TapOut by AHO student wins the Sustainability Award | Pro Carton Young Designers Award 2023

This year's Pro Carton Young Designers Award - Sustainability Award winner was Tapout, developed by a student at Arkitektur - og designhøgskolen i Oslo in Norway.
Johannes Nyborg Heyning told us what the award meant to him, the effort that went into his design and the problem it solved. He also explained why it was great to be at the Pro Carton Young Designers Award in Seville. We also spoke with his tutor, Stein Rokseth, to understand the value to students.
About TapOut
TapOut is a superb and highly creative battery package that collects both used and unused batteries in one place. Rather than simply holding new batteries, its ingenius design also enables consumers to store used batteries for recycling.
To access your new battery you simply push and slide your «tapped out» battery into the perforated slot. And with the lid on top of the package, you'll always know how many fully-charged batteries you have at your disposal.
When the battery pack is filled with used batteries, it is ready to be taken for recycling! No more misplaced batteries, neither at home or in the wrong trash bin.
