deadmau5 and the 5088

- deadmau5 is one of the world’s biggest electronic musicians, widely known for his mastery of the digital domain - but the physical and sonic center of his recording studio is a world-class analog mixing desk. Hear him talk about how his Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console fits into his workflow, straight from his home studio in Milton, Ontario.

I found a 6.578 Tb torrent
Just to cut those fuckin midtrebles down.
I could listen to this man talk about audio and music for hours
Proud to see the Rupert Neve Company and Team embracing the work of Deadmau5 as a sponsored video post.
Remember hearing him somewhere state that for him as an 'electronic producer' Companies like razer etc were his only sponsored collaborations as some real audio companies like 'neve' would never work down with him.
These deadmau5 electronic types are pushing new boundaries and keeping music rocking in a way driving the industry.
Old recording setups have stayed largely the same and its just nice to see some collaboration with making the audio gods advertised to the majority of new electronic composers. Good video, great people!

Now I want to see an hour long uncut version of this.
Rupert Neve is like the "Stan Lee" of great audio circuits.

Happy Birthday Rupert, thank you for all of the awesome recordings that your work has provided !!
I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS FOREVER! THANKS!!!
Joel’s studio is beautiful and that neve desk is heaven on Earth, I’m doing the pauper version on a cassette 4 track yielding similar results (less abrasive)
My school recording school has a Rupert console I believe. I'm glad that these tools are still purposeful in some instances in this era that almost everything seems digital.
Such a legend! Joel inspires me everyday in my music in addition to that, Rupert has left a insane legacy behind him - I want a RNDIS for my analogue synths! ❤️😊
Dude happy 92! Keep at it, your stuff is why DJs like Joel can be as good as they can.
Mr. Neve thank you for uploading this video. The design work just to make all those components (former 94E here) work at all is an immense task but to cause the countless pieces to function as a musical organ so to speak is a superpower. No Soda Cans! lol
100% with you on that textured route Joel... congrats for the Neve, i will keep an eye on your next works. Analog boards make mixing quite effortless so you can focus on musicality and just playing.
This guy's got my dream studio
Slick video. Beautiful console. RIP Rupert
Beautiful studio Joel!! Have a great 2021 and stay safe! -R1
Thank you for this video. One day I will have a Neve console to play with and call my own. Thank you Joel for sharing this video. It gives guys like me something to look up to.
I love Joel's work. it is truly inspiring and his persona embodies so much of internet culture, very relatable for a guy like me, born in 1994. I am hurt every time when I see his name slandered, bashed, defamed. People who want to destroy his career are so many, and especially cannot wait to profit writing bad articles about him, that's all they can do - find anything in him to point out and make it into a headline. I am sorry you lost your twitch audience, the last place I could interact with you (well, apart from instagram and reddit to some degree are left I guess). You were truly one of the first people to ever live stream on Ustream days. It was unheard of. Your rants were the best, your clips about things you talk - watched every day even today... And to see my favorite artist to fall down like that just hurts me. Especially knowing you have some personal problems of your own, apart from crappy internet world. I really wish you best @deadmau5 and please find a way to continue streaming and interacting with fans - you do that the best out of all artists ever. We'll miss your streams.
Damm dude i feel you.... 100% truth right there man. God i remember the Ustream days, those were the good times!!
I'm 100% with you! I've been following him for more than 10 years now, and that was him to make me discover and love the entire world of (not only electronic) music when I was just a child. His first tracks were absolute magic for my ears. Horde will always support you Joel, no matter what fucking bullshit anyone, magazines or not, is gonna spread the world! ;)

Happy Brithday Ruppert hope some day got some of your work to work! deadmau5 genius
Also the Rupert Neve Microphones done with sE Electronics sound so good.
Interesting, he said that in order to capture the true sound of the hardware synths, you really need analog. I went to his We Are Friends Tour, in Houston, and I can attest, his music has this electric feel that is powerfully conveyed in the music. It feels like electricity in the air, especially when the synth builds occur and he opens the filter to the drop. You can almost sense the analog circuit's magic in the air. That is what he is capturing.
I love hows hes got Cornelius Dammrach's render on his desktop background! Octane Render ftw!!
The baby neve. Ahhh. Lovely.
I also produce electronic music and I have a Rupert Neve Shelford Channel Strip which is like one strip of this console. I can not sum but I can track into my DAW using a fully analog Neve Pre-Amp, EQ and Compression signal path. I can confirm that it adds something unique (weight) to the production and it glues everything together in a very special Neve way. With the Shelford Channel I have now also discover a new way for me to record electronic music, using amps and microphones which wasn´t possible before, because I couldn´t get any usable signal out of a microphone. Now its all there. I love that its build like a military tank and will always be there. Thank you Rupert!
Now get another one for both recording stereo sources as well as summing out to/mixdown and you'll be golden!
Thank YOU, Stereofloat!
I'm in the same boat my friend! I bought 1 Shelford channel...... and it changed my life, and I know you know I'm not joking. There is NOTHING higher to go to.
STEREOFLOAT I been thinking about getting this channel strip.
@@eladreltuc I just bought mine a few weeks back and my vocal chain has reached Nirvana. My own vocals usually piss me off, but no joke, last tracking session I got chills.
this is wonderful
That studio is insane
The only Dolby Atmos one next to Dolby that they let him have with the black box.
I'd love to sit in on a session with Joel using this amazing desk. Top drawer
Congratulations to deadmau5! Sounds good, how can one not love the music of a analog freak?
Analogue is the way to go. Couldn't agree with you more

Milton Ontario eh? Didn't realize this studio was right in my romping ground. Keep up the good work. Halton represent hahah
That is a beauty!

was preparing myself for a much longer video to watch 😢 awesome nonetheless. Can’t wait to get my first console.

This was the first Joel interview he does not sounds cocky and ignorant. He might turn out to be a great guy in the end. Thanks for this. It was nice to watch!
I’m looking forward to hearing something interesting from Joel
Thanks for the videos. i wanna know more.
This would be amazing to be in working on this beautiful gear!!!!
You deserve good equipment and we deserve good musiv Thank you 🙌
Awesome
Just a little one.., yeah..✌✌👍👍
Soy de ecuador y deadmau5 es el mejor joel thomas
That's why his music has analog warmth
Nice! You just picked up the AMG S65 Cabriolet of mixing boards, and almost the same price. Love your work and I'm an old guy.
DigiDan can i come to ur house
Gawdammnnn that's a beauty.
The Neve sound.
Cool 🎶
people dont understand how much better mixing with analog is until they try it. As a creative art form it cant be beat.
NEVE... Period!
This is why tape saturation was a thing back in the day...now we have good old clipping.
I would like to hear his opinion about the genesys, wunderbar and the 1608 too!
I have $3
Melvin Nakavenzi And I have $3
So we can make $6
@@stephaniehufnagel641 I have $3 too! So far we've raised $9. That's like half a replacement plastic knob on the board.
Sorry, but I only have $2
I only have .75. Yes it has been a few weeks. And now I will ask for 3. They will give me 3. Then next week I ask for 6 I get 6. But you will owe me more!
I have two hundred. let's do this!
1:17 having a console like that is having style xD
Lucky boy
I do it because of the same motiv but i have less money, i think ill get the allen heath zed 420. then i only record the summed sub groups. Thats e simple straight forward work flow to my taste.
He got an extremely good point with the fact that these will "never go out of style". I just had to shed an extra 300 bucks, as a bedroom producer, to replace my MIDI controller on the fly because the one I had before stopped working with my new Macbook Pro... I can only imagine full studios having to deal with all the equipment :O
Yeah. JunkieXL sold almost almost all his hardware gear. Reparating cost was expensive also.
You are the sound God dammnnn
I'm not a jealous person at all but that's a nice setup he has
Is that all Modcan 5U? Holy crap... that has to be the largest collection in existence.
i am a deadmau5 fan but having your monitors sideways messes with stereo image since you will perceive upper frequencies as being further out rather than above the mids
First thing is found on google is 149,951.00 $... Or in other words: $3355/month for 60 months :P
Watch how you talk about the analog vs digital. Might light some fires. Even though there is a difference. A big one. I love both but tracking with hardware is the only way I like to work. Then plugins make sense
dear santa, that equipment
absolutely stunning that desk. if anyone puts a laptop on it i swear
Vose Don’t watch the Linus Tech Tips vid on the studio then.
@@andrewnibbi it baffles me that someone could possible think that is ok lol
Always makes me cringe when someone is “in the studio” and is just working on a laptop, not touching a single thing in there.
Nah let the kids play on their Tonka toy laptops. That's as far as their gonna get. We know where true production is 👊
Lawrence Moffat what are you talking about? I can name 20 artists off the top of my head that used only laptops on entire albums, who are making some of the most intrepid music out there. They also use analog gear, and can make a laptop sound like a 70s oberheim and Vice versa. If anything, you’re playing with toys if you fetishize gear rather than actually going with what sounds good, not making stupid arbitrary distinctions based on elitist bullshit. I wanna hear your amazing art and see how it compares to mine, mostly using a ‘tonka toy’ but also analog gear too.. but a lot of the times it’s the former only, using drum samples or synth samples that could be analog but it’s impossible to tell.
spending goals

Lol. I'm watching this looking at my Behringer Xenyx 502 2 channels mixer. I also have a 4 channel one. Close enough?

DOC!!!
We always said deadmau5 it's the legend and he is here from Canada like me
It's like Nolan and film versus digital.
Joel is just the Nolan of music.
Deadmau5 and Hans Zimmer combination would be fucking insane ! Imagine that combination !
Is that Mr Burns house, its huge!
He's for sure got hounds and a vest made of real gorilla chest.
My goal is to get the NEVE 88RS :)
That Console must be sick.
you know
When you don't have enough buttons and knobs, you get the 5088.
"Warm" and "Glue" alert @ 2:30
It's true though. I've really been enjoying his new stuff. More than just party dance tracks, you can relax to them. Very nice vibe.
And if you listen to other times Joel talks it's also swearing up and down :D
What's the song in the background?
if your into hi fi headphones, mau5 work is different regarding the quality. damn.
More like you get it and have to maintain it. With great power comes great responsibility.
Hi, I'm new to the analogue world. Is Joel using the console to mix and master or just mixing?
Can someone explain the difference between the companies Rupert Neve Designs and AMS Neve? The famous Neve consoles were the AMS Neve company (which still exists and makes consoles) not R.N.D. Not that the name means much but..
They explain it it the 2. point of their FAQ at rupertneve.com/company/faq/
RND seems to have been selling consoles since 2009. It is Rupert Neve's newest company, and not connected to his old company.
"AMS Neve" is what the person Rupert Neve sold in 1973 and left in 1975. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neve_Electronics
Some pictures show his home studio without a NEVE - when did he get this?
FL Studio users- i have a keyboard and omnisphere.
