- Invenio Engineering Solutions and Navy Engineering Division are helping to define the delivery of scenario-based training on-board Armidale Class Patrol Boats (ACPB) for the Royal Australian Navy, using Invenio's REFINE concept.
REFINE -- an acronym for Real time Engineering Fleet-training Interactive Naval Environment has been developed by Invenio using Dassault Systemes' software.

This unique interactive training capability resulted in Invenio's appointment to develop a 3D interactive model of the Royal Australian Navy's Armidale Class Patrol Boat. Used initially to demonstrate the benefits of this technology, the ACPB 3D Interactive Model can be used as a baseline platform to deliver online induction training, with the option to extend to REFINE's full capabilities.
Dassault Systemes' 3DVIA Studio, a triple-A rated game engine was chosen for this project specifically for its ability to directly import CAD geometry, both in the file-neutral STEP format and natively from Dassault Systemes' CATIA 3D CAD platform.
In a typical game development workflow, 3D CAD data is too detailed and "heavy" to import directly into a game engine, requiring the data to be completely re-modelled into optimised polygons. As the inevitable engineering design changes arise at the source 3D CAD level, the optimised polygon re-modelling process needs to be repeated to incorporate those changes. This is a manual process, adding a substantial resource effort to a project and ultimately increasing the time and cost of delivery.
With 3DVIA Studio, the remodelling of CAD data into optimised polygons is automated and efficient, completed in the export process which removes a large component of development time and cost from the project. Adding value, any changes to the source 3D CAD data can be automatically propagated to the 3DVIA Studio project and any subsequent interactivity contained within. Also, through the development and delivery of a 3DVIA Studio project, the customer not only receives immersive interactive content, it also receives a maintained engineering 3D CAD model. - Наука та технологія
Great video, I agree, the British navy should have a stronger patrol force, RAN make the best naval ships
Hi, I would like to understand what was the input data from the navy for this walkthru, was it CAD data or you had to create the simple 3d model as the ship Cad data might be too heavy. thanks
I did I tour of HMAS Glenelg today haha
Can you just give me a name of programm, that you re using to show thie ship plsss
NiXaFTW Hi there, the program is Dassault Systemes' 3DVIA. @3If you like to discuss applications of this solution, please contact us at info@invenio.com.au
What was that cartoon about
This boat is too lightly armed to be of any use beyond fisheries protections and smuggling interdiction. Whats the length on the boat?
The length of an Armidale-class patrol boat is 56.8 m (186 ft) and yeah, you're right in that it's only meant for coastal patrol, fisheries protection, anti-smuggling and anti-piracy.
Australia has a really long coastline so it makes sense for them to have these boats.
56.8M
ACPB what these are for, as well as the CCPB
so how do we download i think everyone wants to actually walk on this thing.:3
I would like to download it or buy it.
Can we get it
Where does the Walrus float plane launch from?
But the reson we have smaller ships is because we have better tech than NZ
I guess this isnt an application the average jo can just get and walk around the ship on...
How can I download it
Not as fast(especially in a big sea) as a ww2 destroyer Quiberon 36 knots.
Old scurvy sea dog !
if they only knew these boats are shit broken and lost i used to work on these and they are falling apart
they are still running in 2020
anyone seen the Canadian Navy patrol boats. I believe they are second hand from japan or something. they are over 20 years old some of them.
If you google HMCS Kingston you will find the only new ship in the past 7 years.
David Henighan you have it good my friend you have it good.
Unfortunately both Canadian political parties are doing their best to dodge new defense kit spending. www.cbc.ca/news/politics/federal-budget-defence-milewski-1.3506670
Dat shitty coorporate soulless music tho...
