Another insightful video.
Thanks, man.
Thanks for watching :)
I own this filter and thus far it has been a great performer. Nice to have the combination which means less trips into my camera bag.
Just received this ND and did some testing, I am so far really happy with the result! Works wide open on my prime 1.8f with snow in sun condition (but in Sweden so not the strongest sun you can find), and with the 50mm and 85mm more or less no vignetting but sure with my 20-60mm I can see it at 5-7 stops but up to that, not bad, thanks again for this review it was this clip that made me buy this ND.. Edit: also the built quality seem more the fine!
Thanks for the video Shane! Great as always!
Many thanks!
Thanks to Haida for sending this 2-in-1 out to the channel. I saw Chris from DP Review used this on his fishing show, so I thought it was well worth a shot. Let me know what you think. Check the discount code in the description if you want to pick one up.
finally somebody mentions flaring
The car example is awesome! How practical
Thanks! 🙏
I love your videos. It's a ongoing photography class. Proud to be a student 😊
Thanks for the kind words and support.
Excellent video and presentation :)
Great video Shane🙏.
Cheers!
@@GeekyNerdyTechy 🙏
Thanks for the video Shane, it's very helpful. Does the Haida Pro II 2-in-1 have a thread on the front?
Or is what I see on the Haida product vids, concentric grooves to stop reflection?
Cheers!
I also picked one up recently, killer filter! Might want to change your description as it's Haida not Haider haha
haha. Fixed. I had it right the second time but not the first 🤣
Great video as usual. In your opinion, is this filter better than Tiffen variable ND? I’m undecided on which filter to get. Of course I want true color but I’m also curious if a filter can be used indoors. Yes I’m a newbie.
what mic are yoou using outdoors? sounds so clean
Hi, have you tested whether the water runs off properly in the event of rain? thanks
Can you use it while using matte boxes?
Thanks for showing us this Shane! Question. What wireless mic setup are you using in this video? You have reviewed so many. The audio sounds great and is why I ask... ❤
Hi mate. My Saramonic pack died, so I am back on the RodeLink Wireless. This is Rode's original and larger pack that has insane battery life if you buy a good set of AA batteries. Size aside, it's one of the most reliable packs I ever purchased. It's close to 6 years old I'm guessing.
@Geeky Nerdy Techy Cheers mate!
I have a Black Magic 4K, so I will need an IR cut filter. Does the cut filter go before the ND filter (before as in closer to the camera lens)? This Haida has two thread sizes, so I am trying to figure out what IR Cut thread size I need.
Hello, thank you for the great review! Just a question, was the clips on the s5ii recorded at f 1.8? 🥰
Thanks for watching, and thanks. Yes, all of the clips were wide open on their respective lenses.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Okey, cool! Waiting for this filter in the mail now, for my s5iix.. 😇 Great videos, keep it up! 🥰🤙
can you stack a Black Pro-Mist to this filter?
for the Jeep part was it filmed with the S5 mark II ?
did u try it wider focal length like under 24mm. and do u see any vignette in camera
Most wide angle lenses have some issues with ND filters. It's best to buy a larger filter and buy a couple of step up rings. I noticed vignetting on lenses wider than 20mm if I don't use step up rings with any variable ND.
Great video! I do not see step up rings advertised on their site. Where would you find this necessary item? I have many sizes of lenses.
I've added links to the description for you.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thank you!! I have got to have this!!
I did purchase this filter and a set of step up and stepdown rings (comes with all sizes) and everything works great on my GH6! Thank you so much for your video, as it is excellent info!!!
Do you have any experience with wider lenses and this filter? I got the S5ii with the Sigma 16-28 and 28-70 and I found the 16mm in 6k Open Gate tends to heavily vignette when stacking filters (I tried the Nisi true color ones that you have to stack)
Anything wider than 20mm has potentially issues with vignetting even with 16x9. It’s the angle of view that’s the problem. I usually find it’s helpful using step up rings but the 16mm might be just too wide. Is it attached directly to the lens or are you using step up rings?
What lens cap can you put on this? It doesn't come with a cap & my pinch lens caps do not fit.
I'm pretty sure you need to take it off if you want to use a lens cap.
Hey Shane, what filter size is at the front of the 82mm? No one seems to mention this. Some of us like to add a black pro most filter.
Thanks in advance.
I'll have to take a look as I haven't used it before. Was there no mention of it on their specs/website?
@@GeekyNerdyTechy not on their website no. But I eventually found it on a vendor's website. It's 86mm so will need a step up ring to add any diffuser.
Which brand of step up rings do you recommend?
I have 2 Lumix Primes that have 67mm filter thread.
And I have the Lumix S Pro 24-70mm that has a 82mm filter thread.
So in this case I will need to get the 82mm Haida.
However I am not sure which step up rings to get...
I just got a pack for about $20 on Amazon. They've been fine. Just read a few reviews, some have better threading than others.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thanks! So basically it doesn’t really matter.
And thank you for this video!
I haven’t encountered the bright outdoor light and reflection problems but now I can be prepared in advance!
And I remembered the saying: Introduce your kids to photography/videography. They will not have money left for drugs lol
What is color cast on them?
I talked about that in the bit at the end in the studio. You'll notice a shift in the colors a hair but the A/B footage shows the difference.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy LOL asked the question when the cons chapter started, and thought it's just a studio wrap-up :).
Seems there is not much of the shift which is nice. Maybe it's the filter I'm looking for? :D
I think nobody speak whether the filter has front thread or not? Can you use the adapter of the teleprompter in front as an example?
I don't believe so. Plus, it has that big lever on the front so it probably wouldn't work either way.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy can you confirm whether it has a front thread or not?
Yes it has@@AntzMr
It's the next size up from your lens filter thread@@AntzMr

😥 only in AU, not in the states
I've added a US link for you in the description. Sorry, I thought they might ship globally from the one store.
I never understood this. Why does everyone want motion blur. I think it looks stupid. For me it's like saying you want that great noise back in your videos. I guess nobody agrees with me, but then I never go along with the crowd...
Jittery footage can look terrible, depending on the situation you're in. Sometimes faster shutter speeds work great.
The picture does not look good at all with is filter. Strange color and it looks unreal somehow. I see a purple color cast also.
The footage doesn't look good? lol, okay. I showed a side by side with it on and off and there's minimal difference. You could easily make some small adjustments. I spoke about this at the end.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy it looks like something is wrong wit the picture . I have the same experience with filters i used. Its not only the color it kills some of the light information in the picture i think. I cant explain it better but The purple in the picture is pretty obvious to me. The color harmony is out of balance . Its hard to explain. I stopped using filters because of this. Maybe more expensive filters can fix this but i cant afford it. I would not buy this one.
@@castielvargastv7931 Fair enough. It might just be softening the image more than without it but it worked great. I shot a bunch of footage on my last video with it and it did a solid job. This filter is convenient which i like :)
