I think he has always been criminally underrated (sadly). Not only as a guitar player but as a songwriter too. His parts are always interesting and unique. He never plays 'rock guitar clichés' and his chord progressions are almost always beautiful and memorable. God bless him (and I'm not even a believer).
Who/What/How could ANYBODY dislike this? What were they looking for- a how to guide for summer activities by some camp counselor named Andy? My G_d, man, this was one of the most amazing "how-to" lessons I've ever seen, let alone the Master himself taking the time to share his passion with the rest of us!(And done in the true style of teaching, not merely demonstrating/performing as some others have done, but carefully going over each chord and riff ) Bravo, Andy, and thank you!
Brilliant insight to Andy's fascinating approach to music. These 5 videos are now my go-to reference for learning Andy's guitar style, and discovering my own style too. He is a true innovator, and largely responsible for The Police's sound as most people recognise it. He's one of the all-time greats, never trying to show off, just understated musical eloquence and pure class. Thanks for uploading 💓🎸✌
Very informative ....and very melodic. Andy is not a shredder trying to impress and out flash other players.... it is about the song he is playing to and adding to it. It is sublime playing and probably much harder to get right than some shredding songs. Like Stewart said about Every Breath You Take ...it is a simple sounding yet more complex than you think. Andy's guitar playing on that is so ethereal.....I think that is a good word for his playing.
Andy a real talented guy, I’ve always admired him for being so different with his guitar playing.. it ended up being “his” style... Sadly I’ve noticed in this series of videos... he’s not happy.. not happy at all ?

"Message in a Bottle" is my favorite Police tune, and this was a great tutorial of the piece. I loved it!
Great to see and hear a guitarist sharing his ideas and techniques. Nothing shrouded in mystery here! Enjoyed all 5 parts(videos).

Fantastic video!!! Learning from the master himself, how cool!!
This is what happens when you learn from someone else on YT...you play it wrong! Hahahah, Thanks Andy now i have to learn it again the right way.
Been a fan since the early 80s, still learning the guitar 40 years on
He was to The Police what JPJ was to Led Zep or Tony Banks to Genesis - that quiet guy in the engine room :)
Tony Banks wasn't quiet. Steve Hackett couldn't get a word in edgewise
@@kenfreiberg6302 🤣
That was insane ! Love it.
It sucks we don't have good quality videos like this would be awesome for more lessons in good quality
Absolute master
Great!
Message in a bottle is a mighty stretch for the fingers
Awesome
The reunion, of course, did happen. It was a smash hit in every sense. And Andy probably took home about $40-50 million for the 15 month tour.
Rhcp ripped of the last chord slide for californication.
You have to appreciate learning from the source and not somebody's take on it.. ty Andy!!
Wonder if Dominic Miller ever checks out this video
nice
This is why very few can cover the police
He put some reggae elements in his songs.
I saw the reunion. What year was this ?
At a guess maybe 2003 or 2004?
All other UA-cam tutorials of these songs just became invalid and obsolete.
True bro
I gave up guitar because I couldn’t stretch for message in a bottle
