I've been chasing Metallica guitar tones in GR5 for a few years now. I've found that the Ultrasonic amp model (Bogner Uberschall) and the proper cabinet (Either the Brit 80's Black or the 60's Green cab) get much closer. Heavy EQ is required, but if you follow the general trend of the EQ in the notes with some close listening you can get most of the way there. It'll never be perfect but I've had much better success that way.
If been buying more models lately and had huge success with extensive ir's. I think it's time i updated this video and tried to match it with as little cost as possible.
Cool idea but not for me. I uninstalled Guitar Rig shortly after this video and never looked back. There are so many better options (Neural DSP, Amphub/Tonehub, Bogren Digital, Neural Amp Modelling [free], and I'm sure there's loads more). Plugin Alliance also has a very good model of the Diezel VH4 which I'm under the impression is the amp used by Adam. I would recommend a 3rd party IR though. The ones that come stock with that VH4 are average and the interface to flick through them is even worse.
Like an even smarter genius, I did save the session and just found it. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1frRfYj0MBOmjti4Yz5mn4_rmgBBaWc-T?usp=sharing enjoy.
Hey Matt, thanks for the comment, and i agree. I'll be doing a follow up to this soon enough with some better quality amp sims (with way more IR options). Personally i was shocked at how much effort it took to get guitar rig no where close to a good result.

nice video bro!! your good tone is incredible!!!
I do believe that they used more than 2 guitar tracks so probably that's also a reason yours sounds close but not as punchy? Perhaps I'm wrong though
Super underrated
Adam jones tone on guitar rig please, it would be interesting

This is awesome!
Not a bad effort! I think to get that more live amp sound, you need to use a good IR.
