Hello Gary, wow you are far more experienced than me so then with their products. Yes, it certainly looks like an amazing bit of software so far. I am personally very excited to get my hands on the final version and have a good play with it. This could really be a big step up for ON1 users.
Its a great program. Love the masking. Out of this world. My son and I just got back Ireland (Dublin and Northern Ireland. Took many photos of Dunluce castle and what a beautiful coast line. Unfortunately for me I thought my camera was set for RAW as it always is but somehow I must have changed and ended up with only with JPEG. On1 still did a great job. Have image from the castle shooting West of the castle and the coast line was absolutely beautiful
Ah Garry, the way I see that now is you have a great excuse to come back to Ireland again :-) Dunluce is a stunning spot, Giants Causeway is magical also. If you are ever down the South of the country checkout Fastnet Lighthouse, Mizen Head, Three Castle Head, Gugane Barra, Galley Head Lighthouse, The Beara Way, Dingle and just all of Kerry and West Cork. Amazing part of the world.
Looks promising. I've mine ordered already. The bottom line here with 'AI' is edges and halos. How well the software manages these without too much fiddling about refining the masks will be challenging.
Exactly, those edges and fine details will be the critical point here. Getting close to the release date now so we haven't long to wait to find out. I got an updated Beta Version yesterday but I was out on a commercial shoot until late and didn't get a chance to test it yet. Will do that on Monday though, if there is any change I will pop up a video on it. Once I get the final version I will pop up a more detailed review.

If you look behind the sheep in the trees, you'll notice tons of noise created from the AI sharpening. On1Raw is bad about this and why I don't use it. I use DXO Photolab. It's the best on the market for correcting noise and sharpening. With DXO Photolab, it will sharpen without creating any noise.
Hi Stacy, this is the prerelease version so it's stil in Beta, I popped up another video again on Tack Sharp AI which shows how you can kill that noise even though again it's still in Beta. In saying all that I have also heard some good things about DXO Photolab. The end of the day if it works for you keep using it is my motto, software is just a tool afterall.
Hi Brent, I haven't speed tested it yet as this is only a beta version. But as soon as I get a prerelease of the final version I will pop up a full video and cover export speed also 👍
Hi Kieran, For me the absolute difference with the rest o apps to success or not is wether On1 Team manages to control the borders of the masks. For me, I guess this will be crucial to upgrade or not. Such selections are worthless if the mask is not nearly perfect. Let's see how it goes with more intrincated photos. As you say, it is a beta so let's be confident. Oen more question, is it possible to apply both tack sharp Ai only on the sheep? Thanks
Hi Jose, Yes that's exactly it... the masking is only very poor right now but I am told that is going to improve a lot in the final build. Once I get a finished copy I will let ye all know how well it works. On the Tack Sharp AI and only adjusting exactly want sharpened that is going to be a request I was planning on putting into ON1 to be able to give tack sharp AI a mask would be fantastic. Now I have to say I have only tried it very quickly and I could be missing a trick somewhere with masking. I got married last week so I am only half back at work atm :-). I tried that shot in Sharpen AI from Topaz and I couldn't get it perfect in there no matter which model I selected. I requested Topaz add a masking feature but they never replied to me. Then again I am still waiting for a few emails to be replied to that I sent on the 16th of June also :-) I stopped holding my breath a long time ago with Topaz. The team at ON1 are great though and always looking for feedback.
@@kieranhayesphotography Personally I think the masking does a fine job. Now I do the Luminosity Masking feature which allows me considerable flexibility with how fine I want the mask to be. Now I'm assuming you use Photoshop and I can't answer to that. I also have Affinity Photo which is supposed to be "an equal" to Photoshop which I would'nt know. Cant figure Affinity out anyway but still have it. Anyway, Luminosity mask in On1 works fine for me.
@@garyhunt8455 Hi Gary, when I was talking about the masking being poor I meant in super select AI in the auto masking mode. That will be refined though in the final version I am told which will be great news. Very eager to try that out 👍
Darren it's crazy how quickly you can edit a photograph now. Amazing news for us photographers that don't want to spend anymore time at our editing desks :-)

Have had On1 for 5+ years. Love the product. Can't wait for 23. Probably one of the most anticipated improvements for me.

It'd be nice if there was a brush option to remove the tack sharp AI in areas.
Does the 2023 version increase speed on exporting photos? 2022 version is very slow
