Your video has brought so many memories for me .I had my appendix out in the surgical in 1960. I remember alot of the street names . When you said the half acre, the dew drop inn seeing the Cathedral, the new bus station, Provideders and Dunn Stores. We left Ireland in1963,we always came from Dublin to the old bus depot where my Auntie k collected us by car. We were visiting relatives 7 kilometres outside Cavan town. Funny enough I now live approximately 20 miles from where you friend lives in England. Thank-you for sharing I'm sure your friend really appreciated all what you have done for him,it's priceless.
In 1982/3 13 of us came to Cavan from Leeds, with an old Cavan man Tony 'o' Rourke he arranged digs for us in the American Bar, it was a scorching summer and the fishing wasn't too good , but the welcome from the people of Cavan was fantastic. The beer flowed 24 hours a day. We met Barry Mcguighan in the Chinese takeaway and we even made it onto the front page of a local paper thanks to someone from the local tourist board whowe met in a snooker hall. A week in Cavan is a week i will never forget.
Cavan, that treasured town where i was blessed to meet my lovely wife Moira, whilst working at St Pat's and just celebrated our 58th togather, a great town with the best of people.
Thanks for uploading. I’ve lived in Cavan for 99% of my life and love seeing what it was like back when I can’t remember like in 2002. Some things I can remember were the way they were in this video when I was young.

Fantastic video. I came to Cavan to work in my first job as a 19 year old in 1999. How the town has changed in the meantime. I had the pleasure of meeting Terry Weir also, a real character he was. Wonderful to see Cavan back then and brings back lovely memories. Also very sad to think of all those people who ran shops, pubs etc and are all since gone. Time goes by too quickly. I'll look forward to watching this again in a few years to reminisce once more

I like Cavan town. About 2 years ago I did my motorbike training and test in the town even though I live about an hour away. I did a lot of practicing around the town and passed first time so I will always have good memories of Cavan town.
So many memories of Cavan left there with my family ln the 60s have been back several times over the years but still remember it as it was back then. Thank you for the video lovely to see the old place when I get lonely. Margo
You'll find McManuses scattered throughout the county. There's even a McManus Pharmacy in Belturbet, so you know the name is well-established in the area. Perhaps you could try searching for local genealogy groups or historical societies in Cavan. They might be able to point you in the right direction."
