Okay but “No, Bob, you’re priceless.” Somehow hit a note (no pun intended) that no other Christmas Carol adaptation has hit. A moment that’s not just about supporting Tim, but letting Bob know that he’s worth more than Scrooge has treated him.
I agree. Every adaptation has always been about Scrooge trying to help Tiny Tim but I like that in this one Scrooge acknowledges how badly he's treated Bob and wants to treat him better
I fully tear up every time I get to that part. For Scrooge to realize the value of the people around him, especially Bob who's been incredibly loyal even when not around Scrooge, is just so touching!
Everytime i rewatch the part where Fred accepts Scrooge's apology, like with no hesitation, it makes me tear up, this man truly loves his uncle and just wants to spend Christmas with him.

i think this is the most straight i've ever seen a starkid musical been played in my entire life. basically no jokes or parody elements, just a straightforward retelling of a christmas carol with a really solid framing device. it's honestly really unexpected, and a nice change of pace for the studio
Probably just a product of them singing the entire time. There were a few pretty funny scenes but there was no space for the audience to laugh because the next line came immediately after.

About a week ago, I sent this video to my dad. He said that this is one of the most faithful adaptations, with and i quote "catchy songs that even a guy who doesn't like musicals can stand".
Guys I'm actually so emotional from this because it truly is an excellent adaption of Dickens' work. During the ghost of Christmas past sequence, we see how his father was cruel, Christmas was lonely for him and his sister died young. His past trauma makes him hate Christmas and when he sees Fred it reminds him of his sister! In pushing Fred away, he misses out on the chance to have love in his life again and still have a connection with his sister even though she's gone. Anyways, Dylan really sells Scrooge journey and the emotion of revisiting these painful events and Clark's writing really does the book justice.
Yes!! Some would call it a parody and it’s certainly very funny at times, but it really does honor the story so well and it has so much heart. It’s my favorite version of a Christmas carol and one of my favorite starkid shows!

Ok so I know that I'm watching this in the middle of March but I can't stop watching this. This feels so mature and sincere and it's surreal to see everyone here progress from college musical parodies to something that's just fun and cheesy and genuine. Idk how to explain it but I love it. This was all clearly done out of love and passion for their craft, and I can't get enough of it.
It's okay I'm here end of April and I've been going through bouts of hyperfixating on this musical on and off since it came out lmao 😂 (I mean heavy hyperfixation like on replay all day lol)
A Christmas Carol is my ultimate favorite holiday story, and Starkid knocked it out of the park with this retro 80's rendition musical! I actually teared up a few times during some of the songs, it's so good! Edit: I gotta add, the entire section of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is my absolute favorite, right next to the intro song!
I impulsively saw this live at Reggie's in Chicago, like literally heard about it the night before and decided to get a ticket and go alone sight unseen, last year and it honestly was so the exact thing I needed. I really really love this show and keep coming back to it bc it is both fun and genuinely sincere. Merry Christmas to everyone who has been watching it again this year.
I have followed starkid for years and I have to say this has some of the best music they've ever made. I wasn't in the holliday spirit when the soundtrack first came out so this was the first I had heard but omg it's inspired. They crushed it.

After listening to the album for the last year straight, it is a delight to have a video to the songs again. I can't express well enough how much I love this, the songs and the performances. Everyone did an excellent job, but Meredith as Jacob Marley is probably my favorite here (if I had to decide)
i literally watch this all the time, even if it’s not Christmas time, just an awesome adaptation of my favorite Christmas story and the songs hit different 💕💕
as an avid fan of a christmas carol (both the book and the muppets version), this is one of the best adaptations i've seen! it captures the beats and themes of the book in an incredible way, especially with an extra focus on the relationship between bob and scrooge! so many adaptations neglect that relationship, instead focusing on scrooge and tiny tim, but one of the most important aspects of the story is that scrooge realizes the value of the worker, not just as a necessity to make money, but as an individual. such good stuff
The perfect return to the stage for Starkid. You just feel the joyous energy behind doing live theater again- and yes, electric really is the word to sum it up. It's surprisingly reverential to the classic, playing it straight while letting the style speak for itself. This immersive sung-through experience truly gives you the feeling of being taken away by otherworldly spirits, who just so happen to know some rocking tunes.
Did anyone else come here after realizing they took the other release down? I was ready to see Jim and Della just to realize that they meant it when they said "Limited Time" 😭
I was planning on watching the newer version with my sister later this week, so having it taken down is a huge bummer. I hope they put it back up at some point in the future

Meek, Family man, Joey is something I never knew I needed, but oh my god he's just adorable.
And yes, Sergio, but that's a different story.
what a surprisingly family friendly show from starkid (outside of some cursing)
also this is a genuinely great adaptation of a christmas carol!? absolutely amazing i love it
AN AJ HOLMES APPEARANCE???? I have been graced with this moment
That’s me in the Santa hat in the front row! Still can’t believe I got to witness this in person, INCREDIBLE all of you!
🤣I kept seeing you in the Santa hat sitting front row each time the camera turned. I kept thinking oh look someone has on a Santa hat!
I've never really been a christmas guy and didn't really get A Christman Carol, and it might be the power of musical storytelling because this version really got me. Might have been the most emotional 45 minutes of my life right here
How could not be a fan of A Christmas Carol?
absolutely same here, CC specials always got an eye roll from me cause it felt like such a simple and oversaturated structure, but this is the first ive ever truly enjoyed and will return to a million times
*insert Frank/Danny Devito's "I get it now..." from IASIP* 🥲
Soy ese I almost felt the christmas spirit for a while there
“ I forgot how much I miss her “. Yea. That one broke me a bit
The digital ticket was fantastic, and I am so glad it is now publicly available!
Merry Christmas to everyone who has been watching it again this year.
ok but can we acknowledge how loyal this stayed to the original text? It's amazing!
Glad to see Clark back on the ivories
my favorite parts : 0:00 - 44:59
WHATT? You don’t like the last second?? How dare you say that out loud?!
@@japunaka only cuz it meant that was the end 😭
I have followed starkid for years and I have to say this has some of the best music they've ever made. I wasn't in the holliday spirit when the soundtrack first came out so this was the first I had heard but omg it's inspired. They crushed it.
I love Dylan's voice so much!!! it just hits something in my 🧠
so happy he's involved with starkid again!
can we also talk about Joey in THAT 80S OUTFIT???? with long hair too
gender envyyy
Joey Richter in the back of Fred’s party wearing a ponytail 😍
i can't stop vibing to I'm the Ghost of Christmas Past!
the 80s synth-pop really suits Jamie Lyn very well. tho im struggling to find more songs that share the same vibe with 'im the ghost of christmas past'
I have never had a hyperfixation grip me so thoroughly, i’m as in love with this musical as Meredith, and i can’t stop thanking y’all for this, especially clark!!
literally same bro it caught me so off guard, i’ve been watching and rewatching all day ever since it came out
@@kylia6844 i couldn’t even tell you how many times i’ve rewatched it now, because I regularly switch to spotify to just listen to the album, it’s been such a fun time
@@rosemassey4488 yes it’s so great!! clark and everyone really knocked it out the park fr
ill be real with you, this has evolved from a hyperfixation to a special interest to me
I missed seeing Brian Rosenthal in StarKid things- I’m so glad he’s back!!
How does this not even have 500k views yet? This music is so good
Its a crime that this is still true
This is mighty impressive. The weaving of classic VHS archetypes with the CC story is ingenius. And of course having fun with all my favorite cast members
20:22 - Don't mind me, just bookmarking the start of Christmas Electricity so I can play Starkid Just Dance with James Tolbert as my instructor. That dance is *such* a fun workout!
second time watching, i had the thought he'd be an amazing just dance coach lol
All the songs are incredible but I forgot how much I loved 'That Scrooge'
i love how Brian Rosenthal is basically cosplaying Corey Lubowich
I don’t even like Christmas and I love this. I watched Marley’s part like five times and so glad to see Jamie Burns, loved her voice as Chorn, and Brian!! And Janaya was amazing
I was literally talking yesterday about how excited I was about it and when I saw this I screamed and my sister immediately understood the reason why I screamed 😅
Thank you James Tolbert for the choreography I’ll never be the same
I’ve always loved Corey’s vocals, he’s so talented!
So much respect for Clark, he absolutely killed it!
as an avid fan of a christmas carol (both the book and the muppets version), this is one of the best adaptations i've seen! it captures the beats and themes of the book in an incredible way, especially with an extra focus on the relationship between bob and scrooge! so many adaptations neglect that relationship, instead focusing on scrooge and tiny tim, but one of the most important aspects of the story is that scrooge realizes the value of the worker, not just as a necessity to make money, but as an individual. such good stuff
So happy that this has been released to the public, so that many more people get to see this amazing production!
How does this only have 300k views? This is the best starkid show imo
Crying 😭😭 How did this manage to go under my radar for a whole year? I definitely will be watching this every Christmas along with Nightmare Before 😭
Lol I just watched tnbc and now I'm watching this; same brain
Did anyone else come here after realizing they took the other release down? I was ready to see Jim and Della just to realize that they meant it when they said "Limited Time" 😭
I was planning on watching the newer version with my sister later this week, so having it taken down is a huge bummer. I hope they put it back up at some point in the future
I’m glad to see so many of you all together again. Without you there would be many more Scrooges in the world.
It's like seeing my old friends again! My heart is full of joy!
Clark, if you happen to read this, I hope you know I've literally watched this 20 times in the past 5 days. This show is AMAZING, I can't stop watching. I keep clicking that repeat button, congratulations on writing this awesome show!!
I just saw VHS Christmas CarolS live and it was incredible!!!!!! I'm so impressed with everyone involved and the new stories and songs were truly amazing!
god bless clark baxtresser our musical daddy
Knocked it out the park with the music. Excellent choreography. The narration by Clark is so good. The lyrics were so creatively rhymed. Forgot something. The performances were stellar. Thank you very much.
Phenomenal. 5 minutes in and I'm riveted. The writing and acting are Broadway worthy, no doubt.
cant believe i discovered this 10 months after it was released but hey at least i've got some new christmas songs to play! christmas electricity! 🕺🏽
