  • Things To Do In VIENNA Austria. Vienna Top 10 Travel Guide. I’m Rok and I’ve spent last 8 years travelling around Europe as a tour guide and I want to show you my favourite 10 Things To Do In Vienna Austria. I prepared this Vienna travel guide to take you around Vienna old town, and other popular areas of Austrian Capital, to show you What to do in Vienna.
    Things To Do In VIENNA:
    00:00 - Intro
    0:52 - 10. Graben: a famous pedestrian shopping area in the heart of the historical city centre. It is filled with 17th and 18th-century palaces, fountains, columns and restaurants and coffee houses including the oldest café and bakery in Vienna.
    2:43 - 9. Town Hall: amazing neo-Gothic style building dominated by its 98 meters or 320 feet tower and its so-called town hall man on the top, that has become a symbol of Vienna. The City Hall also has one of the biggest inner courtyards in Europe and the biggest ballroom in the country.
    3:33 - 8. Hundertwasser House: exceptional piece of modern architecture designed by the artist Hundertwasser. Every apartment is in a different color, the roof is covered with earth and grass, and large trees are growing from inside the rooms, with limbs extending from windows.
    4:33 - 7. Vienna State Opera House: one of the world's largest and most splendid theatres. It is considered to be one of the leading opera houses in the world. Every night, you can witness world-class artists and each season the schedule features 350 performances of more than 60 different operas and ballets.
    5:51 - 6. Giant Ferries Wheel: ferris Wheel in Vienna is a landmark and unmistakable silhouette on the Vienna skyline. It is the oldest still existing Giant Ferries Wheel in the world. It was erected in 1897 to mark the 50th years of rule of Emperor Franz Joseph and It was one of the earliest Ferris wheels ever built.
    7:13 - 5. Imperial Treasury: the most important treasury in the world with Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire from the 10th century. They also have the Austrian imperial crown made in 16 hundred, the biggest emerald in the world and The Holy Grail.
    8:38 - 4. Belvedere - Vienna museums: the 18-century palaces served as the summer residence for the successful commander Prince Eugene of Savoy. Today they house one of Austria's most valuable art collections. In the heart of the Belvedere collection are 24 paintings of Gustav Klimt including world famous"The Kiss” painting.
    10:05 - 3. Imperial Palace: for more than six centuries it was one of the most important centres of European history. From here the Habsburgs ruled their great empire until the end of First World war in 1918.
    11:47 - 2. St. Stephan Cathedral: for more than 800 years it was a landmark of Vienna that survived earthquakes, storms, and wars until the last 2 weeks of the 2nd World War when it was burned to the ground. It took only 7 years to rebuild it and it became a symbol for the reconstruction of Austria.
    13:48 - 1. Schonbrunn palace Vienna: the most popular attraction in Austria. This huge and amazing Baroque palace complex has some of the most important architectural, cultural, and historical monuments in the country. I'm visiting vienna next week and this is one of the best videos I've watched in preparation. As there is so much to see and do in vienna, I wanted to collect some inspiration and ideas what I could do, which places I could visit. This video really gave me an insight in to the city and especially the zooming out of places helps to estimate what is close to each other and what you could do in one day.

    I really love the way you presented this video, like zooming out on the map to give an idea where the spots are located, and turning down the volume when you speak so it is easy to hear what you are saying. Thank you!

    Vienna. My mum had a dream. She never got to realise it. One day I wil do that for her, carrying her here in my heart. Vienna, or Wenen as we call it, has something mystical, regal if you will, and having seen these images, it only confirms it. Stunningly beautiful with the history steeped into every building block. Fabulous filming. 👍🎥🌷🙋‍♀️

    I spent two days in 2004. Schonbrun is definitely no.1 and inside the Riding School. Belverdere was not worth going inside. Along the river is also the UN Atomic Agency Bldg. Maybe its time I go again.

      @rokgoesaround  3 роки тому

      Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, Schonbrun is unique and a must see. I don't know how Belvedere was in 2004, but if you like art I believe it is a must see place, considering you can see amazing paintings by Gustav Klimt.

    St. Stephen's Cathedral did NOT burn to the ground in WWII. The roof burned and collapsed and also parts of the interiour (including the bells) were destroyed, but not the entire church: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Stephen%27s_Cathedral,_Vienna
