This saved me BIG time yesterday! I've been getting put into side mount and crushed to the point that my chest hurts for days after. Getting that knee up allowed me to escape from a side mount from a very heavy partner of mine. I didn't get the arm bar but I didn't get crushed either. 4 weeks into training. That's a win in my opinion lol! Thanks coach Tom!
Had a long sick break and am now super worried that I forgot everything, since I am a beginner anyway. Set myself three goals today - the mount escape from your videos (already tried this before I was sick and liked it a lot), side control escape from your videos, and this one because I usually never know how to start. Usually I fail at the beginning and end in side control or mount... let's see how it goes today.
Great (as usual!)!!! I'd really love to see the standing version too. I'm really not a big fan of kneeling starts and yes that's the most common start unluckly, so this is really really a nice tool to add in the arsenal for sure!
Great stuff Giacinto! I also have a video of the standing version but is more or less IDENTICAL to this except you start the osotogari from the feet. My guys hit it in comps all the time. Have fun trying this one! Happy rolling (-: Coach Tom
I’m such a newbie. I actually get this takedown a lot, but i never thought of adding the arm bar to it. This video is like a revelation, lol! Thanks again Coach Tom.
I tried this against a black belt (horrible idea I know) he got me right into side control, I realized after it’s very important to make sure your inside knee stays up to post so u have some distance to get your other leg over the head
I am mainly a striker mma fighter, have always had trouble with grappling and your videos have been really helpful in many ways, thank you again coach Tom. Very nice breakdown and explanation.
I roll with a lot of guys that are larger than I and typically start seated with their legs out in front...I'm going to give this a shot. If I can get my foot to the outside of the hip, should at least make it harder to triangle me!
Where I roll, the higher-level purple and brown belts start by sitting on their butts while I'm on my knees. Needless to say, I "walk" directly into their guard each time. (I'm going to get tapped anyway, but I'd like to avoid being at such a disadvantage from jump street!) Could you do a video on how to deal with someone who's pulling guard like that whilst you're starting on your knees? Thanks, Professor!
Well I don't know why but when I watch this guy I quickly get motivated and really want to roll asap. Thank You!!!

what if he do a armbar right after you take him down by swing his leg up
Subscribed. I just don't like the going on my back part hahah! Rule 1 always be on top 2 of you are on bottom have a guard ye shall not pass
YEs definitely use your wizard guard when working from the bottom (-: Coach Tom Davey
Awesome, but I expected to see it on your feet too. Do you do a flying armbar? Do you armbar after you land?
+Alvaro Wang will also do from feet in separate video! Coach Tom
