Act 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

This is a great explanation. I honest was waiting for him to slip up in one of his explanations but it hasn't happened. I hate the tongue talking culture in our churches that proves one to the other they are saved. It's foolishness and Pastor Jennings broke this thing down in a lovely manner.

Speaking in tongues is NOT GIBBERISH. Tongues are languages; real languages.

Here is the secret that the "learned" men "of God" do not know. And because they do not know, they cannot tell their congregations. But I will tell you. The language (for that is what γλῶσσα (glóssa) - "tongue" means. The language spoken by Peter and the Apostles (on the day of Pentecost) was Koine Greek and not the pure holy language of Hebrew. The people who came to Jerusalem that day were expecting to hear the word of God spoken in the pure Hebrew language. But instead, they heard the Apostles speaking in their own native language. The native language of all those countries listed was Koine Greek. Study Middle East history and how Koine Greek was spread throughout that part of the world due to the conquests of Alexander the Great. The reason the Apostles were accused of drinking (or being drunk) wine was because on this religious high holy day, the teachers would have been speaking God's language (the people assumed Hebrew was God's language) and not the everyday common "tongue" (language) of the people. However, what better way to communicate God's message (the gospel of Jesus Christ) than by sharing that beautiful Gospel (good news) in the very same COMMON "tongue" (language) that the people could UNDERSTAND and SPEAK themselves!
chriscb Exactly! Good job. Many people think that tongues are gibberish language, not to be understood by anyone. It is sad how they deceive themselves and LIE to others about the Holy Spirit "speaking" through them. It is blasphemy

Jeffery Smith His manner of expression in respect to how he conveys this particular messenge shouldn't really matter much. Because when the Messiah was provoked by those RELIGIOUS Phariseeic leaders who strongly operated behind the scenes based on their own doctrinal perspectives where SELF RIGOROUSness had such major roots according to their standard practice of their day as clearly depicted in today's translations he too didn't always appear so loving either however quite seemingly ticked off even to an extent of openly putting them too on public BLAST. So wouldn't it then suffice to recognize that the TRUTH be spoken and as long as the brother is not communicating his messege out of spite and is merely emphasizing the actual TRUTH without deviating from what's at our disposal via translation for our learning that we who believe and understand him endorse his cause as well?

I would recommend the book by don basham "Baptism in the Holy Spirit." The sad truth is the pastor has never been baptised in the Holy Spirit making himself unqualified to teach on this subject. This practice of reading aloud to make yourself sound important does not make what you say more effective. These guys have an erroneous teaching and a lack of Biblical knowledge.
i was reading JOHN 1 3x the Holy Spirit interrupted the reading and said to me ask her to pray she said no twice before ,she was diagnosed with Breast cancer the 3rd time the demon came out of her voice and said noooo. The demon didnt like that tongue aka word of GOD.Then surprised I fought/spoke in tongues and Binded the devil,she tried to run and couldn't, trapped I naturally spoke in tongues and the spirit pinned the lady so she could't move and exposed what was hiding behind the name cancer.TONGUES WORKS.TRUST ME I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT.
I do understand one day i went to visit a church when i got there there all were in worship mode there were speaking in tongues. So i started interceeding quietly in my mind saying Father these people are trying to hear from you and i placed myself in Gods Heavenly santuary then when every one stopped speaking in tongues thats when the spirit of God came over me i began to speak in tongues and when i finished i began to say outloud plainly that Father the people want to hear from you ! And. a few other things that were spoken for. from me that gave interpretation.
Remember satan himself can appear as a angel of light, deceiving many !!!
Its so sad to see people in their feelings because we've been TAUGHT to speak in babbling jibberish all our lives then when the *TRUTH* comes out they get mad. Instead is accepting the fact we've been lied to our whole lives and God WORD is true! This proves the TRUTH is NOT for everybody. Christ is the truth and HE said John 10:27 "My sheep hear my voice and I KNOW THEM and THEY follow me." Let that pride go saints! Receive the TRUTH!
I don't like this guy for attacking other preachers without the spirit of God ( knowledge puffs up but love edifies)......but I have to say that I agree with with him on this one (you can't say that I command you to speak in tongues in three minutes, doesn't work like that).

What I would like to see, is any one in this church including the preacher speak in tongues in order to convey anything to anyone in their known language. This is not the purpose of the gift of tongues, that is why there is a gift of interpretation of tongues so that the UNKNOWN language spoken can be relayed to the audience through the gift of INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES.
I commend the man for his zeal, now he needs knowledge and training of how to flow in the Spirit to fulfill whatever ministry God has called him into.
These people know of the scripture. But the spirit. My question if you know so why are you wasting time debating. There are soul sitting under you that need to be saved. What are trying to prove. It's God that corrects us.

It's always those who do not operate in this gift that attempt to be an authority on it. First you must learn the difference between praying in tongues which is for personal benefit, and the GIFT of tongues which is for corporate benefit, then after that you can learn about the GIFT of interpretation if tongues.
If he wants to get educated on the topic I would suggest He seek God concerning the operation and manifestation of the GIFT and the prayer language so he can get an experience of what he is misrepresenting.

He's spot on except for condemning women preachers. There is not one scripture in the Bible that says a woman can't preach.

I don't think the writer is talking about people speaking in their native tongue, I believe she's talking about the churches that are just muttering babel, making noise but not a language...babel!
It said upon all flesh, it said son's and daughter's will prophesy, but he is looking over the word daughter's as he explains. Why? So, are you saying GOD only speaks to men and GOD don't have a relationship with women are speak to women to interpret His Word. Did Jesus say that, the Comforter, Who is the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit will teach us all things, but not the daughter's. Just want to be taught and received the right way and truth. John 14:26. This was extremely interesting to me. Pastor Jennings really broke down speaking in tongue where I personally could understand. So that leads me to yrs ago my church choir in Dallas was invited to sing at this holiness church in Oklahoma. When my choir sung a few songs the church was really quiet but when their choir sung not only were the adults up jumping around speaking some words I couldn't understand but so were the little children imitating the adults. I was so darn scared I felt like I was among demon possessed people. So after the service the church fed us dinner so I asked one of the women that stood next to me when she was speaking in tongue, what did God reveal to her and she told me that when u speak in tongue its God talking to u BUT u are NOT supposed to understand what He says. I'm like what sense does that make. I asked her now why would God talk to anyone and not give them understanding? If God is telling u something ur not supposed to understand!!!! What sense does that make? I told her God talks to me all the time she said that's not possible bcuz in order for God to speak to u, u have to speak in tongue!!! Now mind u all of the ppl were yelling the same words but none of them could interpret what God was saying to them. Whatever their pastor said to do they did it. That whole church was nothing but a lie. And they sure didn't have a problem with asking for all ur money. They call it a donation, I call it theft. They would count the money and then say " ok we have $1500 dollars can we make it an even $2000, and so on". And thur all that I can't recall ever learning anything from the scriptures, not one thing.

HE GOT 98% CORRECT. JUST LIKE MOST OF US ON MANY TOPICS IN THE BIBLE ( 2ND COMING, ROLE OF ISRAEL ETC...) So, lets just praise God that we are moved to preach by the Holy Spirit. We are all still learning. There are a lot of things this brother can stop doing (preaching style), but once again, lets not focus on that. 1. He is correct, speaking in tongues is not babbling, it is another human language speaking things of God that the non believers can not understand. 2. IT IS WRONG to speak in tongues without an interpreter. 3. He is incorrect about it being THE sign of receiving the Holy Spirit. - the Emphasis was placed on the wrong thing when he spoke about the House of Cornelius..- The emphasis is not the tongues(because these men were not Jews), it was the MAGNIFICATION OF GOD from GENTILES ... this is what they thought they would never see! ... Everything else he said was correct. I wrote a whole paper on this and I covered a lot more, including tower of babel, jubilee year and more, but he added something I did not pick up on and I'm thankful for: The Daniel translation...I will be adding that to my revised version of the letter. I pray we all speak with church leaders to get this babbling sensual spirit out of the church. God's grace be with you all.
If tongues is a gift, and God chooses not to give you that particular gift,... how do you reconcile it with have a genuine repentant heart and the required faith in Christ for salvation? Are you still damned because you didn't speak a different language (spiritual or natural)? OF COURSER NOT!! This pastor is an amazing , prepared and gifted speaker. I agreed with 99% of everything he said but too much importance is put on tongues and not .........................................................THE CROSS!!!!!

When question is ask about the bible you answer with the bible why? Because in 2 Timothy 3 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
You correct with God’s word because this are spiritual things not men stuff. Brother I reject the def. of some book that deal with natural understanding but you reject the definition of speaking in other tongue from GOD’s word which is spiritual. Brother I had witness people been free of heroin in one day when they got filled with the Holy Ghost with the evident speaking in other tongues without no withdraws. Why because 2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. The devil doesn’t free people from drugs only our LORD JESUS. Today I am a witness I was addicted to pornography, fornication, adultery and the LORD made me free when I received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongue. I had been free for 14 years my brother to the Glory of God. The Lord saved my marriage now I had been married for 22 years and two sons to the Glory of God. It is the power of the Holy Ghost that gives men the power to say not to sin and the power to obey God’s word.

Jesus says in Matthew 7: 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
These are believers of Jesus they had faith to preach, to cast demons and they did great things in his name but was not enough they were work of iniquity. That is why God’s says in James 1: 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but A DOER of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. AMEN.

Can you please explain what does it mean to be filled with the Holy Ghost as Paul in Ephesians 5.18 commands us to do so? how can one be filled with the Holy Ghost Is it the same as speaking in tongues all over again or having a breakthrough as some teach??

So I got a question he read when peter was preaching the holy ghost came over them and then after they got baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, so to receive the holy ghost does it come even befor baptism? or do you have to get baptized first and then he will come?
I love this man teaching but I disagree with him concerning this topic. Speaking in tongue is not the only gift of the spirit and it is not the only evidence to prove that the holy spirit has come upon you. When Jesus christ was baptized and the holy spirit came upon him the is no record of him speaking in tongue. Every office have it own gift. The Bible said not everyone is an apostles or prophet or evangelist. The holy spirit give us different gift as it wishes (1corith12vs1-11$29-31).
If you say if a Christian who don't speak in tongue don't have the spirit of God which I know is not true why don't you operate in the all the gifts of the spirits because speaking in tongue is just one of the gift of the spirit.
Denis Atem im agree with you about this topic and about he has some good preaching. But about the holy spirit not. When Jesus Christ got baptized and receive the holy spirit that was a symbol and a teaching of how we should do. It was an example for us to to follow. He did not had to receive the holy spirit, it was in him .and speaking in tongues it is the sign that you received the holy spirit. Then there is a gift of speaking in tongues and tongues interpretation. Is 9 of them read the bible.

Demi's, there is the GIFT of tongues which us used in corporate worship, then there is the prayer language of tongues that ALL may have.
Many confuse the two because both are in an unknown language, if the disciples and the early church spoke in tongues then we also can speak in tongues.
Speaking in tongues Corporately in public you should have a interpreter. It’s not the only evident of speaking in tongues. It’s a gift. I know people that speak in tongues because it’s taught. They show no signs of holiness. In other words their big time sinners and eventually backslide.
Denis Atem Wrong, the prayer language IS NOT the gift of tongues and only the gift of tongues requires an interpreter but you would understand these things if you actually had any personal experience with speaking in tongues.
No scripture says thou must speak in tongues
moses wright speaking in tounges is A gift of the Holy Ghost. A gift. Single gift. For they are 7 gifts of the Holy Ghost. For LOVE is the greatest gift of the Holy Ghost.

1Corinthians 13:8 says that tongues would cease or come to an end .The whole purpose in the tongues or instant language in each nations tongue or language was to perpetuate the growth of the good news about the ransom salvation and repentance and to prove that salvation was extended to all nations .The fact that those 120 in the upper room who were Hebrew speaking Jews never spoke in other languages before a miracle ocured this was a miracle and proof that now salvation was extended to all the nations .all of those nations who heard about this good news in their own language in turn themselves became believers and started to spread the good new about their salvation. These tongues served a purpose at that time but as the scriptures shows would cease. The gifts that would remain are faith hope and love the greatest is love. One cannot twist this scripture just because they want to insists that tongues would still exsist today.

The only way tongues will cease is when the Spirit is no longer here. Tongues is a gift of the Holy Spirit. The verse you are referring to is just stressing the importance of love(charity). You can have all the spiritual gifts, but without love, they are nothing. Because in the next chapter (14). They go on to further explain tongues and prophecy, which would have been pointless is they were going to stop.

It's always bugged me when a preacher has his entourage read the Bible out loud for him. I'm a spiritual Christian (no sect) and any church that I've ever been to has never had a second hand man do the simple task of a reading out loud the scripture for a preacher.

Where is it written in the Bible that everyone who has received the holy spirit must speak in tongue. First of all speaking in tongue is the least beneficial gift of the spirit that edify only the one speaking not the whole church. Paul said if you are hungry for spiritual gifts go for those gifts that edify the whole church. The spirit of God gives people different gifts for the edification of the body of christ. This is a lie, the Bible teaches we receive the Holy Ghost by faith. There is no sign. What happened in the book of Acts was unique and not taught in the instructions given by the Apóstol Paul in any of his writings. The Bible clearly teaches they spoke in languages and not in an unknown tongue. The only way to be edified is when you understand what you hear. If your going to speak in an language that no one understands you must keep quite unless there are interpreters present in the church. We know that the word variable means more than one way. There is only one tongue of God and it is called the scriptures, the scriptures are the language of God. This language which we call tongue comes in every language in the form of scriptures that must be interpreted spiritually so that the hearer can understand. Just as in the book of Ezra 4:7, the letter was written in the Syrian tongue and interpreted in the Syrian tongue. The scriptures are unknown unto man until man becomes one with the scriptures, just as a man knows himself when he becomes what is written, he will know himself. The book of Acts states that every man heard the tongue wherein he was born, not that he heard a strange language. They heard the scriptures in their native language but could not understand the meaning of them, because they were not spiritually alert.
