It is true that John Wilkes Booth yelled: "Sic semper tyrannis!" after jumping to the stage, but the next thing he yelled was: "The south is avenged!" Still a good video, though. Here's some other interesting facts concerning the assassination plot. Originally, Booth and some other men, who were called conspirators, planned to kidnap Lincoln and hold him for ransom in exchange for the release of the Confederate prisoners-of-war held behind Union lines. Originally, Abraham and Mary were going to see the play with General Ulysses Simpson Grant and his wife, Julia Dent, but at the last minute, they changed their plans, and got a train ticket I believe to Philadelphia instead, to see their son instead. That's when Abraham and Mary invited Henry Reed Rathbone and his fiancee, Clara Harris. It was revealed later on that Lincoln was NOT the only target that night, those conspirators were planning on killing 2 other men. They had George Andrew Atzerodt go and kill Vice President Andrew Johnson, while Lewis Powell would go and kill Secretary of State William Henry Seward. Atzerodt and Powell both failed to kill their targets, Booth was the only one of the 3 who succeeded in killing his target.
Booth was also a member of the KGC (Knights Of The Golden Circle) this would have been a Confederate equivalency to the Secret Service, this organization served various roles including protecting President Jefferson Davis, and various espionage activities against the northern state.
