakul, The Aeons Bored he can play it on MTGO, under the Freeform format.
Would love to see an against the odds to which you win with myth realized. Maybe a jeskai control shell?
Is there a reason why you didn't ghost quarter multiple times vs ad nasuem g1? Seems better than getting back fetches on that last turn, and would make it almost impossible for them to win.
Seth is BEST!
love the reaction at 0:17
This deck in a Jeskai control shell with Saheeli and suntitan as the win con would be nuts!
16:22 Why didn't he get the Saheeli? It seems like if you can get Saheeli with Sun Titan, you always do. You can then copy Sun Titan and get back whatever else you would have wanted.
Yeah, it seems to me that getting Saheeli is strictly better option. I don't understand why he didn't do it.
What if we added Nahiri and Emrakul?
game 2 against u tron was a pleasure to watch!
Huh...I might just already own (almost) all cards in this deck incidentally (at least I'm pretty sure I have the expensive ones, minus PTE). I don't have a modern deck yet and this looks sweet.
I really want to see Seth play a worship deck again.
If it makes you feel any better about losing to three Bolts, I beat my brother once with five: four normally and one with Eternal Witness. Gotta love the Bolt
Would leave to see Joshplouffe's mono U tron list, that really was spicy as hell.
Points out that ghost quarter is good against ad nauseam, yet doesn't ghost quarter them to death with all those sun Titan copies. Could have easily lost the game to a spirit guide
I wasn't sure how many basics the opponent had in the game.
Man, Seth you missed the chance to call it Sunheelia!! 😅
32:15 - The strangest dismember I've ever seen...
I would have played Crucible of Worlds and Felidar Guardian
Crucible for the Ghost Quarter Lock and Felidar for another infinete combo i would also try some number of Thought Scour that way it is gives the deck a shot of milling some of Saheeli Rai`s And if that happens that makes the Sun Titan combo more consistent
also am curious as to the possibility of a red token against the odds deck built around purphoros or impact tremors
Don't really play modern, but I loved this deck! Question. Do you need the Emeria part of it? What would the deck be like if you cut that, changed up the mana base (making it cheaper if possible) and focusing more on the etb synergies. Just wondering. Great video!
I like the inevitability that Emeria brings, but the deck would work without it, I think.
That was awesome! Thank you.
I liek the name Sunheeli
This set had reverse problem of the leagues. Missing all of the turn 3(ish) decks and ran into some tier 2 and 3. I guess it's more representative of what people play against (FNM) then what you test for GP, PPTQ or PT
I would like to see 2 inferno titans in the board or the Main. With saheeli it just feels dirty
cast inferno, deal 3, copy it, deal another 3, deal another 3 on attack. if they don't block that's a total of 15 damage
Kurogetsu1 yea something in those lines :)
I actually want to play this deck.
Suggested video and early Christmas present, Rough drafts: holiday cube. Pleeeeease
Oh Saheeli please don't spike after this :P
Wait, did you finally win a match against Ad Nauseum? We need an instant deck tech on it now.
Should I play this over a W/U Emeria list?
Love the deck!!
Why didmt the opponent immediatly die when phyrexian unlife was blinked in game 2? He was at -8 right?
best against the odds in a while!! :)
wrong
Really feel like this deck should play Sundial of the Infinite for some flickerwisp exile and permanent token copy shenanigans
are you gonna do some frontier gameplay
"play flickerwisp, get a plains"😂😂😂
Should I add this to my emeria deck, if so how many?
Hoesntly this deck doesn't seem very bad, maybe that's just because I don't play modern but I do play highlander so this is interesting
You should try leyline instead of worship so at least you cover burn, ad nauseum, mill and storm. Making it hard for all those decks.
ODDnanref He still covers all of those but mill, perhaps better than Leyline.
Why aren't the cycle of lands from zendikar, like emeria and valakut, legendary? It makes no sense.
I'm so confused everytime you play Tron. Seems like its a different variant everytime.
What about Venser AND Saheeli ?
I want infinite sun titans to be a thing in modern now.
I don't know why but I lost it at "ye olde two for one"
So many friggin Delvers!! I can barely draw mine. wtf.
Stupid question, but when you faced the ad nauseam deck, you flickered the phyrexian unlife... why didn't the opponent lose right there? He was sitting at -8 life.
I think they had resolved an Angel's Grace so they couldn't die that turn?
MTGGoldfish Oh, that's makes sense, I figured I missed something. Thanks!
how do edit out the dead time in your videos? manually? do you speed up your voice?
Hey Saffron, what about hiding your matchup until Game 1 is done? I am peeking at the top right corner of the vid every Game 1...love your channel though.
What's with the a being added to saheeli for the deck name?
He mixed the names "Saheeli" and "Emeria" from the land card Emeria the Sky Ruin
one-of mistveil plains to hedge against mill? Doesn't even seem bad on its own to get key cards back and reshuffle with a fetch.
It could be helpful, but I don't know if mill is really a huge concern, just not that common of a matchup.
You are probably correct. On another note, you played a version of Emeria with a clue subtheme and I was wondering what you think of running that version with some Shape Anew for Blightsteel so that Saheeli's ult isn't useless.
so what you u add the the board for mill?
If you ever want to beat mill, Elixir of Immortality is a good start. I would depend on your meta though. I won't change anything, mostly likely, because it's very rare I actually play against mill.
Famous las words Seth....
RIP Mortal combat 6 weeks in second position T_T
Perpetural Timepiece is great verse mill!
Living the dream! :)
I guess I stand corrected? it was cool.
Against Ur Delver, why wouldn't you sun Titan back saheeli?!?! It's the first target every time with this deck bc you just tick down on sun Titan for a hasty one get back 2 more targets!!
Seth, you need to stop the random clicking. Swapping your cards has gotten you in to trouble so many times.
How did you even start this bad habit?
I don't even remember. But yes, I do need to stop.
MTGGoldfish Haha, it's so crazy. I've never seen it before. To be fair it's caused some interesting moments, at least.
MTGGoldfish grafdiggers doesn't stop saheeli from creating a token either since it's not entering from the graveyard or being cast. Saheelis ability creates a copy, doesn't actually cause the creature in the yard to enter the battlefield. 😆
It's like flicking cards but in MTGO
O. Sanchez Well yes, but that doesn't explain how it started. Flicking cards IRl feels natural. How you get to that online is a bit weird to me. Lawl
Call it Jeskai Rai
Jesrai
JeSkaheeli Rai?
I have to ask: Do you think Saheelia could go into a Kiki-Chord deck? I am not sure, but she could be funn if there was enough good to copy.
What decks ARE a good matchup against mill? Dredge? Really it seems like such a frustrating deck. On a side note, I want to build mill and slip in labratory maniac, mill yourself and the opponent will have no clue what the hell's going on till it's too late.

Infect is a nigthmare vs Mill. Any Fast Aggro or Combo deck (50-50). Any deck whith Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
At the very least, every deck has a 50-50 matchup against itself by virtue of them being the same deck and how probability works
This deck was just another reason for Saffron to play emeria, not for an infinite combo. Just admit it seth
30:10 WOOOOW what a turd :D :D
All the blind Delver flips... :/
Mill is actually really good, the one seth play recently is just so bad
Saheely Rye.... Seth plz no
that Utron list was so terrible
scy sucks often i end up drawing the card i put in the botom
"against the odds"
Who the fuck is Saheelia?
ye olde 2 for 1 lmao
Some good examples of why modern is degenerate and belongs on the fringe with Legacy and Vintage
Leonidas Spartan What? This deck is really slow and wins with 1/3s and Saheeli pings.
Modern is such a garbage format
3st
0:17 that moment of realization was the funniest sound I've ever heard
Just keep clicking that time over and over, hear his O sound lmao
