Before put a baseplate wax, you do blockout on teeth.

I use a bottom night gaurd because when I use the top one I either lose it when I'm sleeping or wake up choking on it. The bottom one stays put

Exactly it seems to me it is a simple forming of hard acrylic which is just a standard occlusal splint.
I couldn't see any soft layer was inserted.
      Lol 😆

It is harder and even brittle when cold. A bit more flexible at mouth temperature. Run it under warm water before inserting.
The idea is its hard enough so you don't chew through it or cause damage to the opposing teeth.
But soft enough so it wont break and be comfortable. Its a good material but it will get cloudy and a bit yellow as time goes by.

I was also told to make sure the guard does not touch or cover your gums as it dames them and to cut the edges so it does not touch the gums. Yet as soon as I do that it no longer stays in my mouth and no longer fits. I keep buying these and cannot get it to stay in once I cut the top edges. But again I cannot have the top edges touch my gums so seriously how can this work?

Are there any videos of this acrylic being mixed on a larger scale? I keep getting bubbles whenever I mix my batches. We make like 100-150 guards daily and I tend to make big mixes. I’m having huge trouble with bubbles when mixing.

How often do you guys change your hydrocolloid material?

    • @KaneLono
      @KaneLono 3 роки тому

If you don't overheat it, It can be chopped and reused about 5-6 times.
Keep it in a sealed container. Don't let it dry out.

Have you had any breakages with the astron material? Is it like the proflex system ? I had a lot of breakages with Proflex and it seems to be the same kind of material.

Ther problem of soft night guards is that the soft material stimulate mulching like a chewing gum , also it gets easily destroyed.
    I can't sleep with a soft one

Vacume former night gaurds are easier to make. Are these for more severe dental issues? While the soft ones are just for grinding?

    • @KaneLono

Actually its not hard or soft. But calling it soft is wrong. Most professionals just call it an Astron night guard. (The manufacture).
It feels sorta like nylon. It has some flex unlike hard acrylic that will snap.
But its not real soft like a sports nightguard. Good for sports where your mainly protecting the front face of you teeth and inner mouth tissue. But not good for wearing at night because you will chew through it in no time.
