  • The is a foldable coroplast canoe. This material - coroplast, allows me to build a kayak weighs less than15 lbs. The design is based on my earlier Gen 15 Canoe and you can download the Gen 15 boat plan at www.DIYUSA.org.
The goal of this design is to fold the boat into a 5" x 2' x 4' size for storage. It is also designed to use a 4' wide coroplast. I have also experimented with different building techniques to create a better boat.
    Part 1: Intro.
Part 2: Design & build progress report. Also introduced the version 2 of this design.

Nice to hear from you! I want to be able to come up a boat that is simple to build, low cost, functional, looks nice, light, and very transportable. Therefore I decided to go thru all the boats I have designed and pick one to optimize / improve the design, making it close to the product in the market. I think this is the one. It is not really for performance, but for the beginners who just want to have fun in the water. I am working on the version 3. I have uploaded the water test video. Hope you will enjoy that. Cheers!😀

This is version 2, and I plan to further improve the design with version 3 and then provide the plan and build information. You can watch the water test video Part 3 to see what changes will be applied to version 3. I have been using very simple techniques in build this G15+ (no heat fusion). I think most people can build a basic boat that works in 10-12 hours (no painting, bow-stern cover/bra ). The biggest challenge is in get the coroplast. I and thinking of spending a weekend in late August to have a workshop helping people to build one of this. But you have to be in Portland Oregon. I do have a few sheets of coroplast that I can sell to people at cost (this is my hobby and I don't need to make any money) The material cost for the whole boat should be less than $100. Cheers!

I have released the water test video for version 2. It turned out pretty good. There are more improvements to be made on version 3. Unfortunately, this year I have health issue and I can't work on the boat till I have recovered. I hope to get that version 3 done in Aug. Please stay tuned. Thanks for watching and your feedback!
