4:08 Mengu makes a prediction that the 1 damage may matter in the long term. Then 8:20 he draws the card that gives him exact lethal. Good to see tight play being rewarded!
It's really nice that you compliment your opponents when they make good plays (such as the Death's Shadow player killing their own Shadow for the lethal). Complimenting others costs nothing and spreads an atmosphere of good sportsmanship!
17:47 "why is this deck called the rock" In the early 2000s, the rock (yes that one) was a very popular wrestler and one of his catchphrases was "the rock and his millions" and that was the nickname for the card deranged hermit because it came with a bunch of squirrels (his millions) and that was the wincon for the original rock deck. That's where the name originates from
G2 vs Amulet spellbomb could of draw another card. Also it could grow goyfs g1 in case they didnt destroy boots. Anyway glad to see The Rock back on the menu!
Eldrazi aggro convo got me thinking. If eye of ugin was back in modern, and just the eye nothing else. What would change about the lists. Smasher again? Mimics? Do we go thru a eldrazi winter 2 electric boogaloo?
I know "I just netdeck" but curious the creators decision to not use abrupt decay or that new uncounterable black removal spell over go for the throat. They are the same CC, can't be countered (if frog the problem), and face it most threats are 3CC or less in modern.
During the round 3 vs ub shadow earlier in the game Andrea took 1 more point of damage then necessary during an ealier swing in with the goyf, as he decided to wait til end of turn to use Agathas to remove a card to weaken the goyf instead of before damage was dealt. Their was also no real other line of play by the opponent could have done that would have given him reason to hold back the Agatha activation until end of turn other than just doing it by force of habit. I think he was distracted with chat and if he had just exiled the card he was going to anyway at end of turn then he would have had one more life, just enough life to avoid being killed exactsies at the end of that close game.
If WotC would have printed Barrowgoyf instead of Nethergoyf into Modern we could see the golden age of mid range in the next two years. Nethergoyf just isnt good enough.
Hey Mengu, hope you been well. I’m wondering what’s your favorite format currently? Do you ever see yourself moving away from modern? Or even moving to another game? It would be really really helpful to hear your thoughts on the overall health of the game. Maybe you can address it on stream or in the podcast. But I’d love to quickly hear what you think. Sending love!
Hey mengu! I saw you commented about flesh and blood on social media! I would love to see some fab content from you! You are my favorite pro player to watch and cheer for

Appreciate the time stamps :)
THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!! THAT'S WHY IT'S THE ROCK! THE ROCK!

I miss Dark Confidant 😢

Comment because The Solution got a shout-out...love that deck. 59:20
Love for the Goyfs!
The Army Bowmasters makes is really good with the Cauldron ability and Grist or Fulminator
Hey Mengu, why is nobody playing Pick Your Poison anymore? It felt like such a powerhouse against amulet, ring, saga, etc
Cause everyone is playing Boros and Jeskai.
@@riotron1026nur Not every Deck is Boros, jeskai or Mardu but nearly all decks Play Ring
@@MyNameIsElmoo and how many if those decks are G decks
@@chickennoodles4491 i guess the card got popular with leyline/scion as well as ur murktide and isnt that relevant anymore

It's for Murktide
@@Chatot4444 Murktide is barely in the format and if that is your concern the something like sudden eddict better as your GFTT will just get countered

This deck is so cool, but it has so many bad cards in it 😂
Which cards are bad in your opinion? Witherbloom?

Nethergoyf is quite strong.
@@jscire625In legacy yes, in modern no.
Why not both! And pyrogoyf too!
@2:05:00 dead guy ale is a well known us ipa from the west coast yeah
Do you think go for throat is better than power word kill? I know that constructs are a thing, didn't know if pwk avoided any relevant creature types
I wana see more wight rock!!
What’s about the build with fanatic of rhonas, shelly and ring that you and pivo tried in the early days of the format?

Modern still best gameplay. I like legacy and pauper too although they have some toxic decks which are a bit less fun, but still overall good.
1:00:20 i think you can kill pw tamiyo with witherbloom so its not a creature in this form
True i miss that
