I’m from Sweden but I lived in Vienna for 5 years, and I can’t encourage anyone to visit enough. It’s the most wonderful City on the planet
Here now at it really is!!! I don’t wanna leave 😭
You made me cry. Yes it's a little touristy. Like why didn't you try our pizza? Or other Delikatessen? But other than that. You made me miss my home town SO MUCH. 😢 I've been living in Manchester,England for 12yrs and this brought me back home. I couldn't stop smiling and crying ahahah. Vielen vielen Dank mein Bruder.
I really want to visit Vienna!!
Fun fact: the building you're showing as the Hofburg is actually the Neue Burg (new castle), the newest part of the Hofburg. It was finished after the monarchy disintegrated. They origninally planned a huge Kaiserforum (emperor's forum) with an identical builiding like the Neue Burg on the opposite site, the two twin museums (national art and national history museum) between and the royal stables (which is the Museumsqartier or MQ today) after but the monarchy didn't hold that long.
The Imperial Treasury is the oldest part of the Hofburg, the Ecclesiastical Treasury was always used to hold the Habsburg treasures.
I worked for the national art museum (KHM) and they told us a lot about the history of the buildings.
Wouldn't the Schweizerhof be the oldest part since it's the old castle from the middle ages? kind regards
The only thing that strikes me is the randomness of the stones placed on those imperial treasurs as if a drunk quasimodo put a handfull of rare stones in one hand, the crown into the other and then simply made 'platsch' with the stone hand onto the crown hand and 'Tata' majesty heres your crown, now give me that scepter. And don't laugh Brits your Crown was made by Quasimodos Sister Quasiliz.
Love Vienna, alaways happy to travel back to Austria 🇦🇹
So much appreciated the whole video, Thank you for sharing, can't wait for my Viena holiday!
Thank you so much! :)
@@maxnomadtravel I miss this city so much. I go there once every year. I didn't though in 2020 and it doesn't look like i will go this year since I'm behind with work and studies. Hopefully by January 2022 i will be there.
I have been to Vienna many times and love the city very much. I go there mainly to see some Opera performances which are great but I also love all the museums, architecture, the cafes, the food, the night markets and lots of other things. It is a marvellous city and so full of everything anyone could ever want. Two places which I love visiting are the Cafe Mozart, just behind the Opera House. I love to go there for a late meal after the Opera and also the Cafe Demel, where I can watch the cakes being made at the back of the cafe. I always go there before my flight back to buy some of their cakes to bring back with me.
Sadly I have not been there for the past 8 years firstly due to health issues and more recently due to the pandemic but I hope to go there again in the next year or two. I also love visiting Salzburg and have gone there many times for the summer music festival which is absolutely amazing.
What makes the Kunsthistorische Museum so special is that the exact same building is opposite of it the Naturhistorische Museum, where you can experience a lot nature, animals and so many more things and in the middle between these two identical museums is a Maria Theresia statue.
Thank you for this wonderful video, Max. I spent an amazing year in Vienna as a young music student (1971-72). Visitors to Vienna need to experience the musical culture of this amazing heritage. In that year, I saw over 50 operas and 50 concerts (standing room). Your video brings back great memories.
Hi, John!! Any tips about to saw the concerts in the standing rooms?
@@patricia294 Hi Patricia. Standing room will be different for each place. I’ll tell you how it was in 1971, it may be similar. Also ask people who are buying standing room tickets how they do it. I am pretty sure that the standing room tickets are sold earlier in the day (maybe a few hours before the concert starts). Check the internet for the hall you want. They might have more info.
#1 The Musikverein for Vienna Philharmonic concerts. This music hall is absolutely beautiful (search Google photos). Unfortunately, the standing room was only in the back of the hall, everybody was bunched together and there was a ceiling over your head. There was nothing to lean on. When you buy your standing ticket ask the TICKET person, how the process works. What time to line up and so on. I don’t remember much here - I think we just all rushed into the back standing area when an usher let us in.
#2 - The Vienna State Opera. Much more interesting. Same process, buy the tickets earlier then come back. Here I remember that after we were in the building, we followed an usher up the outer set of stairs (there were two staircases). He would walk slowly up the stairs and we (the crowd) would follow him/her as a group. Once we got to the 4th and 5th tiers where the standing room was located, he/she stepped aside and we rushed into the opera hall and found places. Here there were handrails to lean against and you could even sit down in your place on the edge. It was high up but as long as you were not on the very outside parts you could see and hear everything really well. Obviously, if you were near the front of the groups, you would get a better place.
Try it and let me know how it goes and what may be different. Oh, I noticed a photo that shows they have a new standing room area in the back of the main floor. This was not there in 1971.
I am willing to bet that the process is almost the same. But ask around while you are in line buying standing room tickets. If you are a music student in Vienna, this is a great way to see a lot of concerts or operas at an affordable price. If you are a tourist, it might be too much trouble to figure out for only one time. Let me know how it goes.
Enjoy your time in Vienna, Patricia. It is a magical place with music, art, museums, history and culture.
Fun Fact (maybe): In the Wien Staatsoper, there was always an elderly woman sitting down in the same exact standing room place for every performance (even when I wasn’t there, I guess). She had a small light and a musical score of that night’s opera. I never found out about this lady but I wondered if she was somehow connected to Gustav Mahler (not only a famous composer, but Mahler directed the State Opera at the beginning of the 1900s. The age would maybe suggest: girlfriend, daughter, I really don’t know but I love telling the story. :-)
I love Vienna. It's one of my favorite cities in the winter. I have never been there in the summer or Spring. I used to go skiing to Innsbruck, great skiing there. Next time I go I like to go In the Spring or Summer. They have great festivals there too. The city looks very different with no snow.
I just come from my trip, following as he said in this video. It was more beautiful than I expected there, thank you😊
Usually at the end of each month there is the "Kunstschatzi" at the Kunsthistorisches Museum. One of the halls turns into a cocktail bar and it's a party! You have free roam of most of the collection. The ticket costs 25 euros per person, a cocktail coupon is included.
Also, business casual is a minimum. It's a blast!
I visited Vienna in 2018, one of the Classy city.. Thanks for refreshing memories 😎
I am visiting Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic in two weeks and came across your videos when researching the cities!! I really enjoyed watching your video on Munich and now this one on Vienna! Great job and thank you!!
Thank you Max for a beautiful presentation of Vienna. Yours is the best. "Ich bin ein Wiener" but left home 65 years ago, so it is wonderful to see what you've shown and the way you did it. Thank you
I’m literally planing a trip to Vienna right now ! this video is really informative and what I was looking for, so glad I found it !
In 2015 my family and I visited Vienna, the first church was impressive, you have to see it in person, video can't show how magnificent it is.
Amazing video thank you Max! Vienna is so magisterial ❤
I'm Mexican and I've been to Europe but not Austria. So Vienna is in my bucket list. I want to try the sachetorte and visit the Schönbrunn palace. 😍❤️
This was great! Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to visit Vienna!
Love 💕 Vienna. It's so beautiful. Didn't see much cause of short stay. Definitely will go back. Thanks for your videos 😊. Will plan to see these 20 things to see!

Thank you so much for this video! Super helpful 🥰
Very well done travel video..thank you!
amazing. Thank you for sharing
This is the BEST vids on Vienna. I will be there in two months and got tons of information from you, thank you.
I just went to Vienna and did everything in this video (inspired by this video. It was an amazing time. The Griechenbeisl restaurant is worth it. When you go ask the servers to show you Mozart and Beethoven’s signatures on the walls!
Thank you!
this video was really helpful thank u!
A lot of great suggestions. Thank you Max 😊
I should have watched this video first! Max features exactly what I want to do on my visit: eat pastries and drink coffee in an elegant setting. Also needed a recommendation for a good Weinerschnitsel, and in a historic venue to boot. Thanks Max!
You're very welcome. I'm glad you found the video helpful! :)
your video is awesome as always thanks for sharing
Great Video. Will be visiting in may of this year. I cannot wait.

This video has been so informative for me, I am due to travel on the 28th with my mum for the Christmas markets and we cannot wait!
I have visited Vienna several times and I was going over and over again in Vienna time travel. I will encourage everyone to go in Vienna time travel because it offers interactive tour through Vienna's history. It's so inspiring that you would want to have the same kind of tour for your country!
Will be there in August, can’t wait especially after watching your video!🤩
Good video. Will watch this again when i go to Vienna in a few years.
This helped me out so much, I will be in Vienna next week! Great video!
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
Screaming cars everywhere, noise and smell is charming for you? I am originaly from Prague, I expected vienna be similar, but it's not similar at all, Vienna is just ugly city.
great video!
Max, your videos are extremely high quality! keep it up!
Thank you so much! :)

Nice video. Thank you. In the midst of planning our 2023 trip to Austria. Trying to figure out which way to tackle it. Def loads of music and opera in my plans 🤩🤩🤩
Hi Max... Very nice video. You are missing Tiergarten Schönbrunn (Zoo). Is very nice and has a lot of history.
Probably not what you would do on a city trip but what makes Vienna special to me as a local is how quickly with public transport you are in Wienerwald for a light hike or on the Donauinsel for a swim.
You are so sympathetic 😊 thank you for this video, I am looking forward to my trip 😍
Thank you so much! :D
Great video - very informative and I enjoyed watching it. It will help me greatly as I plan my trip to Veinna. Thank you!!

MY Wonderful VIEN. GOD BLESS MY CITY. Ciao 👍😁🇦🇹
Thank you so much for this video. I'm planning a trip to Vienna and your video gave me ideas what to see.
I went to Vienna this summer for the first time this summer, two full days plus other two half days (so let's say three days in total). I'm glad I managed to do many of the things here in less time and I had a great time! I recommend also the Oberes Belvedere with Klimt's The Kiss, Schiele and many more. Also, the café at the Kunthistorisches is gorgeous and I've eaten an amazing Sachertorte there. Beautiful city and good suggestions for a first time visitor. I hope I can go back there and visit Karkskirche because unfortunately I din't manage to be round there when it was open. thanks for the video!
Really helpful and light hearted video ! Thanks max nomad.
Thank you! :)
Brilliant
Wow What a nice video really enjoyed it. I plan to visit Vienna and your video really helped me to plan my tour. thank you very much.
Wow so exited for tomorrow's Vienna holiday! Thanks for sharing
Hey, did u go in vienna? Was it good? Btw i've read somewhere that unvaccinated people have to stay quarantine 5days in vienna and only by doing PCR or RAT in the 5th day they can return back in their country.. Is that true?
@@ditrys. yes we was in Vienna, stayed at the hilton plaza for 8 days, It was fun ❤ PCR test in vienna is free. If you are unvaccinated it will be a problem cos you cannot enter to the restaurants, malls, close places and etc., everywhere ,anywhere asking you the green passport or every 2 days you need to do pcr test to show them that you are healthy.
@@esico cool :D Thanks for answering
Hi Max. This was great. I like how it's not just a quick list of places but I get to see some detail. I will be in Vienna in 3 months so this has been v helpful in planning.
Just feel the city!!! The best Sacchard cake for an affordable price is at the Spanische Hofreitschule Museum Cafe
Visiting Vienna 🔜
already happy to be there again 😃
Now I know why Marie Antoinette love sweets so much. It makes sense since she was Austrian and sweets are popular in Austria
I love Vienna but I would have included the Hofburg chapel with the Vienna Choir Boys on Sunday as well as the Spanish Riding Academy.
❤️🌹❤️ eine super Sache die du da gemacht hast. Auch a super Idee für Schönbrunn das grosse Palmenhaus. LG aus Wien
Amazing Video - Great Work!!
Greetings from Vienna :)
Thank you so much! :)
