HOOPING TRICKS TUTORIAL: A New, Easy Way To Learn The Corkscrew

- The lift or corkscrew is a popular and very useful hoop trick for beginners and beyond. With this step-by-step tutorial from Mad Moonrise Hoop Dance, anyone can learn it. Don't skip any of the steps, they are equally important! It's a good idea to use a large hoop for this trick.
Mad Moonrise is teaching hoop classes in Oslo, Norway. Check out our local courses: www.madmoonrise.com - Фільми й анімація
I just started hooping like three days ago and I went from never having hula hopped and not being able to keep the hoop around my waist for more than two passes to moving while hooping and being able to do a few tricks. I just wanted to say I haven’t tried to corkscrew yet but your tutorial is excellent at breaking it down and I really appreciate it!
I watched your video over and over and paused it as I practiced. I couldn't figure out how your hand was changing position at the top and you just make it look so easy. I finally got it! Thanks! (I did hit my head quite a bit at first!)
Can you try explain the hand movements
@@suck_a_lolly_pop9291 Watch the vid in slow motion and you will understand.
I have the same problem XD and the hula hoop is not staying horizontal, it fall on the side and I punch myself with it XD if someone can help ? Hihi
I feel like this is best tutorial ever because no one ever talks about the grip change! I couldn’t figure this trick out until I watched this video and I was like YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO CHANGE YOUR GRIP THIS IS INCREDIBLE I mean I wondered why really good hoopers seem to “pluck” the hoop into a vortex
Cute choice of music😊
I've been trying to get this, your fee added steps that others don't help have really helped me out.
Now to get the timing down on the actual grip will hooping.
OMG I can do it but not quite as fast as you because I keep hitting my head . Thank you sooo. much
I love it !!! please do more videos like this.
Thanks, that's the best tutorial, it helped me a lot!
Great!

Очень красиво спасибо за уроки очень круто 👍👍👍👍
thanks :D
Nice!!!
Can you please tell me the size an thickness of your hoop as I can’t seem to figure out which is the right one as I have bug hoops and they are too heavy to perfect this trick xxx
i seriously did it I try a lot of times until I did it. And it's so easy do more videos I love your videos ☺
I have a weighted hula hoop. Can I try this trick with that or is there a specific type of hula hoop I would need to teach myself tricks with it?
Robbin Sandlin , I am new to hooping and started with a weighted hoop as well. I personally (because of the bruises I obtained from just waist hooping)would not recommend it. I use a lighter hoop that I made. Works great and hurts a lot less!😊
Hi Crystal Haggerty, thank you so much for your response. I ended up ordering a Polypro 3/4" 34 inches hoop, per my further research, guess it's a lot lighter. I have tried doing the corkscrew, but in practicing with this weighted one, I'm lucky I didn't break my iPhone when it slammed onto the desk. LOL. How the heck did you make one. Good for you
You can order polypro tubing from websites that specialize in hooping supplies, or you can buy irrigation tubing from the hardware store. Hooping supply store sell decorative tape (sparkly, reflective, colour changing, patterned etc.) to decorate your hoop as well. And then you just need to cut the tubing to proper size you like and assemble the hoop. It's kinda fun, but when I ordered tubing the smallest package I could find was 100', so I made one hoop and I still have 90' of tubing sitting around YIKES
Hey :) whats the difference to the vortex? 🤗
What kind of hulahoop did you use? and what size?
Спасибо❤👏👏👏👏💐
Mam... What's the material of the ring????
Is there away to bring it back down to waist hooping again?
Hi What size of hulahoop did you use?
I've been doing hoola hooping since I was 6! I can hold my hoola hoop for more than 6 minutes ^^
I got distracted and started twerking. 😔
Lmfaooooo
Too funny!
I-
How? 🤣
What type of hula hoop you use? Light weight?
hurt myself in the process of trying lmfao I will get it one day soon
I did it, thank you!!! Now I only need to know the song's name :p
Kinda late but its called Trippy by Antiserum and Mayhem.
I wish I watched this before! I probably would have gotten it faster. But my issue is not being able to continue hopping on my hand when I get it up there.
What kind of hoop should a beginner use?

If you haven’t already gotten the answer to this question or if some one else is wondering: get a big/heavy dance hoop. What’s good for me, may not be good for you, but I got the biggest/ thickest size available. Once I got the hang of it I downsized.
Also try decorating your hoop with the sticky vet tape/wraps. It’s what they use to wrap the arm after they draw blood or to cover injuries. It was vital to me learning to chest hoop! It’s sticky, but trust me, it really helps! You’ll want a sticky hoop & a regular hoop for practice b/c the sticky one wasn’t great for learning ISOs, for me anyway. The heavy ones are hard to learn how to do ISOs as well, but to get basic body hooping & transitions down, start with a heavy & large hoop. Go the cheaper route till you figure out what works for you, then you can get fancy, decorative hoops, & even an LED hoop. Don’t spend a lot of money on that stuff just starting out though. Everyone’s different, & what worked well for one person, may not be right for you.
Lol got smacked in the head and whenever I drop it it sounds like I dropped a boulder 😂
can you do tricks in hula hoop for sit still look pretty thanks
How big is your hoop?
Isn't cork screw the name of a water slide at west Edmonton mall
marsss Panda and more um maybe?? You realize corkscrew is an actual word that's had many things named after it, your mall slide isn't the only corkscrew.
A corkscrew is a tool used to open wine bottles, shaped like a spiral. Therefore, it would make sense that a slide (presumably) with a spiral shape, and a hooping move that requires the hoop to move in a spiral, would have the same names.
Call that the Bortex
I hit my head multiple times 😭😭😭
same
same🤣 I wish it wasn't winter so I could practice outside

Comments: it hits my head 😭
Me: wears helmet 👏😃

Been a year. I bet you rock it now! Happy Hoppin’! Keep going! I got into it in 2012. I learned so many tricks & for some reason I stopped. I wonder where I’d be with it if I had just kept on? I won’t be making that mistake again. I had to learn corkscrews again, it had been so long. I had it down pat before. I had chest hooping down pat too. I mean I wasn’t a pro, but I was doing it. I’m slow too. We will speed up, & I bet you already have by now. Stay strong & happy my dear! ✌🏼😄
Even I will tri from today onwords😀😀🤣😅
I've tried this one million times and I just couldn't do it, every single time I tried to bring the hoop up it would stop. Maybe I'm just the kind of person who can't do this trick😠🤕😲😭

Don’t give up! It will come, I promise. Work on it a little each day. Not to the point where you get frustrated, but work on it some. It really helps me to work on a few new tricks during practice each day, that way I can switch it up when I find myself getting frustrated with one trick. I do that, plus work on stuff I already know well to keep my moral up. Also try some yoga with your hoop. Deep breathing, & relaxing stretches before practice does wonders for me.
✌🏼😄
So hard😢
I literally learned to hoop in 10 mins
There's absolutely no way I'm able to grab the hoop and do the corkscrew.
Dude I thought the same thing but I'm able to now. It helps moving with the hoop as your lifting your arm up.
As the video shows, start with a stationary hoop, learn the steps to the corkscrew. Once you get the stros down then work on learning to grip.
I agree it will not come overnight
