His advice is probably the most serious, well thought, spot on, advice an actor can give.

Michael Scott he didn’t say anything about pessimism or being American. He just said it’s not enough to WANT to do it. We’ve been taught we can will it into existence and he’s saying it doesn’t work like that.

I LOVE FILTH. is one of the greatest performances of McAvoy, he's just so brilliant in it. I spend three days totally out of the world, shocked ì, confused and just that feeling of helplessness after watching that film, so brilliantly done. his character is meant to portrayed as a mean and dark person, that is not liked by the audience. yet, i sympathize with him so much. i was really upset, because i didn't get if his family left him because of his behavior or if his behavior was consequential of his family leaving him. it left me heartbroken and with a sense of guilt for sympathizing that much with such an horrible character.

I loved filth.. It had bits and pieces that tied everything in, and the twist.. That caught me by surprise. It had its moments where it was funny, but it was a slow decent into madness.
Its definitely one of my favorite movies. While, it's not for everyone, it does make you feel for him at the end of the movie. By far, one of his best performances.

not an obvious casting for Robbie?!! WHAT!??? thats one rule that he was literally meant to play! hes perfect for that character

He doesn't look anyhing like the character described in the book, but yeah, I completely agree with you. He had this innocene that gets abused and torn apart down so perfectly!! What a wonderful interview. WHAT A WONDERFUL MAN!!

Not obvious based on appearance, mostly. Keira actually said that on the first day, she was kinda surprised to see him because he wasn't anything like what she'd imagined. But then he started acting, and her perception of the role changed to match his portrayal (which I think is just the highest praise). So yeah, I agree with you that he was PERFECT for the role. That's obvious in hindsight, but probably not at the time (esp cuz he wasn't very well-known then either).

Well that is because he is a brilliant actor. To me he hasn't been obivious casting for a lot of films he's done. Yet he is always perfect in them and you always end up with the feeling no body else could have played that part. He brings a lot to every movie he is in that is for sure.

My college boyfriend was a fantastic actor and musician, and in love with it. But, didn't have the fierceness or motivation to do the constant and ongoing rejection and self promotion to take it further, so he's still doing regional theater and bar bands. I think he's happy enough, but has a teaching gig to put bread on the table. So I think a bit of grit and assertive seeking is necessary to make it farther than that, if that's what one is out for. P.S. Love James McAvoy.
