I agree. Every adaptation has always been about Scrooge trying to help Tiny Tim but I like that in this one Scrooge acknowledges how badly he's treated Bob and wants to treat him better
I fully tear up every time I get to that part. For Scrooge to realize the value of the people around him, especially Bob who's been incredibly loyal even when not around Scrooge, is just so touching!
I've missed all these people so much. It feels like forever that all the older cast have been together and now with newer cast too. I love Meredith and Brian so much.
i think this is the most straight i've ever seen a starkid musical been played in my entire life. basically no jokes or parody elements, just a straightforward retelling of a christmas carol with a really solid framing device. it's honestly really unexpected, and a nice change of pace for the studio

About a week ago, I sent this video to my dad. He said that this is one of the most faithful adaptations, with and i quote "catchy songs that even a guy who doesn't like musicals can stand".
So upset that this isn't more popular in the Starkid fandom! There's SO much talent and this is by far my favorite soundtrack of any of the musicals. And I LOVE Starkid soundtracks!

Guys I'm actually so emotional from this because it truly is an excellent adaption of Dickens' work. During the ghost of Christmas past sequence, we see how his father was cruel, Christmas was lonely for him and his sister died young. His past trauma makes him hate Christmas and when he sees Fred it reminds him of his sister! In pushing Fred away, he misses out on the chance to have love in his life again and still have a connection with his sister even though she's gone. Anyways, Dylan really sells Scrooge journey and the emotion of revisiting these painful events and Clark's writing really does the book justice.
Yes!! Some would call it a parody and it’s certainly very funny at times, but it really does honor the story so well and it has so much heart. It’s my favorite version of a Christmas carol and one of my favorite starkid shows!

When I heard the christmas spirit of the future I immediatley knew it was Jamie burns from firebringer, that voice is unforgettable and am in love with it again. All the Christmas spirit songs are such jams ugh, and I still intensively love Dylan Sanders voice, so so good EDIT: Also I looove the use of electrical with scrooge's story, so unique and the songs are delicious
I just realized that when Scrooge asks, "What is this electricity?" he's probably doubly confused since he comes from the Victorian era, electric power was in its infancy at the end of that era, and most houses were still lit with gas lamps XD

I impulsively saw this live at Reggie's in Chicago, like literally heard about it the night before and decided to get a ticket and go alone sight unseen, last year and it honestly was so the exact thing I needed. A Christmas Carol is my ultimate favorite holiday story, and Starkid knocked it out of the park with this retro 80's rendition musical! I actually teared up a few times during some of the songs, it's so good! Edit: I gotta add, the entire section of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is my absolute favorite, right next to the intro song!

Ok so I know that I'm watching this in the middle of March but I can't stop watching this. This feels so mature and sincere and it's surreal to see everyone here progress from college musical parodies to something that's just fun and cheesy and genuine. Idk how to explain it but I love it. This was all clearly done out of love and passion for their craft, and I can't get enough of it.

I have followed starkid for years and I have to say this has some of the best music they've ever made. I wasn't in the holliday spirit when the soundtrack first came out so this was the first I had heard but omg it's inspired. They crushed it.

as an avid fan of a christmas carol (both the book and the muppets version), this is one of the best adaptations i've seen! it captures the beats and themes of the book in an incredible way, especially with an extra focus on the relationship between bob and scrooge! so many adaptations neglect that relationship, instead focusing on scrooge and tiny tim, but one of the most important aspects of the story is that scrooge realizes the value of the worker, not just as a necessity to make money, but as an individual. such good stuff

After listening to the album for the last year straight, it is a delight to have a video to the songs again. I can't express well enough how much I love this, the songs and the performances. Everyone did an excellent job, but Meredith as Jacob Marley is probably my favorite here (if I had to decide)

The perfect return to the stage for Starkid. You just feel the joyous energy behind doing live theater again- and yes, electric really is the word to sum it up. It's surprisingly reverential to the classic, playing it straight while letting the style speak for itself. This immersive sung-through experience truly gives you the feeling of being taken away by otherworldly spirits, who just so happen to know some rocking tunes.

When I heard the christmas spirit of the future I immediatley knew it was Jamie burns from firebringer, that voice is unforgettable and am in love with it again. All the Christmas spirit songs are such jams ugh, and I still intensively love Dylan Sanders voice, so so good

I just realized that when Scrooge asks, "What is this electricity?" he's probably doubly confused since he comes from the Victorian era, electric power was in its infancy at the end of that era, and most houses were still lit with gas lamps XD

This really gives me _Great Comet of 1812_ vibes, the sung-through style, the way the actions and thoughts are sung and the dialogue turned into lyrics. It’s also just really good!

I've never really been a christmas guy and didn't really get A Christman Carol, and it might be the power of musical storytelling because this version really got me. Might have been the most emotional 45 minutes of my life right here

absolutely same here, CC specials always got an eye roll from me cause it felt like such a simple and oversaturated structure, but this is the first ive ever truly enjoyed and will return to a million times

I impulsively saw this live at Reggie's in Chicago, like literally heard about it the night before and decided to get a ticket and go alone sight unseen, last year and it honestly was so the exact thing I needed. I really really love this show and keep coming back to it bc it is both fun and genuinely sincere. Merry Christmas to everyone who has been watching it again this year.

A Christmas Carol is my ultimate favorite holiday story, and Starkid knocked it out of the park with this retro 80's rendition musical! I actually teared up a few times during some of the songs, it's so good!
Edit: I gotta add, the entire section of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is my absolute favorite, right next to the intro song!

Ok so I know that I'm watching this in the middle of March but I can't stop watching this. This feels so mature and sincere and it's surreal to see everyone here progress from college musical parodies to something that's just fun and cheesy and genuine. Idk how to explain it but I love it. This was all clearly done out of love and passion for their craft, and I can't get enough of it.

This is mighty impressive. The weaving of classic VHS archetypes with the CC story is ingenius. And of course having fun with all my favorite cast members
I have followed starkid for years and I have to say this has some of the best music they've ever made. I wasn't in the holliday spirit when the soundtrack first came out so this was the first I had heard but omg it's inspired. They crushed it.
As a non Christian I consume on average no christmas media, so I've never seen any version of a christmas carol, but MAN this was AWESOME!!
Also not a Christian, but we watch Christmas movies and specials all the time with my family and the insane amount of retellings of a Christmas Carol has made me annoyed anytime it shows up, but this was the only thing that had actually made me excited to see another retelling of the story because omg it’s AMAZING
I'd recommend the original, it's a good read! There's a reason it's lasted the better part of 200 years.

as an avid fan of a christmas carol (both the book and the muppets version), this is one of the best adaptations i've seen! it captures the beats and themes of the book in an incredible way, especially with an extra focus on the relationship between bob and scrooge! so many adaptations neglect that relationship, instead focusing on scrooge and tiny tim, but one of the most important aspects of the story is that scrooge realizes the value of the worker, not just as a necessity to make money, but as an individual. such good stuff

The perfect return to the stage for Starkid. You just feel the joyous energy behind doing live theater again- and yes, electric really is the word to sum it up. It's surprisingly reverential to the classic, playing it straight while letting the style speak for itself. This immersive sung-through experience truly gives you the feeling of being taken away by otherworldly spirits, who just so happen to know some rocking tunes.
Well hell i already watch "Black Friday" every black friday guess this is my Christmas now.
It's like seeing my old friends again! My heart is full of joy!
