Farmer here - vicuña is not only difficult because they rarely get sheared, but because they are a PAIN to farm. They break everything and escape much more than sheep and cows.😅
Please make a video on the designer Halston. He used suppliers in Italy and Scotland in the 1970s and 80s with Merino wool and cashmere to create his pieces. He was one of the biggest fashion designers back in the day. I work with one of his former models and it would be a great video as his story is truly amazing.
Considering how almost all clothes now are made from synthetic fibers, if I had the money, I’d definitely love to purchase one of their unique products. The lotus flower silk really catches my interest.
I used to scoff at such things when I was younger, but after being more knowledgeable about fast fashion, exploitation, wanting less clothes but higher quality, etc… I no longer really judge clothing prices as much as I used to. Maybe I wouldn’t spend THAT much, but I will certainly be very picky and would rather save up for a fine item that will last me a lifetime over something that’s cheaply made and with underpaid labor. Although I typically buy from indie brands and small shops, and only buy luxury when I truly enjoy an item and think the cost is worth is.
If 8 had that type of money.. YES I ABSOLUTELY would spend it on top luxury materials... I mean just look at that polo shirt.. it just looks so soft.. 😱 omg
The very very wealthy do not wear logos, they are understated. It's people who like to pretend they have huge wealth that want to shout "I am rich", that wear logos.
I think one company is being supplied by Loro Piana with their fabrics. I forgot what it was but i read it on their site. It was probably Eric Bompard or Luca Faloni. Correct me if I'm wrong. Brunello Cucinelli is like the younger version of Loro Piana. I love the business philosophy of Cucinelli though.
Not just that. Loro Piana has their fashion lines with their brand, but it also supply fabrics to tailors and fabrics shops. So you can have a tailor made suit or whatever, but without the expensive price tag of their fashion line.
I used to work for a designer and I always wondered why those fabrics were so much more expensive. The clothing company made very high end fancy menswear and I now see why all his clothes are so pricey
Vacuna is amazing stuff I would love to get my hands on some to spin into some yarn and make a luxurious shawl or scarf. The whole process of herding shaving and releasing them is so interesting. I'll probably never be able to get any though.
Yes, because it’s quality craftsmanship- textile art really. It’s called investment clothing and those plain pieces are classics. If properly cared for, they will last longer than most ppl.
A brand like Loro Piana? Yes if i could invest in some of those super fine best quality pieces i would, bc who knows your wearing LP? Thats right, nobody only you, bc of the feeling, not bc someone els sees it bc they can't #nobranding Its like Brunelo Cuchinelli, TheRow, MaxMara (MaxMara has a bit if branding on some pieces), Céline when Phoebe Phillo,... Prize & quality all are 😘👌🏻 But LP is 10 levels higher ✌🏻🌺
Add Loewe, Acne, Issey Miyaki, Marni and Visvim to the list of brands that actually use finer materials and craftsmanship to justifiable charge higher prices. I’ll always pay a bit more for great quality that’s subtle🤌🏾
i giggled when merino wool was mentioned... in new zealand they litterally sell it in the cheap department stores as underlayers for when it's cold out... was going to buy a 100% merino turtleneck for like $35 nzd
If I have a billion…YES, in a heart beat🙌🏻 And since I don’t have a billion, that would be a NO! Unless, it’s gifted to me then I will wear it proudly🤩
I have the Babouche Charms Walk Loafers and I must say as expensive as they are, they are so comfortable and I wear them all the time. The cost per wear actually paid off on my first purchase from the brand.
For someone who's middle class and has a "passion for fashion" I have always wanted to have a lil of vicuña wool, and then my textiles teacher brought some the other day to class KDKSKDKS it's was really soft :D now even with the whole fashion design career I'm doubtful of ever working with vicuña wool just because it's REALLY out of my pocket but who knows :] maybeeeee someday
Well tbh you can get the same cashmere for pretty cheap in india and nepal And idk about the standards but i know some vendors who don't mx up cashmere with any other fabric
I’m not sure if I would spend that on a jumper but maybe after I felt how soft it was I may be persuaded lol oh and another great interesting video guys 👌 would you buy one? 🥰
Tbh it’s a lot of money, but if I could afford it, yes I would definitely buy from them. I have one cashmere turtleneck and I can not overestimate how soft and comfortable that material is. It’s certainly a great investment bc I’ve had it for years and it’s still in pristine shape. Those natural materials are definitely worth it, I’m sure a part of their premium price is a name thing, but if it’s great craftsmanship and great materials, I don’t mind. It’s not like putting LV/any other logo on a plastic bag and selling it for thousands of dollars. 😅
I can’t believe I’m saying this but I can actually see the value in the green $750.00 polo shirt I just saw on their site. If I had those resources and lived in that world, I would have that shirt for at least 20 years. I think I finally understand the concept of investment pieces.
Is there something they put on the clothing, like a special button or special stitch, a certain color thread, or knit pattern somewhere, like near the hem? Or maybe they use like a less common style of collar, or knit design. A special/abnormal material to make buttons, etc… I just want to know how I would distinguish whether someone was wearing one!
Loro Piana also used to outsource fabric to other brands. I've seen a vintage Ralph Lauren blazer with Loro Piana fabric. But that piece was probably from the 90s. Can't say if they still do it or not.
I am just a poor guy who will probably never buy such expensive clothes. The thing is that these materials are rare and have certain properties other cheaper materials do not have. Yes..if I had the money I would buy these products.😊
I wonder if the suppliers of the wools (from the farmers, to all the people involved in the production of these rare fibers) get paid decently in their countries of origin, cause that would definitely justify (partly) the prices. Otherwise, I don't know if it's worth...
That lotus 🪷 fabric is so expensive because alot of these flowers are grown and then need very delicate process to extract it from the flower. Now if I really Wana be rich I have to learn how to do that ❤
it is the price per wear for me. so if i will buy that 4grand plus tax long sleeves shirt, I will make sure that I will wear it almost everyday in the seasons or occassions it needed. I wanna take advantage of whay i bought ahhaha
I know that the quality and rarity of the materials, not to mention most of them are imported, causes the high price. Not to lie if I have so much money I'd buy the clothes just to experience the value and quality that the brand praises, but for now I'm not even thinking to buy. Hell, I'll erase the memory that I ever hearing about this brand before I watched this video, they are way too expensive for my financial condition now 😂
For that money I would just buy one of those mongolian baby goats and have them shipped over, so cute 😇😇
You can travel there, stay a month, come back, AND do what you said.
Lol fair play.. the Mongolian goats are so beautiful aren't they!!
Shipping animals around the world like they're objects is soo cute 😍

If I had the money, yes. Timeless is timeless instead of the gaudy aweful trashy trends.

Brooks Bros. has some coats and jackets made from Loro Piana wool and cashmere at a great price for amazing quality and stying.
Incroyable.
