While I like most EDM Deadmau5's music is on a whole different level. Listening to W:/2016 album right now. Such a clean, pure sound unlike anyone else I've came across.
Geeeee8 I'll like what I like and you can do the same. Firstly who da fuck are you to tell me or anyone else what to do and like? Secondly why even mention rap for? EDM isn't rap, but it has been cross pollinated with just about every genre under, the sun. And last if you hate EDM so much why the hell are you watching an EDM star get interviewed for?
The rap thing was a typo. Also deadmau5 has also made clear his hatred of "EDM" and that entire scene he's been assosiated with. There's a whole world of dance music outside of EDM, UK garage for instance. And don't feed me that "EDM just means all electronic dance music" shit because of what EDM stands for. DnB stands for Drum and Bass and yet the beatles aren't a DnB group.
Geeeee8 But Yea that's exactly what EDM means Electronic Dance Music. Just because someone says LOL means Love Old Ladies doesn't make it so. It's meant Laughing Out Loud since the earliest days of the Internet. Just because something like rock music has been associated with drugs for decades doesn't change what Rock music is.
Because he creates art from his thoughts and feelings and emotions based on where he is in his life and that resonates so much more with the 1% of people that are being true to themselves and not thinking surface level.
Wow, he only pulls in 14% from his tours because of expenses? I knew it would be a lot because of the effort that goes into the show production, but I didn't expect it to be so low. I'm not sure how many would sacrifice that much for their craft, hats off to Joel.
The Excelllence - Ear Bacon Network - $100 a ticket + 2500 person capacity on average = $250,000 a show. 14% = $35,000 a show MINIMUM. I know a tonne of artists who would 'sacrifice' the other 86% 'for their craft'.
Elijah Solomon alright. Now factor in travel, lodging, shipping of equipment, wages for workers helping, the cut that the venue takes from ticket sales, etc etc
@Elijah Solomon Are they at deadmau5's level though? Cuz chances are they're not. He could probably be making many millions more if he sold out a bit and just used the standard stage fx at festivals.
Im ready for new deadmau5! Been a fan since 2008. ☠🐭 i know it'll never happen but always wanted to see/ hear a collab between deadmau5 and celldweller. 😳👌 Peace everybody.
I totally wish for one of those “okay let’s work on this album” albums from Joel. He is a mastermind of production and can really let it hit. Even his softer tracks are still considered bangers in my book 🤙
Els Rulmyn lol his older music is accessible, u can find his oldest projects and stuff, everyone already know he's a master but now the whole world will know his work💟
I love how deadmau5 is very engaged about what he does and his life story. He understands the grind and is willing to share it with others instead of talking about his beliefs and trying to be a character for others to be inspired. To me he is very truthful and honest to himself. He understands that there are others better than him and accepting the fact that its life. He has this “you do you I do me” attitude where he shows you how he does stuff and thats pretty much it. He dosen’t sell us the idea of “this is what it takes to be a great edm producer.” I bet If I were to ask him how to be successful he would straight up tell me to stop being a bitch, get out there and explore.
Really nice thoughts, Joel! Love the attitude and different aspects. Could relate to so much of this, but also got some gems of thoughts out of it. :) Was nice hearing the talk about the relationship and commitment to making music.. totally on point with the marriage thoughts! Haven't really left the studio much the last 4 - 5 months, suppose it's the new underwear or something :P However, really nice hearing some thoughts surrounding this from elsewhere :) And really nice work on the studio. Would be nice visiting something like it one day :D
I hope I am early enough to tell you and you notice this. YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION. I love your music and what you do. I inspire to do what you do some day
Ryan McHenry Sorry to inform you, but Joel doesn't really give a shit about youtube comments. If you want him to notice you, go on Twitter. But you might get blocked so idk lol
Holy hell I wanna get to meet you one day, n go to one of your concerts, I love listening to your music like Professional Griefers, Some Chords, Let Go, I Remember, n more :)
ElektrHub two different artists would be like corey taylor and joel or cody jinks and joel. That would be an awkward mashup in music.. Hey never know, might be ok.
I commend Joel for delivering the best quality experience on the tours. I remember reading that Michael Jackson's Dangerous tour actually lost a ton of money cause the production value went through the roof haha.
As well as Ghost's N Stuff, Beneath With Me, n some of your albums as well, I know this may seem like I was just looking your songs up or whatever but I've been listening to your music ever since I first got into listening to dubstep, which was when I was around 16/17 years old, I love your music Joel, keep up the good work ^^ Hope you're cat is doing well as well XP
"right i think were guna call it a day there" joel: good haha, good interview, thinking disney were bringing your brand to a end must've been a scary time, good to see you got outta it. More coffee runs please!
No puedo esperar a escuchar sus nuevos trabajos, especialmente su colaboracion con rob swire, y no se bien pero creo que va sacar una canción con rezz0
Stephen S I know right!!! Out of this whole interview that is still the biggest thing I've heard. I mean Pete tong helped him get big if I remember with " faxing berlin'. People think it was ghost n stuff or "I remember" .. I think he played it on his BBC radio show. But-. I bet it was feed me and rezz and Matt Lange and those are just mustrap artist. Who knows who the others are cause he is so wide in other genres. There used to be a mix on UA-cam of him playing g on traktor playing a serious tech house set. ( Pleasurecraft etc...). Anyway. I hope one of us finds out. In sincerely interested.
Hey, I'm a friend of Tony's and we have an automotive channel just south of Hamiltion. We have access to the Dunnville Airstrip and a dozen cool cars (Macleran 650s, Aventador, LS Swapped 4 Turbo Audi Quattro...) If you ever want to take any of your cars out for a proper rip, hit us up and we will make it happen!
Deadmau5 is still one of my favorite producers. So talented
Yes indeed
he is probably the best producer of our time
Amen and same
He is a bit socially awkward tho
@Hardy Kenton what does that have to do with literally anything? lmao.
I love how he's trying to avoid f word as much as he can
Wyvern and still fails :D
So open, transparent and honest, this is why deadmau5 is loved by his fans and respected by industry and YES, still relevant as fuck
While I like most EDM Deadmau5's music is on a whole different level. Listening to W:/2016 album right now. Such a clean, pure sound unlike anyone else I've came across.
Anthony Goodley even that tracks that you may not like, going live they kinda make sense and flow like water
EDM is a world of bullshit. Abandon it, there's so much better outside that trap americanised scene of uncreative dickheads.
Geeeee8 I'll like what I like and you can do the same. Firstly who da fuck are you to tell me or anyone else what to do and like? Secondly why even mention rap for? How is it that whatever genre Joel makes, whatever new style he goes for, it always speaks to me.
AJskii talented artists music transcends the genre that it is placed in 😆
Because he creates art from his thoughts and feelings and emotions based on where he is in his life and that resonates so much more with the 1% of people that are being true to themselves and not thinking surface level.

Growler7 - It was already factored in. Joel said after all the expenses he gets 14%.
Eric Prydz would
@Elijah Solomon Are they at deadmau5's level though? Cuz chances are they're not. He could probably be making many millions more if he sold out a bit and just used the standard stage fx at festivals.
You run your projects like mine, Money in Money out, right back into production. well-spoken !

Els Rulmyn so what u meant bro?
how hard it is to listen to it
Joel the man with the million dollar studio talking to us with a 20 dollar mic lmao
Probably coz he's a DJ. Doesn't need a good mic
Stephen Ward Joel's a douche flute,but you're an idiot.That is NOT a $20 mic ya dummy .
D F I feel bad for him it its worth any more than that, sounds like shit
Joel isn't the one controlling the audio lol.
DQ Film5 he's most definitely controlling the input of it which plays just as an important part

deadmau5 is amazing

I love when two completely different artists with completely different music styles hang with each other..
ElektrHub two different artists would be like corey taylor and joel or cody jinks and joel. That would be an awkward mashup in music.. Hey never know, might be ok.
This was great to watch, Joel you're a champ!
I commend Joel for delivering the best quality experience on the tours. I remember reading that Michael Jackson's Dangerous tour actually lost a ton of money cause the production value went through the roof haha.

Fuck me. Had the chance to Q&A with Deadmau5 and there was two random questions and then no-one wanted to speak. Incredible.
The Fantasia re-score story is hilarious. Thanks for that :D
I can listen to him talk forever
Coffee run with rezz would be pretty cool
joel lit at 11am.
REZZ
Anyone else want to see a twitter roast battle between Joel and Wendy’s
Thanks for your example, master!

Someday Deadmau5
Great interview!

the Disney and lawyers part is the best thing ever :D
Very casual as usual

Big and early, fuck yeah
13:06 oh there's your coffee, dean
"You do music for the game ?"

You are so talented man (:3
Albums in two weeks? Dam so jealous right now 😬

jeon definitely weak questions

Is that a PUBG Pan on your hand.... EPIC!
This dude has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on audio equipment, but uses a dollar store webcam... I still love him though
