Fantastic demonstration Mike. You were really able to bring out all of the things this amp can do. Definitely one of the better presentations I’ve see on the Katana. 👍 ⭐️💥
Great demo! Much like the HB's, you're turning on the GAS big-time! I had pretty much sworn off a new amp as I love using modelers, but this thing sounds fantastic and is an upgrade from the Mk I. Extremely versatile and spot on tones. God bless and rock on 😎👍🎸

I'm a Marshall man but I think these Katana Artists kick butt. Excellent amps, incredible value and versatility. And you don't have to worry about tubes.
The WAZA speaker is the un acknowledged star of the combo and the reason it is 2 bills more than the head. It’s really amazing and is ‘tuned’, so to speak, to the Katana. It sounds even better after it breaks in. Maybe the best amp pound for pound ever made. I own a JC120, Quilter, Orange Rocker head, and an ENGL Fireball head. Owned Fenders and Marshalls. Not going to lie the ENGL is better, but also costs 4 x as much and is loud, Loud, and LOUD regardless of attenuation. Even more amazing with the Katana is when you use the MIDI input for your Helix or whatever. That speaker is a real star, believe me, it sounds so good I rarely use the other amps. I do think you need another 2x12 preferably the one that goes with this for a big enough metal sound if you are playing with another guitarist who is using a Marshall or something.

Great review! I'm hearing some high frequency sparkles on the acoustic guitar which I believe you are not suppose to hear from just a 12 inch woofer without the tweeter. Did you get that high end from the line out or the mic?
Yes I took pretty much all of the line out signal when I heard the recording back. It seems to have an IR almost identical to the speaker in the combo. It's the best line out representation of an amp ice ever heard. You are right though, for some reason the acoustic does sound slightly zingy. I hadn't noticed until you pointed it out. It's subtle and doesn't it me of using it but I would eq it a little for a recording.
@@Chinaguitarsceptic Thanks for the update.. Im really learning towards getting one of these amps, I occasionally need an acoustic amp this seems can get the job done adequately, which is a huge plus. I heard lot people saying the modelling amp lacks the attack response of a valve amp and feels very different, do you feel the same? I'm considering either this or a Marshall DSL40CR/ Blackstar HT40 MKII as main amp.
@Steven Avis there will be a difference as modellers have to convert the signal, however latency is so minimal I've not really 'felt' it. You could say it's no worse than the effects of the tube amp squish/sag compression effect. So it could be argued that the opposite is true. If you're a super high end player who can feel such tiny differences, then you'll probably be spending ten times this for an amp anyway. At the same time players like that can usually make any gear sound great. I was very happy with the sound of the acoustic guitar settings and would be very happy to gig with this amp. As always I would try one out for yourself at a store if you can. I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised how usable all of the tones are immediately. It's been voiced brilliantly and just sounds right and feels responsive to play.
@@Chinaguitarsceptic Thanks for the reply. I'm the opposite of a high end player - just getting into electric guitar and want a decent amp to start with. Somehow all the local stores run out of all Katanas. I also like the fact that this has a top end speaker in it, I own a lot hi-fi speakers, the upper spectrum of the same speaker brand makes huge difference. Most people seem speak very highly about the Katana, the criticism usually around "does not feel like an valve amp" or does not cut through band mix very well. If an advanced player like you cannot feel the responsiveness difference then it should be more than good enough for me. Have you tried this in live situation?
Very good question given that both sound so good. I haven't had them side by side but I think Andy did and he seemed to say that the artist was worth the extra money if you have it.

I was going to purchase a marshall tube amp for killer sound, but was in Nashville a few ago saw several bands had the katana artist mk 2. I asked them why not a tube amp. they said that it sounds almost as good or 80% of a tube amp but prefer solid state cuz they're constantly hauling amps around and dont want to worry about broken tubes or replacing tubes.. these two guitar players at two different bars on Broadway were excellent and both use the katana artist mk 2 with the GA-FC footcontroller. They both said almost as good as tube but better versatility and functionality. hot and cold weather hauling an amp in and out constantly gigging. They said no worry with dealing with tubes. The katana 100 artist mk 2 was plenty loud and they preferred the amp to a helix or pod go pedal. I literally came home from Nashville and ordered the katana artist mk2 over the Marshall DSL 40....
greetings Gents. Great video! Thank you! I just got my katana mk 2 and now starting to understand it. I also picked up the GA-FC foot pedal. does anybody know what button you press on the foot controller to run the solo boost on the panel of the amp?
I'm thinking about buying two of these amps so I can have stereo sound. I guess I'll need some kind of stereo pedal to get stereo sound from my mono guitar?
@@bobby1970 Boss just dropped the price last week in Oregon (9-5-22) to $499 on amazon and guitar center. I am going to grab a second one to run two with my GA-FC controller. I used to play a Mesa boogie 5:25 amp and I loved it to be honest these Katanas are super reliable with no tube hassles for gigging musicans and I feel like I can get about 90% of the sound of my old mesa so for hauling an amp around from gig to gig the katana artist Mk2 is pre genius. The Katanas features and tones.
I've seen a lot of you tube videos
on the amp but I enjoyed your Way.
Thanks so much my friend. 💜
Can this Amp connect to a PC/MAC via USB to use with a DAW to record and do guitar tracking? Thanks
Thank you. njoy.
Thanks 😊
Nice video. Curious what model that HB guitar is!
Is a mark 2 less Paul
Thanks! I can’t seem to find that one on the Thomann site. Really a beautiful guitar.
I'm not sure they do them any more I'll have a look for you
Hey brother thank you for this! Just curious what you mean by “2 banks of effects?” Thanks!
There are actually 3
@@Chinaguitarsceptic so every time u switch the bank (a,b,c) the effects change along with it? :)
Yes
@@Chinaguitarsceptic thank you this was of great help ~ I’m getting this amp :)
It's really great
Does it have to heat up before each use or in general
No. Only Tube Amps do.
Its absolutely awesome how "budget" gear (no offence) can sound amazing .. wow
Glad you like it! Yes you don't have to spend a fortune these days to get nice sounding kit, even in the hands of a hack like me!! :-)
@@Chinaguitarsceptic well, I would say that your hands are really the trick in here ) But yeah - I must admit that after watching few of review vids I am seriously considering selling my Marshall set and go Katana ... something I never thought I would say.
@@yourfavoritedemon9473 here's my take on it buddy. If you can afford to I'd keep the Marshall. My katana sits on top of my half stack. Never really use anything but the katana now but I love all my amps too much to get rid
You won't regret it.
I looove my artist MK2...question. I want a good 4x4 half stack cabinet. What is a good one with this as a head
I've run it through my Marshall 4x12 and it sound great. But it also sounds good through the Benton 2x12 with v30s
greetings Gents. Great video! Thank you! I just got my katana mk 2 and now starting to understand it. I also picked up the GA-FC foot pedal. does anybody know what button you press on the foot controller to run the solo boost on the panel of the amp?
Cheers. You just program it to any button I believe
The best solid state amp I have played without the high prices of tube amps
Well worth every penny
instead of using a Mic, can you run the line out direct to the snake and connect to FOH sound from your katana artist?
Yes
@@Chinaguitarsceptic question: the line out is a quarter inch cable. is it balanced? will it sound professional like my fishman then has an XLR balanced line out?
Yes it sounds really great 👍
Far too complicated for me. Anyway, how much does it weigh?
11Kg
19kg
Well done Michael! Will the half-watt setting get quiet enough to avoid upsetting your neighbors, or do you need to use headphones? 😎
Cheers mate. Yes you can get it quiet enough, but it's no work as it sounds cracking through the outputs too
@@Chinaguitarsceptic Thanks bud! 😎
@@patrickfitzgerald2861 my pleasure mate
is this a tube emulator amp?
It sounds like a tube amp that's for sure
yo you totally stole netflix intro guy...
Yup
Is that 30 watt?
100W bud
@@Chinaguitarsceptic From your demo it seem like a great amp. One thing I wished Boss would have done, for convenience, is have another input so U could use both acoustic and electric using the same amp, although U could use the electric through a pedal. That defeats the object of all the infinite tones on the amp though.
Or you could use an aby pedal to put both guitars into one input
@@Chinaguitarsceptic I hadn't thought of that. Thinking of buying a Boss pedal but I have no experience of them. Are they easy to set up?
Yes very
This is just SAD!
Why
He isn’t with us anymore 😔
