Steve you are amazing, I thought you were reading a list of all the things that I truly like about your webinars. Your personality and organizational of the subject you are talking about GETS THE JOB DONE. I wish I would have met you 20 years ago. I am 71 and retired and trying to focus on that age group and have been passing along the little things that make the impossible into an every day occurrence. In fact, I am going to up the support level at the end of this week. I willing to try anything you suggest.

Hi Steve -- A friend in the tech world passed you on to me. I'm a professional speaker & trainer, and have done several webinars, some better than others. I'm very critical of myself when reviewing them. Your keys are spot-on! The production piece is so important. Some clients have the best intentions but are not ready for prime-time -- the production gets fumbled or sometimes I'm on a panel in a webinar and someone else has background noise going on, or is typing on their keyboard (not kidding!) -- Ugh! I enjoyed this -- and will look for more from you -- Keep up the good work!

Gary Hernbroth Thanks Gary, We have a long way to go with Webinars, but they are such a great tool! It is great to see you engaged in the community! Welcome!

Steve I just watched a webinar by Garrett Gunderson at Wealth Factory. I thought it was very informative. He got right into the webinar and didn't waste a ton of time at the beginning.

I think that it was with you, Steve, that I have come to know more about webinars. I recall people mentioning them in the past but I never really stoppped to see what a webinar was. Now that I have become familiar with webinars, I kind of see many similarities to teaching. Things like bite-size chunks of content, content structure, and material preparation are all too familiar to me and I find they are a big part of webinars, too.
I really have only seen three webinars, which have been yours, so I can't recommend others. However, I thought of giving a shot at stretching your list to 10. Here are three keys I thought are also important in setting up webinars (from a teache's perspective):
    8. *Call to action:* Information is great, but it turns into real power when one does something with it. I think a webinar should also call the audience into action at some point, either because of a sales pitch or to do something with the presented information. It seems to me that if there is no call to action, or engagement of some kind, the webinar turns into a big infograph poster.
    9. *Availability:* A webinar loses its meaning if people can't get to it, so making sure that people know about it, know where it is and can get to it is very important, which, by the way, you do a really good job at.
10 *Make it Evergreen:* While availability may refer to access and value in the present, evergreen refers to access and value towards the future. That the webinar content is not dated nor has an expiration date. This is, of course, not necessarily easy, especially when one talks about products that are constantly changing such as online sofware. To this I say; it is necessary to address the obvious features of the software as the value in the present is demonstrated. However, below the face value of said software features lie the skills needed to perform the tasks; things like observation, comparison and contrast, memory, association and so on. Addressing the used skills, in some way, is what gives the webinar evergreen value.

Eduardo Carrillo I agree, in fact many teachers are gravitating to Webinars and I am seeing them included in educational conferences as they discuss the best practices etc.
Love the 3 extra points, for sales the call to action is so powerful, and the evergreen concept I love, provided people KNOW it is a recording and not passed off as live.....
Having said that I do believe there is an extra value to the live presentation, people like to know they are participating in an EVENT,
Thanks Eduardo, as usual awesome input!

    Hi Steve,
Love your work. I know they were not in the webinar business, but I believe one can glean from Tom (RIP) and Ray Magliozzi (Car talk-PBS) many elements that can be applied to developing successful webinars. If you are familiar with their broadcasts, I think you can see several of your 7 tips embedded in their presentation style. Not the least of these is personality. You remind me a lot of them in this regard. Genuine, unpretentious, high energy, and like Tom and Ray, you have a charismatic accent.
    Goodnight Canada. :-)

Great content, but I'm a multimedia specialist and so i was constantly drown to the not so good (keyed) background of yours, it didn't do a good job on the hairs and it made me loose you at some point and kept looking at it. Apart from that this was great!! Thanks.

If it's not too late, I do have some strong views on Webinars. Great Webinars are lousy when technology fails. The big Webinar names Webex, Go-to-Webinar, etc. seem to work well, but so many others suck. Google Hangouts can sometimes be awful. Polls are mostly a waste of time - meaningless surveys, that I guess are added to keep audience involvement up. Don't do a poll unless you really need the info - not to pretend just so you can give attendees something to do. Chat can get really annoying. It's mostly folks who haven't figured out how to connect to the webinar. GREAT content, delivered with passion (steve dotto style), makes up for the bad stuff. Keep it up.

How do you suggest to welcome an international audience from different time zones? I often hear "Good morning, good afternoon or good evening - depending on where you are" ... but I don't like that complicated phrase. Any better ideas?

Very out of the box. "Personality" is actually a great key to deliver effective marketing or training webinar; however you never see it listed on any article or video about how to deliver a good webinar.

There is a site I looked at recently - I won't mention the name but I was put off by wordy, boring talking. I appreciate the time of your webinars - the longer ones with other presenters allow interaction.
