The Americans tries Norwegian Rakfisk for the first time.

Rakfisk is supposed to be eaten with lots of accessories (you pack it in something like thin pita bread, add sour cream, parsley, vegetables and other stuff) just like the raw fish sushi. It's not supposed to be eaten alone like this.

It's fermented trout. It's like pickled not rotting.
It is similar. Both in the end is fermented fish.
You sissies! Rakfisk is an amazing course, but should be served in a potato griddle cake, mixed with butter, lots of red onion rings, sour cream. You drink beer and schnapps (akevitt) to it. When you think that fermentation is something nasty, think of a beer, cheese, bread in general. Rakfisk gets a somewhat goofy smell if you stick your nose into it, but like cheese you just eat it. It's amazing good food. Me have spoken!

Even norwegians don't eat the fish alone like that (namely because of the very potent taste)... Put a small bit of fish on a bite with supplements like sourcream, potatoes, beets and onions (there are many varieties of this dish) and it becomes amazing all of a sudden!

bare rakfisk kan smake vondt men det er hva du spiser medrakfisken som gjør at det smaker godt. ta rakfisk p latbrød meierismør purre og potet og du har en god bit rakfisk
Enig med deg. Rakfisk, potet, smør og litt løk på lefse og du har en fantastisk god bit rakfisk klar til å spise!

It's worse, it's fermented fish. It's fished many months ago, and then they salt it and leave it to ferment. Don't try gravlax either. I'd rather eat the værball (sheep testicles).
Don't listen to this person. Rakfisk (and gravlax) is yummy. You just have to eat it the right way; with lefse, red onion and sourcream.
