it makes it significantly worse, and the back plate actually holds in so much heat that there have been multiple people who have gotten severe blisters and burns from touching it
Just get the backplate but don’t get the one with the metal plate. Get the one with the hole at the back. It reduces temperature by a lot. That with the ptm 7950 thermal pad reduced my temperature enough to let me be comfortable to overclock to 18w tdp. This brought my cyberpunk avg fps from 35 to 39. There is a possibility of ram and ssd temperature increasing because of the backplate but cryobytes testing did not show much evidence of that. Personally the change was great for me as I live in a very hot environment.
With any luck that hole over the fan doesn't result in killing SSDs or power delivery since Valve specifically put the intake over that area for a reason and warned against deviating the airflow.
@@routine8 Not sure what cable you're talking about. I'm talking about opening up the area by the intake fan that by design doesn't have a hole there so it draws in the air over additional components.
I don't like the idea of the extra vents on the fan. As Gamers Nexus showed, the Steam Deck actually ran cooler with the backplate on because of how the air flaws through it. The vent is on the side with most of the stuff it needs to cool while this mod more just cools the CPU alone.
Yes, it would. Less air going from the entrance in the bottom to the exit on the top. I guess that's why there's a thermal pad on the backcase (there is no thermal pad on the stock case).
Two days ago I ordered their 7-in-1 docking station w/ extra power supply, their 2 pack of anti-glare screen protectors, and their large case that can hold the charger and docking station all for around $88 and change. Their Steam Deck stuff seems really good. I didn't even look at the backplates. I wonder if they'll do a plain black vented back plate.
Steam deck has better controller/button layout and software support. ROG ally has faster hardware and windows but windows ain't that great with just a controller
Does the 4k 120 work with the steam deck and the other ports work? That doenst seem to make sense i dont think the steam deck has the bandwidth to do that. I think the steamdeck will only do 4k 60 if youre using any of the other ports.
Not bad but i seen a really nice crystal case by eXtremeRate that would look really nice with some RGB even the buttons on that case are clear too! I'm planning to buy a Steam Deck myself soon and i'm just on the hunt for cool stuff i can probably get for it since i'm going with the cheapest option for the Deck and just going to get cheaper memory for it and then it saves me money to customise it
So ok, it's just us here now. Let's just break kayfabe for a second. Nobody actually *likes* rainbow RGB, right? Everybody is just paying for it as a status symbol at this point, right? Like, the idea was to have programmable RGB to match a specific color scheme, but they all defaulted to rainbow when not configured and now we all have these persistent images of unicorn puke and everybody is too ashamed to admit all this gamer gear looks like absolute trash, right?
Well, kinda of hard not to have it. Just built a computer, if I wanted a part non RGB, I would have to wait or look harder. Kinda of hard not to get RGB. Personally, it's not my thing, and my computer sits on the floor, so it's not like I'll see it anyway. Only thing RGB I have is my rainbow 🌈 colored GPU since I don't want to download another software to change it. It's stupid.
ok so, some people leave the tags on their shoes and hats so they look like they just came off the shelf 10 minutes ago. the rainbow effect is a shelf demonstration and some people just leave it. i tend to remove the tags from my clothes and change my RGB to some color i like. rainbow puke doesn't look good, but i like RGB and don't wanna give it up, and i think most people actually do change the color
@@LorenzoJ0 Yeah, that's the thing, right? We ALL think it's dumb. But they keep selling it to us. At a premium. Bundled with the stuff we really like and making it look like it's designed for a five year old girl and an edgy fifteen year old boy simultaneously, somehow. They blended a Lamborghini poster with a My Little Pony doll and went "this is the default aesthetic of $2000 hardware now", and we all act like that's normal.
@BrightEyes83 I think it's from being forced to. It used to be that it was hard to find something RGB. Now it's the default. I'd rather not pay the extra money for something that doesn't do me anything. Even if I wanted RGB, it would be pointless since my desktop sits on the floor next to my desk, and I can't admire it if I wanted to. Why my GPU stays rainbow. I don't see it, why waste the time downloading another bloatware program. It's funny people will disable a whole bunch of Windows programs but download bloatware 😆.
Brett, you're great but you should have done benchmarks. I really want to see what's going on with that vent. Does it actually help?

Couldn't the cable be turned 180deg so it doesn't block the vent?

@@cracklingice ohhhh right I gotcha I was talking about the USB C for the dock blocking the exhaust. Good point about the intake.

Doesn't adding the new vent deprive other components of airflow? Those inbetween the fan and the original vent.

They do! Mine is on the way. Same price as the old version
I just like it that it has a detachable cable :D
8:10, can't wait for operation switch 3.0, with these covers :)
Excellent video for a neat case!
What is that desk mat? What, where, when and how do I get one. That has nostalgia all over it. Plus I want that dock its awesome. Have a great day.
1:51 Brett, you need to close the aperture a bit in order to get everything in focus. Dock is blurry...
Would be nice for the future, makes next RBG to match the game you're playing.
I don't even own a Steam Deck but I can already feel my SSN being sold by JSAUX
that back plate reminds me of my nokia mod with clear plastic shell and rgb. i think i'm gonna get it
Love the back ground light. What are those?
Audiglow panels
Is the Rog Ally better or Worse than the steam deck because in trying to buy A handheld but don’t know what’s better
Steam deck has better controller/button layout and software support. ROG ally has faster hardware and windows but windows ain't that great with just a controller
Thanks but I think I might just get both
is this the new room? What is your wall made of?

But no more NVME slot in the top! Bah - humbug! but it looks damn nice...
Does the hdmi support vrr? And does the DisplayPort support freesync?
Thermals?
FYI this backplate doesn’t fit the Steam Deck OLED.

Its says the dicount codes isnt valid for the rgb shell
What in the hell are those finger condom's? JUST WEAR GLOVES
Anyone else having signal issues with this thing? I can’t get a signal on my Samsung TV or monitor via HDMI
yar
Now I can get more fps on my steam deck

RGB is pretty tacky and will never give you that frenetic energy you would get from all the game cabinets and pinball lights in an old arcade.

What is wrong with the camera focus? I see your face more than the product.
Fck I just bout a Jsaux dock like 3 days ago. (*facepalm)

Why the steam deck it’s super slow and honestly one of the worst hand helds I have besides the switch.
