When I first saw the photos of Daniel Radcliffe not long after they were published, I was shocked, amazed, impressed, and my admiration of him shot thru the roof. For him to do that, to decide that he even had to do that, was totally awe-inspiring to me. It even taught me a little about myself and my own fears and inhibitions. Mister Radcliffe, I thank you. I thank also Harry Borden the photographer who put this video here, and the way he expressed himself about the experience. It has been enriching and even empowering to me to hear your insights.

I had heard of Daniel’s Equus portrayal. One Saturday at the pool tournament I ran for years in Denver, a player had a TINY flip phone with a barely 1 inch square screen with something that caught my eye. Looking closer I realized it was the picture of Daniel and the horse. Stunningly beautiful picture of an equally stunning young man, once I sent it to my phone where you could actually see it.

I like the fact that you compared his eyes to those of Elijah Woods, who has the most beautifully-intense blue eyes I've ever seen.
Equus was the smartest thing he ever did to ensure sustainability. It didn't hurt that he is also quite beautiful physically.

An extremely interesting video! I appreciate the sensitivity you had when working with Daniel. It sounds like you took great care to help Daniel feel comfortable and relaxed during the photo shoot. The end results showed your kind efforts paid off. Daniel looked like he was confident, focused, and took on the persona of the character in Equus. He was far from Harry Potter. While Daniel will always be recognized for Harry Potter (which is a huge indication that he is a great actor), through this Equus photo shoot, his appearances in other films and stagework, he will be remembered as Harry Potter being just one chapter in his career amongst several other chapters.

Yes, Daniel is a very handsome young man, but more than that he is an extremely talented actor. I'm so happy to hear that you helped him break out of the Harry Potter mold and be able to pursue other acting avenues. I hope we see him doing many more varied projects in the future.
I was lucky enough to see him in Equus. Normally when I know the ending it dulls it a little, but this version left me speechless.

I agree with you totally on the shirt coming off photos. They tell a story and are just more pleasing to the eye (in my opinion). Did you ever get Daniel's opinion since his PR person didn't like them?
Maybe I didn't manage to clearly tell the story as this was an early video of ours. But interestingly, it was the PR/Daniel's idea to go shirtless as it was good marketing for the theatre play daniel was starring in and to move away from the Harry Potter franchise.
The PR liked the pictures of Daniel completely topless, but did not like the photos of him taking the clothes off. I wonder why?
I know that the PR didn't like the pictures of him taking the shirt off but my question was what his thoughts of them were. Was he in agreement with you and just followed PR or did he agree with them?

I saw Daniel in “Equus”, and the Equus publicity photos are probably the best photos ever taken of him. He was already astonishingly handsome and beautiful with impressively masculine stubble even though he was only 17.

I agree completely. Easily able to take those photos and create poetry, short stories, even music. Just stunning, especially the elevator pix, could see those being Daniel and his changeling self or doppelganger. Way cool.
Pulling his shirt open was easily the best shot. How embarrassing to be a publicist who thinks they know better than the skilled artist.
Daniel needs to play a villain. I will be really good at it.

The mirrored elevator is perfect for showing the separation after the emergence. The child actor in the reflection, the young man in the present, moving on to the next level.
I remember some people very upset when they heard he appeared nude in Equis. Many could only think of him as little Harry Potter rather than the young man he was by then.
It was evident from the first film that Daniel was a talent to watch with a beauty that would mature into an attractive adult. His eyes were the first feature I noticed and your photos capture their beauty wonderfully. As a man of small stature attracted to men of small stature I find the beautiful Mr. Radcliffe very, very attractive.

Daniel will always be Harry Potter. But its up to him to be more than just potter. Child actors have a hard time breaking out of that "zone". Many dont grow up into roles that are memorable. Many forgot christian bale was a child actor. Daniel has the talent to define who he is.

I am thankful for the perspective offered in this video. It really helps me to *perhaps* be a bit less prudish and judgmental about the ever-increasing reliance on full frontal nudity and/or simulated(?) physical intimacy in today’s “mainstream” (e.g. not *intentionally* pornographic) entertainments-so *much* so that “intimacy coaches” have become a thing.
I myself have qualms about the practice of “requiring” actors to not only merely be nude in public places (or on film) but to occasionally actually *engage in*-rather than merely *pretend* to engage in-intimate acts with colleagues or strangers for the amusement and entertainment of the general public who may (or may not) be pretending a level of sophistication that completely refutes a prurient interest at witnessing other people being naked on film and onstage in pursuit of art-or, perhaps, artistic integrity.
I wonder how many of these viewers would be pleased, excited, and *thrilled* to see *their* parents or *their* young-adult children in similar situations. Even so, this video has really helped me.

How interesting that you started with his eyes and eyebrows; with that special camera lens; because eyes are the windows to the soul. Most great actors do their "acting with their eyes. And then, him slowly moving out of his shirt for the more vulnerable/exposed shots required for EQUIS. It really is like a butterfly emerging. And the subsequent photos with him in the lift are also stunning.

You did a fantastic shoot. Iconic imagery in the posters, full pages, etc. If Daniel one day chooses to allow the nudes to feature in a biography or portfolio of his work, he would find many fond, well-wishing fans of his work and good looks ready to buy them.
He had nothing to loose, the Harry Potter trilogy was completed. His future is now secure.

Thank you for your photos of Daniel. I agree it was crucially important for you to photograph him with big visible eyes to divorce him from the Harry Potter spectacles, and fully nude which is an essential aspect of that role. I saw him in Equus and it was great and then I saw him in The Lifespan of a Fact and that was even more amazing, and next I hope to see him in Merrily We Roll along soon. Best thing he could've done with his career was break out of that "child star" typecasting box and be a respected stage actor!
i find he took the wright direction and i support him in that choice at that moment. Otherwise you are stuck in on and only character
I'll probably sound weird but I found Mr. Borden far more compelling an image than young Mr. Radcliffe.

I saw him in Equus, he was superb although some silly girls came just to see him naked. I think your photographs of him are stunning as is your explanation of the experience, which is so graphic even 17 years later! Quite unbelievable.
Daniel is a handsome young man. Although I still see him as Harry Potter, I hope he will have a nice career in other roles. The shots are very good.

Im surprised as the photographer he doesn’t have a setup and go through to a conclusion, And then discuss that with the subject so everyone knows what’s going to be happening. And the subject can work it out in his own mind as to how to transition from scene to scene . And have it all organized, and the photographer can Snap away.
That’s how would need to do it, because I’m not a fan of surprises. Surprises rarely go well.
It makes sense that he would not want to be typecast as a constant Harry Potter figure for the rest of his life.

So let me get this straight. We saw thousands of screaming excited girls over Harry Potter, over the years, who would've done anything to get alone with him. And then, just like that, just one man gets to be alone with him, Taking nude pictures of him? It's an odd world we live in!

You got great photos of Dan. One of my nephews is a dead ringer for Dan but he is a towhead. It’s uncanny how alike they are. Whenever I see a picture of adult Dan It weirds me out because I see my nephew with dark brown hair. They even have the same color eyes. And the cheek dimples.
Is there a coffee table book of the photos? There should be.
To be honest, I consider Daniel's best performance to be Ig Parish in HORNS. Granted, the only other non HP roles I've seen him in were THE WOMAN IN BLACK, and KILL YOUR DARLINGS. There are quite a few of his other roles I need to see, top of my list being GUNS AKIMBO. And, I think he would be perfect as the next Wolverine.

Honestly gross,that’s the one thing I hate about being a guy,your expected to look like a Sasquatch,I keep myself clean of all that crap,plus it definitely helps me with odor control,because before I started shaving the hair,especially on my crotch and pits,I would stink up the whole house,even with deodorant.

I certainly am allergic (jealous, probably also),
when images are used
(yes, merely used,
even before liked),
just BECAUSE of the concept, and prétentions that greatness is in the execution of it. Probably it exasperates me because then it's not getting to see what an artist saw, but what a concept did. Concepts then are like "ways to sell".
However, preconceived ideas can be necessary motors, energies, beforehand, projections, when one is afraid of not having inspiration on demand.
Mentalising a new place in order for our brain to not rebuke.
When a plan is unable to give way to the priority of the present "accidents", unplannable opportunities, then it is in the way of the role of the artist : to merely be, through his way, a channel to look aknew. That's what 'hits' me home when he said

That his dieties wouldn't observe his 'sins/"-- he suffered a nervous breakdown: hence, he took a spike, a "Horse- hoof" cleaning awl, and punctured the beautiful eyes of his esteemed horses. Thank you for sharing ! I was never into Harry Potter, just wasn’t my thing, but he was/is a very cute young man. ( have no idea how old he is now lol 😂). I am a nudist and always loved being naked. I would have loved being photographed in the nude by you, but I’m pretty sure you are “high dollar “ and only work with celebrities and such. Anyway, thanks again for sharing 😊.
