SuperPat88 Amen to that, I like it WAY better than the Disco Theme also, Rick Rosner also gave us 240-Robert, Just Men! w/Betty White, The NEW Hollywood Squares w/John Davidson and Caesar's Challenge w/Ahmad Rashad also, "CHiPs" is owned by Turner/Warner Bros.
I watched the ending to the one with Rosey Greer in it last night. When Ponch was disguised as a Frenchman in driving class, and Baker slid out the classroom. THAT WAS HILARIOUS!!
The 1st season closing credit music and scenarios were always funny... Too bad they stopped using them later on. Lazy bastards. Love that Mercedes 280 coupe. Classic.
Yes! I'm glad someone else noticed this! The 1st season closing credit scenes were almost always INSPIRED and very witty, clever. This scene holds up over 40 years later as laugh out loud funny. The later seasons were stupid, just music and a freeze frame of them smiling over a corny dad joke.
aaronrowand3 I like Season 1 Theme WAY better than the Disco Theme and when I get "CHiPs" on DVD, I'm buying Season 1 b/c of the theme and even though this was Rick Rosner's best works outside The NEW Hollywood Squares, Season 1 will FORVER be the better theme than the Disco Theme
Does this scene ever make anyone else feel positively MORTAL and conscious of all us becoming old? This is from 1977, and poking fun at clueless old ladies. Back then the young cops like Ponch and Jon, are now today in their 70s, and likely OLDER then Mrs. Geller was back then. She looks like she's in her 60s, but heck she might even been late 50s. She acted like she was 90s though with that old lady wave to a cop trying to pull her over and then driving right off the freeway. Still a hilarious scene.
No it doesn't make me feel that way at all. You're probably just feeling your own mortality and when you see old people with young people it's more pronounced. Happens to us all. No sense in worrying about something you can't change. Just enjoy life at any age if you can
This is one of the many shows from my youth that made California look SO COOL to an east coast kid. Now California sucks a$$ and I’m so glad to be 3000 miles from there.
i love chips i wish they would have it on one of the retro t.v. net works and when it was on t.n.t. it was a great time watching the late 70s earl 80s and the 90s when it was on t n t great laughs and great actor and great actresses . the movie was a bad joke .
Chips plays 3x a day on this tv channel called Charge. I get it on my antenna, I think Charge is available in most places in the US. Great to have this classic show back on tv!
the movie stunk! the show was the greatest back in the 1970s 1980s and when it came back on t.n.t net work . it used to be on H&I network for a short time back in the late 1990s early 2000s it was on T.B.S. hopefully a retro network will pick it up again soon and keep it on for a long while like other great shows .

I never get tired of this clip.
"The ending was so hilarious and the banter between ponch & sgt getrear was so funny believe it or not".
It was REALISTIC AND RELATABLE unlike todays shows
Someone please make a show like this again. Please!
Bored please is unneeded it’s annoying like telemarketers who call you during dinner
@@sherryhannah498or people like you who don’t know how to obey their authorities.
They won't. It would be too expensive especially with the insurance and expensive location shooting..

Pilot episode of CHiPs featured music score from Mike Post and Pete Carpenter!!!
Of Rockford Files fame and many more
For me, the 1st season theme of *CHiPs* is the best.

+Keon Jenkins I LOVE THAT PART.
+Keon Jenkins Whenever I think about that part, I still get a chuckle out of it.
A dash-mounted or body-mounted camera would have vindicated Ponch here, if they'd had them in the 70's.
They had the technology but it wasn't cost effective.
That funky beat, though.
I grew up watching this as a kid love it.
Thank you. My favorite all time closing.

It wasn't laziness it was money.

I always thought the old lady driving the car was the greatest actress of all time.
She had quite a set of knockers too
The best tv show
Was looking for this scene
Back before Ca really turned to shit

I think the first season of CHIPS originally started on Thursday nights
