Great video! This made me realize I missed a rule that when drawing villain cards, you have the choice to scheme or take inflict damage. For some reason I missed that and was always scheming - no wonder it’s been so rough!
I'm playing Volume XVIII today, I was surprised by how fast it is. In my first two games in the Bank and Dock maps I was able to keep the villain in the first or second panel basically the entire game, but at the end of the first round in this one they had already advanced, it's super tense. I've been enjoying the game so far, really excited to see a playthrough on the channel too. Hoping they do something more with it in the future, I'd love more expansions, especially a second Redemption box. I really want to see a playable Tarotist
When I started the video I was keen on seing how you manage to take curtains down because when we played against him we were really struggling because of his two shields and we were only able to roll two dice most of the time but you simply knocked him out with 3 attacks... that was very lucky indead. Usually the showdown against curtain drags on way longer especially since he regularly puts focus on his card that also reduce incoming damage by two just as with the justice tokens on his scheming side.
@@OneStopCoopShop that was exactly our problem we didn't have any options to get our hands on some extra dice from clue cards. there were no bystanders on the map and we were drawing 2 rounds worth of villain cards that would not place any bystanders on the map. But this just shows how dynamic the boss fights can be and i really like that because it builds up a lot of excitement, especially when you get in one of those big rolls with lots of exploding dice.
The game is just great. For me this game is the pinnacle of the MDS System so far. It's a shame the funding didn't really pick up some pace when the campaign was live and it even struggled to get funded at all. You notice that there are some things where we would have probably seen a lot more of, like allies or the extra crisis cards and nemesis that can be used to further spice things up and give even more variety.
@@OneStopCoopShop Yeah same here, but especially since it's such a great game it hurts a little that there could have been more, and now that the Sadler Brothers left Blacklist Games I doubt we will ever see any more content for this Franchise.
Nice vidéo ! always nice to see your playthrough ! I've never looked at this superheroes games, looks fun ! (i already have the Sentinels of the multiverse Definitive Ed. So i'm not going to try this one but it looks funky !) About Blacklist.. well, i have the basic Street Masters, wich is really fun (but some bosses are quite a mess, with tons of micro-rules to keep an eye on) and even if most of the quest are just "destroying the boss faces while surviving all the mobs that are hitting you" i really enjoy it as the theme is really cool (street of rage, double dragon...etc..) But, i'm still waiting my last order from the last pledge from Blacklist... My aftershokz, and two expensions are still somewhere in a hangar... waiting a decent price boat to cross the seas... I'm tired of all those Kickstarter nowadays. And i'm especially tired of BLGames ! I'm done with those ! It's time to get back to bascis, and retail games ! Cheers
This reminds me of Street Masters, the game I don't like much. Altar Quest is more interesting when you go through the dungeon, discovering different rooms and enemies, IMHO.
Great playthrough! I’ve been playing this solo and after watching this I feel more comfortable trying another character as it doesn’t complicate things the way I thought it would. Looking forward to any more playthroughs you might have!
Gems combos with the trinikey tokens are just awesome. Playing him requires a little more forward thinking and planning. I will probably play him some time soon while my wife is playing one of the more straight forward heroes.
So excited for your play through! I’ve played a few games with my copy so far and really loved how quick the enemy/stage turns go in comparison to Street Masters & Altar Quest, while providing the same great theme & challenge. I only hope that BLG is able to continue supporting the game despite the recent company changes because I want more content!
I'm so with you! Best MDS by a landslide! And the issue books make it super fun too!! I want a campaign too that you can string 4 scenarios together wouldn't that be awesone??
@@OneStopCoopShop I think you mentioned you hadn’t played SM in the video, but that is something they added in the AfterShock expansion almost exactly as you described it! Along with the villain story arcs, there are also unique, character-specific story arcs for every hero in the game where you play through 3-4 missions and success or failure impacts your hero deck with upgrades. The stories also add an interesting twist to the usual gameplay and I appreciated the added layer of theme.
@@dorianzoumplis7226 I created two of the Aftershock story arcs, by the way :). It was fun to write the narrative and come up with special bonuses and effects - Mike

Wow that was epic! Wild dice rolling towards the end there! Excellent job managing to prevent the villain from scheming hardly at all. It'd be tempting to avoid the 3 dmg every time but that clearly won you the game. Very clean playthrough rules wise too, great job! Would love to see more!
@@OneStopCoopShop Awesome can't wait! Good choice opting for the minion and bystander tokens for this playthrough as the minis for them are nigh unusable/unidentifiable unpainted. They are my highest priority when I start painting this project.
Unfortunately no, you have to have the focus to use it on a specific die roll. If you roll 2 focus symbols you can gain to focus and use them the next roll!

Thank you Brady for making this!! Wish we could have seen more! You really refined the mds system here and it works beautifully!
How good you feel it is compared to other mds games?

Yup I think you have to go at him with large attacks or a bunch of little ones to remove those focus tokens! But he certainly is a challenge!
