Affinity is a strange category, as so many of the cards that made the archetype legendary don't actually have the mechanic. If you're like me, when you hear "affinity", you immediately think of Arcbound Ravager, Cranial Plating, Mox Opal, and Inkmoth Nexus (Glad you mentioned those first two, by the way). Probably with Ornithopter, Memnite, and Springleaf Drum to get the party started. Yet not one of those seven cards actually has affinity. It would be like if Esper Legends somehow morphed into a deck that didn't play any legendary creatures.
I have always loved Affinity! I played the hell out of Affinity when it was in Standard! I especially loved it with Skullclamp! Ohhhh… those were the days!
As an 8Cast player, by best turn 1 was: Memnite, Ornothopter, Darksteel Citadel, Springleif drum, Frogmite, Ornothpter, Thought Cast, Memnite, and a Mire Enforcer. I was playing against infect.
I ran furnace dragon in mantle affinity. Mirror people would freak out at the dragon and make mistakes, the glimmervoid survived and you usually dropped a land and tried to keep some heat for the after party.
I have no idea why I'm so late for this video. Probably involved catching a train and preparing my meticulous plan to get "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)". Or it might just be because UA-cam ReVanced doesn't send notifications.
Never thought of "X of Chiss-Goria" to ever show up! Wow What about a series of "enablers"? Like Spring-lrafnDrum, Ornithopter and Cranial Plating for affinity, or Hardened Scales for indirectly place +1/+1 counters
Furnace Dragon is great for treasure decks. You can cast it with just 4 tresures and a land or 5 tresures and leave 1 mana floating. I'm surprised it's not use more with so many treasure around.
Treasure is sure an interesting way around the Furnace Dragon's properties. If I'm not mistaken you get to announce the spell setting its cost cost before you then sac all of that treasure to get the mana you need to cast it. It's not like the tokens were sticking around anyway. Of course the Furnace Dragon isn't legal in the more current formats so would that combo even be functional in Modern or Vintage?
Does your "affinity for X" also happen to include the various cards that are not written that way? That would expand your card pool considerably and is something you've done for many other mechanics over the lists. Calling up Scryfall I'm thinking things like: Emry, Lurker of the Lock; OBsidian Charmaw, Embercleave, and Layline Binding to name a few.

I got into Magic, originally, in Mirrodin Block (Darksteel), and I long hoped that we would eventually go back there, knowing that we wouldn't (until recently) because of how broken Mirrodin was. As a big Artifacts fan, I do really like Affinity; I'm not a big Green player, so something that can sort of help my Blue, Azorious, or Dimir stuff feel like ramp is great!
the banning of Sojourner's Companion in Pauper inspired me to build Affinity in Modern, and i've been pretty comfortable with the deck's play patterns ever since. the deck did take a relatively large hit with the most recent Modern banlist, since Beans Affinity was definitely the best way to play the deck, but i've adapted and i'm currently on a Jeskai build, since neither Temur nor Bant is viable without Beans. Dispatch is basically a better Path to Exile and Galvanic Blast is better than Lightning Bolt

If she hasn’t gained any points since then, that would put her at #2.
6 treasures in play (not hard on turn 3) goes to cast furnace dragon, sacs emergence zone with 1 treasure, flashes in a 2 cost non artifact creature or casts a a 2 mana sorcery, puts 5/5 flier in play, destorys all opponents artifacts.. doesn't see play for almost 20 years? weird. seems like a dcent card for mono red treasures...or even izzet treasure. At least should be sideboarded.
affinity for roiling vortex better effect is the card that makes it so you can pay 1 Red for all spells you cast this turn, or the artifact that lets you use UBRWG to pay for all spells instead of their mana cost. if If you're going to play a 0 cost deck than you should have an answer for roiling vortex cuz it will destroy you.
This list is the perfect exampl of why affinity is just inherently broken. Non of the card have great effects or intresting ablilities. It is just that affinity lets you play things way of rate and dump an impossible boardstate down in the early turns and win of that.

In Episode 607 (made 5 months ago) she had 60 points which would make her #2 on this list.

In mirrodin block there were already afinity for other type than artifact ;) (there were a cycle of golem that had affinity for each type of land)
I play Thought Monitor and Thoughtcast in my Numot Land Destruction deck, since I play all three of the indestructible dual artifact lands in Jeskai.
