Years ago while watching Jason build his first home I made a comment that I thought Jason couldnt build shit but he was proving me wrong, Jason thought it was the best comment he had received so far. Years later, look at him now, there is nothing this young man cant do. So much respect for you Jason.

This was a good video. I remember when I just figured out how to wire solar and batteries. And I made a little system. I must have watched the volt meter or watt meter for weeks. With the panels, you need to check what the max input the Bluetti can take in volts & amps. Typical panels these days are about 450watts each, and they'll cost WAY less than the Bluetti ones too, probably 1/6th of the cost!

I use RQST panels and they work great. They use the MC4 connectors for a quick but secure connection. I’m not sure for your location but where I live we point the panels to the South and tilt them at about 33 degrees for the best sun.
I power my whole finished basement and shop lights with just 3 of them and way less battery capacity than you have.

It's not easy to install a solar system all by yourself. Luckily, my husband is an electrician like Josh from Wild Wonderful Off Grid. You did a great job Jason! I've been following you since your tent days. You are truly a doer!
A solar array was the first thing we set up here on our rural property in an unfinished cottage. We had the right thought that it was going to be very expensive because of the world economy and inflation. More and more people are buying it to become more independent. The situation in the EU and the energy crisis, which is talked about since the boycott, can get worse.

Do they run solar just to power some fans for animals? Remember they have no electric from the power company. Myself i wouldn't do the expense of solar for fans on animals. Most farm animals do fine in the high heat as long as they get enough water.

Glad to see you finally coming around to the solar way of thinking. You really never had anything good to say about solar and I was blown away when you lived on the hillside and never set up any kind of solar. It's getting cheaper and technology is getting better. Yes, the Bluetti, Jackery, Anker and other systems are very expensive because they are all in one units, just add your panels. You can get enough panels, a pure sine inverter, say a 3500 or 5000 watt and have enough power for the studio, and but the same system on your tiny house. Batteries will be the most expensive part. I know of a hack where you can get batteries that'll last 10 years or so for cheaper, it just takes about 2 months to get them since they're coming from China. I'd imagine for $3000 you can have all the power, solar and battery bank you'd need to run the studio with everything you'll need. That's including a solar charge controller and starting from scratch buying all your components. Now compare that to buying 1 of the Bluetti systems now that you now how much those cost. Bluetti, Jackery, Anker etc are all good for having around in an emergency or travel to the lake or the beach you have it all in one unit, but it's much cheaper to build your own system from scratch. I wouldn't be spending $10,000 to get ugly power poles and lines ran to my property just to have an electric bill every month and then when a storm comes through, you need a back up power plan anyway because being rural, when you lose power, the co-ops are more interested in getting the bigger populated cities up and running first and you rural people wait the longest. With a solar system, you'll never lose power and those city folk are now at a disadvantage while you're still chillin' in the power after the storm. BTW, the AC will be the most power usage will the most power consumption. So build your system to be big enough to run your mini split or a 10,000 BTU window unit to keep the studio cool and you should be golden.

  • @dper1112
    @dper1112 Рік тому +1

All of your appliances say the wattage on the back. If you're wondering about a microwave or toaster oven, just read the sticker on it. As for window AC units, let's suppose yours uses 1000W. It could be 1200W, whatever. Just make sure that your solar panels are higher wattage in total, so that you can cool the house and charge your batteries at the same time. Finally, keep your solar panel wires as short as possible. DC wiring has significant transmission loss over distance, so shorter thicker cables are much better than longer thinner ones.

Each line of the solar input can handle up to 150 volts. So you should hook up the 3 panels in series to one of the solar inputs and get another 3 panels in series to the other solar input. Then you should have about 2000 watts or more of solar coming in.

  • @shuper2010

Also, look at San Tan Solar out of the Phoenix area. They sell used panels at very low prices. This allows you to create very large solar arrays at a low cost. This gives you redundancy and Solar array backup. You can place them on frames on the ground.
Also look at Missouri Wind and Solar for wind production of electricity. This gives you possible electrical production at night or on cloudy days.
The Will Prouse suggestion was an excellent idea,

It looks cool, just to many cords , I know once it is hooked up right the cords won’t be there. I hope it works out for y’all

Hey, here’s a video about solar panels. But let me rabbit hole for a second and talk about how much I love creamer in my coffee.

I need to talk to my wife about this. We're trying to figure out "dummy proof solar" for our shed to home. This looks even better than the Jackery's.

I am using Bluetti solar generators in my shed and house. Totally fool proof.

That's the brand I plan on buying. In Northern Michigan. Adding a propane gen to compensate on cloudy days to aid recharge and harsh winters.. not goingvto pay utility companys out rages rising rates the rest of my life

Lay the panels flat when the sun is directly above for more juice collection.

Solar power will only go more mainstream the easier it is to install. People like convenience and simplicity. We all want clean energy as it protects against grid power failure and potential grid power collapse. Companies like Bluetti, Jackery and Projectsolar are closing the gap in affordability and easy to install kits. Plug-and-play is the future of clean energy
