It's been a while since we've had a "real" Spot the Scotts video...even though you were sick, you're still funny! "No one likes cold caulk"...lol...It's smart to do the updates/upgrades before it gets really bad...that way your renters will recommend you to others and come back. If it's too beat up or old, people won't want to come back. Can't wait to see it all finished and put together.
Oh no! I'm sad to hear that you feel we haven't been the "real" spot the Scotts lately. Can I ask why? We sure are being ourselves and sharing lots of things but I'm trying to learn what to narrow it down to so I would appreciate the feedback.
+Spot The Scotts // FULL TIME RVing Life! Oh dear, I didn't mean it in a bad way! the last few have been about Brian's parents and the Airstream - they've been a different vibe. When you two are doing your "normal" lives, you come across more relaxed and funny. Sorry...I don't know how else to say it. But the other videos were TOTALLY interesting, too! I love your channel
We love Estes park, your so lucky to have a cabin there. I can understand the work involved but i'm sure it's worth it when its all caught up. I always complain to my wife about our business every time something breaks or needs to be remodeled I want to just sell and get out but then I come to my senses and realize the money it brings in.
I'm honestly struggling with that too. We didn't make as much last year as I thought. But, I also realize that the property value is increasing meanwhile I'm not paying to own the house since expenses are covered. We decided to see how this full year goes before deciding anything :) where do you guys own property?! It's nice to chat with another rental property owner.
We don't own a rental house, we own a large Salon and Spa with 30 renters in Burleson TX. We have had it 10 years and I get to keep it up. Love your attitude while working much better than mine, but ours make a lot of money so I just stay in my lane and be nice. Keep up the good work and waiting on the review of the new truck vs the Duramax.
+Too Old to Coast hehehe. Ok ok. I swear it's on our list we are just so behind on videos. I'll see if Brian is willing to record it today. 😁 salon and spa sounds awesoooome!! If you ever do want to sell it please think of me. We are always looking for good business investments.
Very nice cabin, love it. Thats awesome way to make money even though you have to keep up with it here and there. Sorry your not feeling so well. Hope your better now. Thanks for sharing. Love the wood pieces for the table.
Dealing with cabins, especially one that has been closed for awhile, we found (after testing) high levels of mold spores even though no visual signs and high levels of radon if it was on a foundation versus on post with air circulating underneath. Open every door and window for the better part of a day, especially when you vacuum. You can rent high volume fans also. Testing is not crazy expensive and well worth it.
I was going to ask about rental info but then I read the description and saw the link. Looks like a nice place to stay. We are thinking about heading up that way over Thanksgiving.
+Amy That's great Amy! Unfortunately, we are already booked for Thanksgiving :( We tend to book it toward the beginning of the year. But check out our calendar on the VRBO page and see if there are any open dates that may work for you! :)
Denver has a VERY high housing price right now, which is also raising rent and making rentals disappear quickly. There's really nothing specific I could suggest other than websites like Trulia and Criagslist and looking for rentals, but they are going QUICK.
+FreidasGarden Don't worry, we did! It's the delivery company they contracted with that acted this way. I don't know if they'll stop using them or not, but you probably would not be dealing with that same company locally.
+Spot The Scotts // FULL TIME RVing Life! I should have said an old lady like me! hahaha Well then you did good! It's the job of people my age to call and complain! When I was younger I would just let it slide.
Thanks so much! It has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. It's not that big by American standards at 1500 square feet, but it sure feels huge to us now that we live in 1/5 the size!
I love this idea of having an income property....great thinking..do you have to be there for each of the bookings? Would love to hear more about this!!! Very Interesting indeed!
+Kris Hopper nope not at all, we do everything through VRBO.com and there's a lockbox on the house. I'm not super happy with VRBO lately though (I've been doing this for 5 years) so may look at switching websites, but overall it's been good for us.
Actually we LOVE IKEA and their products... It's this outside delivery service they contracted with that we didn't like. I let them know. Normally we pick up everything ourselves but we were getting an awful lot of stuff!
+gringogallego Kind of! We live full time in our fifth wheel but it isn't stationary, we travel in it. We plan to use the airstream as a reno project and then also for shorter "vacation-like" trips amongst our travels, particularly if we want to stay IN a National Park instead of near it, or anywhere else that has length restrictions that don't accommodate our 5th weel. Also maybe for some Airstream or classic motorhome rallies/get togethers.
Thanks for replying, very sweet of you both. My only son just graduated from college and I'm seriously ready for change. Any cabins for rent? or any website you can recommend?

A man that cooks AND cleans?!?!? That's a rare combo 😉. Love your videos 👍🏻
+Michelle Fichter Right? PLUS he's handsome, look at that beard! hehehe. I really lucked out with this one.

+Kim Nowell Thanks so much. We love our cabin! And yes, we are feeling much better, thank you!
Thank you both so much for everything, you were very helpful. And your video's are great (:

We have testing every year :) And actually it's never closed up, we rent all year long :)

For warm lights, use "led" bulbs, cool and 1/10 the power usage.
We did switch to LED down there but had to swap out the cool blue ones for the warm white ones... Still LED though. It's so much nicer now!
I'm craving for change and Colorado has always been my choice. Have to come up with a plan quick (:
Colorado is a WONDERFUL place to live!
Nobody likes cold "caulk". 😂😂😂😂. Good video.
+Lori Nevel Right?!?! brrrr....
I'd like to try Denver (:

You should call store about how rude they were because they could do that to some old lady like me. You could prevent jerk attacks! Please call them!

What a lovely place! It is huge! How many bedrooms are there? You are doing good work! Take care xxx

one word, American Furniture Warehouse, who buys from IKEA ? LOL

Good looking cabin. Just curious though, you have a 5th Wheel that you live in and you are going to travel with the Air Stream?

Got it......long trailer/truck combo could be tricky in some places i.e. Yosemite.
Thanks for responding
Of course! I try to reply to every comment! Yes, it will be great for places like that, or anytime we want to do a shorter little "vacation" :-D
